Obituary for Stephen (Steve) Eugene Jones
Stephen (Steve) Eugene Jones, 64, passed away peacefully at his home on August 4, 2024, in Springfield, TN. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend. Steve was born on March 7, 1960, to the late Bobby and Bessie Ruth (Abbott) Jones, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN. Steve graduated from McGavock High School in 1978.
After 45 years of dedication to UPS as a delivery driver, where he was respected and loved by his colleagues and customers, Steve retired in 2022.
Steve leaves behind his wife of 34 years, best friend, and love of his life, Terrie, and his daughters, Tricia (Jonathan) Hassell of Springfield, TN, and Sarah (Thor) Tucker of Clarksville, TN. He was a cherished Paw Paw to his “Little Man,” Gunner Hassell. He is also survived by his sister, Robbin (Roy) Epperson of Hendersonville, TN, and his brother, Scott (Belinda) Jones of Murfreesboro, TN as well as many close friends and dear family members, who brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Bessie Ruth Jones.
Steve will be remembered for his dedication to his family and career, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and love. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be announced later.

Clarice Ann Head-Palmore, 82, of Mt. Juliet, passed from this life on Thursday August 15, 2024, at Summitt Medical Center in Nashville.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday August 19th at 2:30 p.m. in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Alton Cantarutti officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Ms. Ann was born January 25, 1942, in Springfield, to the late Earl and Robbie Stack Head. She was a retired accounting bookkeeper with Southwestern/Great American Insurance and was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Hermitage. Ms. Ann loved reading her Bible and loved her family.
Ms. Ann is survived by her husband: Dennis R. Palmore of Mt. Juliet, by her sons: William “Bill” Lambert and Thomas “Timmy” Lambert both of Mt. Juliet, by her daughter: Rhonda Lynn Lambert of Mt. Juliet, by her stepdaughters: Denise and Kathy Palmore both of Watertown, by her grandchildren: Kyle Butler, Kelley Butler, Thomas Dewitt, and Tabitha Casilli, and by her 6 great grandchildren.

Obituary for Frances Morton
Frances Ray Tuttle Morton, 79, of Springfield, passed from this life on Friday August 9, 2024, at the home of her daughter in White House.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday August 24th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother Donnie Joe Rhoten officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday August 24th from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Frances was born May 4, 1945, in Westmoreland, to the late Jesse James and Opal Erlene Mince Tuttle. She was a graduate of Hume Fogg High School Class of 1963. Frances worked in electronics at Aladdin for many years, and then became a beautician and retired from that profession. She loved crafts, was a huge Elvis Presley fan, loved caring for others, and she loved flowers, especially orchids. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law: Chris Burton.
Frances is survived by her husband of 56 years: Robert “Bobby” Morton of Springfield, by her son: Richie Morton of Nashville, by her daughter: Garah Morton Burton of White House, by her grandchildren: Seth Morton, Meliah Miranda, Savannah Burton, Christian Burton, Jesse Slayton, and Derrick Slayton, and by her great grandchildren: Kaylee Ann and Bobby Ray.

Timothy Lee Martin, 60, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at his home. Born May 1, 1964, in Rantoul, Illinois, he was the son of the late J.C. Martin and Lillie Mai Jennings Martin.
Timothy graduated from Goodlettsville High School as a member of the class of 1982. He had worked for Opryland as a longtime retail supervisor up till their closing. His family will remember him for his love of Jeeps, his ’65 Buick, his collection of comic books and his collection of model cars. He was a loving brother and uncle who will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his brothers Jeffrey C. (Pam) Martin and Terry G. Martin; nephews Jason C. Martin, Joshua M. (Denise) Martin, and Jeremy A. Martin; niece Kelsey (Westin) Barber; great nieces/nephews Jordan Martin, Connor Martin, Lexi Ann Martin, Julianne Barber, and Rowan Barber.
Visitation will be from 10am till 12pm on Wednesday, August 21, at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. A celebration of Timothy’s life will be held at noon. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville.

