Helicopter Crash In Gallatin
Smokey has confirmed that a Helicopter/helicycle has gone down in Gallatin and sadly the pilot flying it has lost his life. Additionally we have learned that it was a one-seat Ultra-Light Helicopter. The accident occurred around 3:20 p.m.
The Helicopter went down in a residential yard near Douglas Ln and Flynn Rd in Gallatin, TN. (Exact location of crash) The pilot, according to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Department is James E. Lee from Gallatin TN.

Smokey’s news partner WKRN News 2 is reporting that Lee was flying to a friend’s house. The crash happened when the nose of the ultra light, one-seat helicopter dropped, causing it to catch a tree. It then crash landed, killing the pilot instantly, according to News 2.
The accident is under investigation. The size of the aircraft will not effect the investigation. The crash will still be thoroughly investigated by the FAA and the NTSB to try to get an exact cause so the data can be used to prevent future crashes.
The staff at Smokey will be keeping the family of the pilot in our prayers.
