“Good Stop” Saves Adams-Area Home Following Electrical Fire
ADAMS, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Firefighters credit a quick response and a fire extinguisher with preventing significant damage to an Adams-area home after an electrical fire Tuesday morning.
The first call came into 911 at 11:18 a.m. for a home in the 7600 block of Highway 41 North. MAP According to Adams Fire Chief Donovan Tucker, flames were visible at the home’s fuse box when firefighters arrived.
“A 10-pound ABC fire extinguisher was used to knock the fire down and eventually put it out,” Tucker said. According to Tucker, the problem appeared to involve the electrical supply to the dryer.
Because the fire involved the electrical system, firefighters could not use water until Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation (CEMC) disconnected power to the home. Ultimately, no water was needed because the extinguisher successfully put out the fire.
In firefighting terms, it was a “good stop,” with crews quickly containing the fire before it could spread and cause substantially more damage to the home.
Nine firefighters and two EMS personnel responded. Agencies included Adams Fire & Emergency Services, North Robertson Fire & Rescue, Robertson County EMS Medic 6, Robertson County Emergency Management Agency and CEMC. Springfield Fire Department’s Engine 4 was initially dispatched but was canceled before arrival after crews on the scene quickly brought the fire under control.