Cheryl Lynn (Roaden) Heath, 80, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Mrs. Heath was born on January 24th, 1944, in White House, Tennessee, to the late Ruth and Jim Roaden. She was the oldest of four siblings and a graduate of Goodlettsville High School class of 1962. She worked as a finance consultant for GMAC while raising three wonderful children. Her love for flowers lead her to work in the floral industry for many years. She was very talented and made beautiful arrangements for many clients including family and friends. Mrs. Heath loved spending time with her family and was always going above and beyond for her children and grandchildren whom she was affectionately known by as “Nony”.
Mrs. Heath is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Jack D. Heath of Franklin, TN; son Kevin (Christa) Heath of Huntsville, AL; daughter Celeste (Chris) Richey of Franklin, TN; sister Karen (Jeff) Rippy of Lebanon, TN; brothers-in-law Walter (Sherry) Heath of Franklin, KY, and Tony (Glenda) Heath of Goodlettsville, TN; sister-in-law Rosalyn (Hank) Abbott of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Gracen (Josh) Clifton, Jackson Clifton, Emma Clifton, Henry Clifton, Macayla (Trey) Woodall, Bradley Heath, Cassie Heath, Collin Heath, Caitlin (Dusty) Jackson, Christopher (Chrissy) Richey; great grandchildren Annabelle Woodall, Tripp Richey, Livi Richey, and Reese Richey along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Scott B. Heath; mother Ruth Roaden; father and step-mother Jim and Tina Roaden; mother and father-in-law Irene and Walter Heath; and sister Sylvia Carney.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all of the staff at St Thomas West Hospital, NHC The Trace, and Alive Hospice for their compassionate care.
Mrs. Heath will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her but her family finds peace in knowing she is finally reunited with her precious son Scotty.
Family will receive guests beginning at 10am until the time of service at 11am on Monday August 19th at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. Pallbearers will be Jackson Clifton, Henry Clifton, Bradley Heath, Josh Sanders, Christopher Richey, and Daniel Rippy.

Archie Ruth Owen, age 82 of Hendersonville, TN passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. She was born March 8, 1942 in Clarksville, TN to Wiley & Agnes Maybell Davis Bateman. She was a very creative person and had been the owner and operator of Flowers by Archie. She had also worked at GENESCO, American Press and the Water Bonnett. She had raised lots of children, which included tons of cooking and laundry over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Lee Owen; daughter-in-laws, Lynn Owen and Tammy Owen; brother-in-law, Ed Nicholson; grandson, Lee Owen. Larry Leroy Murphy age 80 of Chapmansboro, TN passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
His wishes were to be cremated and there are no services planned at this time.
Larry was born September 28, 1943 in Wilder, TN to the late George and Daisey Murphy. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Kenny Murphy, Waylon Murphy, Jim Cade and sister, Geraldine Poteet.
He was a truck driver for a number of years and then worked as a drywall installer. He served his country in the US Army.

Larry Edward Patton, age 73 of White House passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1951 in Nashville, TN to Bruce Edward & Mildred Louise Downs Patton. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. After serving in the Navy, he owned and operated an HVAC business in the 1980’s. He worked as a truck driver and had driven for Northern Telecom, Bestway, Ratliff and Arkansas Freight. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, before his death and Chase Elliott.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Patton; sister, Billie Barnes. Mrs. Winters was born on October 13, 1928, in Cheatham County, Tennessee, to the late D.F. “Bill” & Cora Binkley Bess. She was a retired librarian with the Montgomery County Board of Education, and a member of Stroudsville Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Winters; step-mother, Cynthia “Tommie” Bess; brother, George Bolton Bess; and daughter-in-law, Belinda Winters.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Lyons; sons, Rick Winters, Mark (Linda) Winters, and Tommy (Judy) Winters; sister, Audrey Greer; grandchildren, Andy Winters, Cortney (Chris) Gunn; Matthew Winters, Justin (Jennifer) Winters, Allison (Charlie) Jackson, and Tara Winters; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Swatman was born July 21, 1942 in Ridgetop, Tennessee to John and Bessie Dickens Callis. She was an office manager and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Swatman was preceded in death by her siblings, Forde Callis, Lorene Lusten, Margaret Edging, Billie Sue Adcock, Lillian Lambert, Glenn Callis, Francis Davis, Olie Callis Bobby Callis, Nolan Callis, Vernon Callis and Dennis Callis.

