Obituary for Peggy Ward

Peggy WardPeggy June Ward, age 76, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at her home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 12:30pm in the Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Mike Proctor and Reverend Dylan Proctor officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Wednesday morning from 10am until 12pm.

Ms. Ward was born February 19, 1941 in Robertson County to the late James Elmore “Pat” and Sally Belle Morris Ward. She worked at Morningside Assisted Living and was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.

floral squareIn addition to her parents Ms. Ward is preceded in death by her sister, Anita Belle Ward. She is survived by her siblings, Mary Gragg of Springfield, Estelle Hughes of Springfield, Ottis (Louise) Ward of Allensville, KY, Loy Ward of Springfield, Ann (Jerry) Sloan of Springfield and Patsy Sloan of Springfield; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Millie Lee Bolton

Millie Lee BoltonMillie Lee Bolton, age 89, of Joelton, TN passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Brother Ronald Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Ashland City with Rusty Butler, Mickey Darby, Bill Darby, Bobby Phillips, David Phillips and Andy Phillips serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00pm-8:00pm and again on Thursday, 9:00am until the hour of service at 11:00am.

Mrs. Bolton was born October 31, 1927 in Alexandria, TN to Connie W. and Millie Flora Jackson Pittman. She was a retired nurse technician from Bordeaux Hospital and was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Millie is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Howard Bolton; son, Billy Ray Bolton; and 5 brothers and sisters.

floral squareShe is survived by sons, Howard (Joanne) Bolton of Chapmansboro and Terry (Betty Jean) of Joelton; daughters, Wanda Lance of Joelton and Connie Ellis of Madison; grandchildren, Amanda Parchman, Cristin Childress, Benjamine Bolton, Pam Crenshaw, Matthew Bolton, Leann Bolton and Becky Metcalf/Osborne; 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Obituary for Reed Nicholson

Reed NicholsonKenneth Reed Nicholson, age 81, of Chapmansboro, TN, born April 15, 1936, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017. Reed leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Laura Frances Burnett Nicholson. He is preceded in death by his son, Ken; his parents, R.B. and Tennie Mai Harris Nicholson; brother, Paul; and sister, Kendria. He is survived brother, Donnie (Linda) Nicholson; sisters, Dot Dowlen, Pat Rippetoe and Jill (Jerry) Hardin; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Brother Billy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ashland City with Chuck Culwell, Michael Douglas, Tyler Hulen, Trace Owen, Matt Pope and Brandon Weaver serving as pallbearers. The family will received friends on Tuesday from 5:00pm-8:00pm and again on Wednesday, 9:30am until the hour of service at 11:00am.

Obituary for Charles Head, Sr.

Charles Head, Sr.Charles Elliott Head, Sr., age 87, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 4pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Ed Coy officiating.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1pm until the hour of service at 4pm.

Burial was held in the Springfield Memorial Gardens on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11am with Mr. Head’s grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Head was born April 30, 1930 in Springfield to the late Elliott R. and Lorene Powell Head. He worked in Quality Control at Mansfield Tire & Rubber Company, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was the longest living member of New Chapel United Methodist Church.

floral squareIn addition to his parents Mr. Head is preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Bush Head; brother, Billy P, Head; sister, Sarah Belle Head; and his grandson, Tyler J. Head. He is survived by his sons, Chuck Head of Springfield and Landon (Shirley) Head of Stafford, VA; daughters, Charlene (John) Sullivan of Springfield and Sara Finnegan of Columbia, TN; brothers, Joe Head of Springfield and Robert (Regina) Head of Pleasant View; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Doris "Dolly" Sue Graves“Dolly”-Age 95 formerly of McKenzie, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Nova Health Care and Rehab in Weber City, VA. She was born April 2, 1922 in Waverly, TN to Willie and Martha Clera Carroll Edney. She worked as a homemaker but had previously worked as a health care provider/profession. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Carvy Truman Graves; grandsons, Ronald, Barry, Tod and Jerry Lynn Graves; daughter-in-law, Kitty Graves.

She is survived by her sons, Rev. Jerry Lofton (Judy) Graves, Shelbyville, TN, Ronald Nelson (Jan) Graves, San Antonio, TX, Daniel Lynn Graves, San Antonio, TX and Dr. Roy D. (Fran) Graves, Kingsport, TN; daughter, Connie (Lance) Cunningham, Cincinnati, OH; Grandmother of Jimmy (Tammy) Graves, Marilyn (Greg) Tate, Lyn (Christy) Graves, Dolly (Tim) Roach, Mancy (Alex) Pendergrass Waite, Wendy (Jason) Allison and Matthew Graves. She also has sixteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. sisters, Alice Johnson, Sarah (Ron) Ellis and Helen Ziecheck.

Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held Friday, September 15, 2017 9am-11am prior to the service at the funeral home.
