Kentucky-Tennessee GRAIN DAY 2018 – Friday, February 2, 2018

The annual Kentucky-Tennessee Grain Day is scheduled for Friday, February 2, 2018, from 7:30 am to 1:45 pm at the Logan County Extension Office at 255 John Paul Avenue, Russellville, KY. This is a joint program between the University of Kentucky and University of Tennessee Extension Services.
The Trade Show will open at 7:30 am and refreshments will be available. The trade show offers corn and soybean producers the opportunity to meet with a wide range of agribusiness representatives involved in grain production.
Lunch is sponsored by B.R. Knuckles Insurance Agency.

Seminar speakers, topics and times offered for this year will include:

Tennessee – Kentucky Tobacco Expo 2018 – February 6, 2018

The annual Tennessee-Kentucky Tobacco Expo is scheduled for Tuesday February 6, 2018, from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Robertson County Fairgrounds Community Building, 4635 Hwy 41 North, Springfield.

The Tobacco Expo Trade show, featuring 30 agribusiness exhibitors, will open at 8:00 a.m. The trade show offers tobacco farmers an opportunity to meet with a wide range of agribusiness representatives involved in tobacco production and related fields.

Lunch will be available for all participants at 12:30 and is sponsored by Eastern Dark Fired Tobacco Growers Association, Burley Stabilization Corporation, Farm Credit Services, Hail & Cotton, Inc., and Drexel Chemical.

Seminar speakers, topics and times offered for this year will include:
• GAP Training (8:30 am & 10:30 am) – Joe Beeler, UT Research Associate, & Dr. Andy Baily, Extension Tobacco Specialist
• Tobacco Production & Disease Updates (8:30 am & 10:30 am) – Dr. Eric Walker, Extension Tobacco Specialist, UT/UK; Emily Pfeufer, UK Assoc. Professor, Plant pathology
• Commercial Pesticide Applicator Points available for Categories: 1,10, 12

Growers that don’t attend a “Company” sponsored GAP training will have two opportunities to complete this program at the Tobacco Expo. Be sure to bring your GAP card or have your GAP number available when you attend a GAP training. GAP Connections provides numerous resources aimed at helping tobacco farmers follow the guidelines of the U.S. Tobacco GAP Program, including a downloadable copy of the existing program’s guidelines and recordkeeping checklist and templates. Beef Cattle Producers,

You are invited to participate in the Advanced Master Beef Producer Program on each Tuesday night in March (6,13,20,27) at the UT Highland Rim Research Center. Attending this program is one of the requirements to get 50% cost-share for some items for the Tennessee Ag Enhancement Program. Certification is good for 3 years.