Roy “Preston” Holt, age 82, of Dickson, Tennessee, died Monday, August 12, 2024, at NHC Healthcare in Dickson.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 o’clock pm, Wednesday, August 14th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Gene Brown officiating.
Following the funeral service Mr. Holt’s remains were cremated.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 11:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.
Mr. Holt was born on June 24, 1942, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to the late Roy & Johnnie Mitchell Holt. He was retired from State Industries. He loved bluegrass music and danced with Ralph Sloan & The Tennessee Travelers for 14 years. Mr. Holt was a member of Stroudsville Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Holt; son; Rob Roy Holt; and brother, Mitchell Holt.
He is survived by his son, Ronald (Tabitha) Holt; daughter, Laura Reeder; brother, Roger Dale Holt (Judy); sister, Brenda Gayle Holt (John); 8 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Obituary for Margie Fae Whatley
Marjorie Fae Butler Whatley, age 96 of White House passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 at Carriage Crossings Senior Living in Madison, TN. She was born June 7, 1928 in Trout, LA to Benjamin H. & Isalee Corley Butler. She completed vocational training in Ferriday, and achieved certifications in clerical and administrative duties, which she used in her early career. She later worked for, and retired from, Georgia Pacific in Port Hudson, Louisiana. Not satisfied with full retirement, she returned to work for Louisiana State University, in the School of Education. As a career woman, she was active in her Business and Professional Women organizations. As a lifelong learner, she went from dictation and shorthand, to manual typewriters, to Microsoft Oice applications, before she could no longer use a computer. She grew beautiful houseplants and kept a greenhouse for many years. On her 90th birthday, she received a commendation from the Louisiana House of Representatives. However, she was quick to tell anyone that she was “not old, just well ripened.” She loved the Bible and singing hymns, loved to feed and serve visitors, and loved Jesus.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Isaac E. Whatley; daughter, Dorthice Whatley Clary; son, C. Garvin Whatley; sister, Fairlean Butler Cupples; brothers, Delo Butler, John Martin Butler, Benjamin Hensley Butler & Ronald Butler; grandchildren, Martin Bijou and Chad Whatley. She is survived by her daughters, Dennise (Richard) Huffman, White House, TN, Delene (James) Whatley Rawls, Caddo, OK; daughter-in-law, Annette Cannon Whatley, Denham Springs, LA; brothers, Davis Butler, Covington, LA and Donald Butler, St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Kari (Wayne) Clary Thomas, Quitman, LA, Sara Brannon, Hendersonville, TN, Christopher (Casey) Whatley. Dorothy Ann Gower, age 88, of Goodlettsville, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the home of her daughter in Greenbrier.
Funeral services were conducted at 10am Saturday, August 17th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Mike Stewart and Pastor David Rawls officiating. Burial followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 12-7pm Friday, August 16th and again from 9am until time of the service at 10am Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gower was born November 29, 1935, in Sumner County, to the late William Layton McMurtry and Ruby Nell Whitaker McMurtry. She was a homemaker and a member of Waycross Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gower was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Gower; sister, Joyce Marie Draper; and brothers, Gerald Layton McMurtry, and Michael McMurtry.
She is survived by a son, Dale Wallace (Nora) Gower; daughters, Betty Ann Thompson, Lenda Fay (Donny) Gower, Beverly Jean (Andy) Moorefield, and Brenda K (Tim) Gregory; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; and a brother, Roy Lee McMurtry.

Victoria Kay Davis, age 67 of White House passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 at her home. She was born July 2, 1957 in White House, TN to Alfred Raydean & Sylvia Ray Brown. She enjoyed antique shopping for primitives, flower gardening and going to yard sales. She enjoyed taking care of her home and her family and everything that goes with making a house feel like a home.

She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Paul Davis, White House, TN; sons, Kirt (Heather) Brinkley, White House, TN and Paul Davis, Jr., Sarasota, FL; daughter, Carrie (Stephen) MacNeil, White House, TN; brother, Barry Brown, Millersville, TN; 5 grandchildren, Christa, Dylan, Connor, Audrey and Dean; 4 great-grandchildren, Ryder, Crimson, Bough and Lila.
Funeral service was held Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 2pm in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Robert Byrns officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery with family an friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation was Thursday, August 15, 2024 10am-2pm at the funeral home.

Jaqueline “Michelle” Hix-Keffer, age 62, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Saturday, August 10, 2024, at her home.
Her wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, September 14, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Randy Riggs officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00PM until the hour of service at 3:00PM.
Michelle was born on October 15, 1961, in Madison, Tennessee, to the late John Hix, Jr. and Margie Kernall Overstreet. She was a retired accountant who loved camping, horseback riding, visiting Cades Cove, and dearly loved all animals. She was a Christian.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Keffer; sister, Beverly (David) Tidwell; niece & nephews, Rebecca Tidwell, Jeremiah (Hailey) Meyer, and Joel Tidwell; best friend, Kathy (Ross) Barrett; and her beloved Chocolate Labrador, Magnolia “Maggie”.
