Following Tornado Devastation, Holman Jewelers Plans to Rebuild

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Holman Jewelers, a long-standing family-owned business in Springfield, TN, has announced plans to reopen later this year after their building on Memorial was devastated by last December’s tornado. Established in 1953 by brothers Billy Gene and Buddy Holman, the jewelry store has been a community cornerstone for decades. Current owner Brian Holman is committed to preserving the store’s legacy and looks forward to welcoming back their customers and friends.

Founded in Springfield by brothers Billy Gene and Buddy Holman, the business has seen a few location changes. From its grand opening in 1953 on Main Street to the Mooreland Shopping Center in 1972 to its location on Memorial Boulevard since 2011, Holman Jewelers has been a full-service family-owned jewelry store deeply embedded in the Springfield community.

The store’s history includes frequent visits from local elder statesmen who dropped by not only for jewelry or watch repairs but also to share stories and enjoy each other’s company. In the early years, customers could even find flatware and records for purchase or join in for a sock hop. Long before the advent of social media, Holman Jewelers served as a social hub where family, friends, and customers gathered.

Brian Holman, current owner and son of Billy Gene Holman, reflects on the store’s significance: “The store is a part of not only my family’s history but also the history and story of Springfield,” Holman said. “Although the store was heavily damaged and had to be torn down because of December’s tornado, I am looking forward to rebuilding and opening our doors later this year to our loyal customers, many of whom are like family and who have become close friends over the years. I am thankful to our customers and the entire Springfield community for its continued support.”

Despite the challenges, the spirit of Holman Jewelers remains resilient, with plans to continue serving the community that has supported them for so many years.
