Firefighter Hurt in Overturned Truck While Responding to Multiple Fires

PLEASANT VIEW, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department firefighter sustained serious but non-critical injuries when a fire engine left the road and overturned. The incident occurred while first responders were en route to one of four structure fires believed to have been caused by lightning strikes during Tuesday night’s powerful storms.

The incidents began with a garage fire on Bracey Circle in Cheatham County, followed by a house fire on Tweedy Drive, also in Cheatham County, which resulted in minor damage. A third fire required mutual aid with Montgomery County on Oak Plains Road. The final fire, a total loss, occurred on Balthrop Road in Cheatham County.

While en route to the last fire, a fire truck lost control on wet roads and overturned. According to Fire Chief P.J Duncan with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, the firefighter driving was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with serious injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.

Agencies responding to the incidents included the Pleasant View Fire Department, the Ashland City Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, Cheatham County EMS, Cheatham County EMA, and the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, which stood by at the Pleasant View station for additional calls.

Smokey Barn News is working to get an update on the injured Firefighter but at last report, he was recovering.
