On Thursday, April 24, at the request of 18th Judicial District Attorney General Ray Whitley, TBI special agents joined the Millersville Police Department to investigate several vehicle fires that occurred earlier that day in the 1000 block of Woody Lane in Millersville.

According to investigators, the fires were determined to have been set intentionally. The investigation identified 31-year-old Christopher Roach of White House as the individual responsible. At the time of the incident, Roach was serving as a volunteer firefighter with the Millersville Fire Department.

Roach has been charged with two counts of Vandalism Over $10,000 and two counts of Arson: Burning Personal Property. He was booked into the Sumner County Jail and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

According to Millersville City Manager Michael Gorham, Roach has been suspended, and termination proceedings are underway.

Authorities emphasize that the charges are merely accusations and Roach is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with information about an intentionally set fire is encouraged to contact the Tennessee Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017.
