Firearm Accidentally Discharges Inside Springfield Kroger
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – Springfield police are investigating after officials say a firearm accidentally discharged in the lobby area of the Kroger in Springfield on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:30 PM.
In a statement, the city of Springfield confirmed, “It was an accidental discharge,” and assured that there is no threat to the public. Sources tell Smokey Barn News that the round struck the floor in the lobby area, with no injuries reported. However, officials are considering the possibility that the round may have struck the individual in the leg when the gun accidentally discharged.
Kroger’s business operations have not been interrupted, and officials assure the public that there is no ongoing threat. Security footage from the store is likely aiding the investigation, contributing to officials’ confidence that the discharge was unintentional.
