Fewer Trains Expected Through Robertson County After Todd County Derailment

ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A train derailment in Kentucky is not expected to affect Robertson County, but you may notice fewer trains today until they can get the mess cleaned up and the track repaired.

The derailment is positioned in Todd County, Kentucky, in the city of Trenton, well north of Robertson County, and it is not expected to pose any risk here locally. LOCATION OF CRASH

The derailment involved several rail cars, some reportedly carrying molten sulfur, and officials in the immediate area issued a temporary shelter-in-place as a precaution for nearby residents. That situation is confined to the area around the derailment site. Officials tell Smokey Barn News the odor from sulfur could reach the Adams area of Robertson County, but it is not expected to pose a health risk.

For Robertson County, the only likely impact is operational. As cleanup continues, rail traffic may be reduced or temporarily rerouted, so you may notice fewer trains passing through the county today. Trains that just happened to be on this side of the breach may come through, but it will likely be hours before normal train traffic resumes. Drivers should still be diligent when crossing railroad tracks.

Smokey Barn News will share updates as they are made available.
