Fatal 31W Crash Claims One Life Tuesday Night

COTTONTOWN, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – One person has died following a deadly Hwy 31W single-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday evening.

The crash occurred on Hwy 31 W at Guthrie Rd and Spring Valley Dr. The first call coming into 911 at 8:36 PM. LOCATION OF CRASH

According to Fire Chief Joe Williams with the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, when his team arrived along with Sumner County EMS, the driver, now identified as 42-year-old Timothy Henley was still in his seatbelt, strapped in upside down in his 2017 Chevy Equinox. After extricating the driver, CPR was started. “He was unresponsive so we began life-saving measures,” Chief Williams said. Henley was transported to Portland ER where he was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. 

NEW: The preliminary crash report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol obtained by Smokey Barn News indicates that Henley was driving north on US 31W near Spring Valley Dr. when his vehicle veered off the right side of the road and went down an embankment. The vehicle then entered a ditch and went airborne before rolling multiple times, eventually coming to a stop in a ditch.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, and Sumner County EMS all responded to the call.
