Greenbrier Police Stop Home Invasion Suspect In His Tracks

GREENBRIER TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Greenbrier Family will likely be checking behind all their doors for a while after they were startled to find a man they didn’t know inside their home.

According to Lt. Curt Allen with Greenbrier Police, just prior to the suspect’s encounter with the family, 911 received numerous calls about a suspicious man on or near Old Greenbrier Pike Friday afternoon, the first call coming into 911 around 1 pm. A white male with a dark-colored jacket was spotted running into a shed in the backyard of a residence. After that, the homeowner told police he lost sight of him.

While Greenbrier Police were on that call they received another call of a suspicious person on Mitchell Street, two streets over. MAP When Police arrived on Mitchell Street the victim said he was in his car when a white male with a dark jacket walked up to his vehicle and opened the door. The victim told police that when the suspect saw him inside the car the suspect ran off. Minutes later a neighbor captured the suspect on video crossing her yard. (PICTURED LEFT)

About an hour later Police received a call that a residential burglary was in progress at a home located on Lynwood Drive (about 0.5 miles from Mitchell Street. MAP  Greenbrier police were still in the area searching for the suspect so they arrived quickly and located the suspect still inside the home.

Lt. Allen told Smokey Barn News that the suspect, now identified as 39-year-old Charles Mann of White House, was placed under arrest and taken into custody without incident. Lt. Allen said the house Mann allegedly broke into had 3 small children inside at the time.

Mann has been charged with Aggravated Burglary and Carjacking. He was transported to the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield where he is being held under a $40,000 bond.
