Fatal Crash Claims One Life on Highway 76

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News): A two-vehicle crash on Highway 76 has claimed one life and sent two others to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with non-critical injuries, according to officials.

The crash occurred on Highway 76 between Lorelei Lane and Bethlehem Road, closer to Lorelei Lane, the first call coming into 911 at 12:09 PM.  The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, and Highway 76 is currently closed while troopers work the scene. Officials say to expect the road to remain closed for at least 2 hours.

UPDATE: The THP is now releasing more information regarding the crash. According to the THP’s preliminary report, 59-year-old Kathy Burns of Tennessee was traveling east in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado when her vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck a westbound 2022 Ford Bronco head-on. Burns did not survive the crash. The Bronco was driven by a 25-year-old with a 24-year-old passenger, and both were injured in the crash..  The occupants of the Branco were both injured and transported for treatment. After impact, the Silverado rolled onto its top and came to rest in the roadway, while the Bronco spun and came to a stop on the right shoulder. TOP PHOTO  Kim Siano
