HWY I24- Tractor Trailer Destroyed By Fire Early Friday

Pleasant View Firefighters responded to a tractor trailer fire early Friday morning. As you can see the rig is a total loss but thanks to quick work by Pleasant View Fire the cargo was not affected.

semifire0063According to officials at the scene, the driver started to smell smoke around the 28 mile marker on I24 East and pulled over. MAP Within minutes the rig was engulfed in flames.

The incident occurred just after 12:30am. According to officials, the rig was hauling charcoal. The driver was not injured.

Pleasant View Fire, Robertson County Emergency Management Agency and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene. I24 East was reduced to one lane as crews put out the fire. I24 West was not affected.

As of 2:30am a tow truck was in route but it will likely take an hour or two to remove the damaged rig. If you are traveling through I24 East through Pleasant View drive with caution.
