James Robert McCasland, Jr.

James Robert McCasland Jr. was born on December 29th, 1947, in Madison, TN. At the age of 76, on May 2nd, 2024, at 2:16 p.m., Jesus took him home to live forever.
He was preceded in death by Barbra Jane Webb McCasland (late wife/mother of children), James Robert McCasland Sr. (father), Bessie Bowers McCasland (mother), Louise “Nana” Webb (mother-in-law) Cindy Elaine McCasland (younger sister), and Elan Webb McCasland (grandson).
He is survived by Debbie Whittemore Walrond (life-long friend). Siblings: Barbra McCasland Talley and Carol McCasland Edwards. Children: James Robert McCasland III and Jason Webb McCasland Sr. (Leslie). Grandchildren: Nikki Mae McCasland Mercer, Seana Linn McCasland Mansfield, John Michael McCasland, Anna Grace McCasland, Sadie Jane McCasland, Jason Webb McCasland Jr., Abbey Mae McCasland, and Rylie Elizabeth McCasland. 6 great-grandchildren, plus one to be delivered in September of 2024. Multiple nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and uncountable cousins.
Robert was drafted into the United States Army on September 14th, 1967. He was a sky soldier in the 173rd Airborne Brigade Infantry. He was honorably discharged on August 31st, 1969, having served 1 year, 11 months, and 18 days. He then went on to become a boilermaker for L&N Railroad in Nashville, TN. He retired and became a successful entrepreneur and valuable citizen of Goodlettsville, TN.
James Robert McCasland Jr.’s Celebration of Life will be held at his home, 5105 Brick Church Pike, Goodlettsville, TN, on Saturday, June 15th, 2024. Visitation will be held from 4p.m.-6p.m. The service will begin at 6 p.m., with a reception to follow. All are welcome.
Honorary Pallbearers: Goodlettsville Pool Hall Gang and GHS class of 1965.
Active Pallbearers: James Robert McCasland III, Stanley Houston McQuiston Jr., Terry Farrar Clendenin, Joshua Farrar Clendenin, Hansel Davenport Jr., and Zachary Nathaniel Gibson.

Obituary for Peggy Clinard
Peggy Marie Sloan Clinard, 77, of Hendersonville, passed from this life on Friday May 3, 2024, at The Waters of Gallatin.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday May 9th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Diane Coppock officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Austin Clinard, Dalton Clinard, Richie Howden, Jason Ward, Chris Smith, and Brian Watson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Peggy was born October 8, 1946, in Greenbrier, to the late Woodrow Wilson and Jessie Lee Dickerson Sloan. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenbrier. Peggy enjoyed bowling, cooking, and bird watching, especially her hummingbirds. She was always a ballpark mom when her boys were playing ball and was a huge Nashville Predator’s fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Charlie Sloan, and by her sisters: Barbara Witt and Faye Watson. Peggy is survived by her husband of 61 years: John D. Clinard of Hendersonville, by her sons: Tim Clinard of Hendersonville, David (Jennifer) Clinard of Castalian Springs, and Steve (Nikki West) Clinard of Portland, by her grandchildren: Paige Clinard, Austin Clinard, Kaylee Clinard, Amber Clinard, and Dalton Clinard, by her brothers: Jimmy (Shelia) Sloan of Greenbrier, Billy (Martha) Sloan of Springfield, and Danny Ray (Penny) Sloan of Greenbrier, and by her sister: Patsy Parrigin of Greenbrier.

Obituary for Nanzy Porter Stewart
Nanzy Porter Stewart was born in Pforzheim Germany, January 2, 1959. She died on May 5, 2024 at Vanderbilt Hospital awaiting a lung transplant.
She is preceded in death by her son, John Robert Stewart, Jr. and her parents, George and Sigrid Porter. She is survived by her husband, John Stewart of St. Amant, LA; siblings, Cindy L. Porter of Nashville, TN, David S. Porter (Brenda) of Springfield, TN, and Julia L. Woodard (Woody) of Mount Dora, FL; nephews Michael J. Woodard (Kimberly) and children Haley, Liam, and Greyson; and Andy C. Woodard (Emily).
She was a 1977 graduate of Greenbrier High School in TN and earned a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1981 where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. Upon graduation she worked as an auditor for the State of Tennessee followed by a career with the Internal Revenue Service for 34 years before retiring in 2016.
Nanzy was a long term resident of Louisiana and attended Newsong Community Church in Prairieville. She was an avid quilter and active member of the River City Quilt Guild of Baton Rouge, the Cajun Country Quilters of Gonzales, and other sewing groups. She had a heart for others and used her gifts by sewing items for NICU babies and dresses for children in Haiti. Nanzy also donated numerous quilts to The Giving Quilt organization in support of children’s charities including: CASA, Braveheart, and Threads of Love.
She loved traveling with her family and enjoyed gardening, reading and outdoor activities.
Nanzy was loved by many and made a positive impact in the lives of others.
There will be a Celebration of Life service followed by a reception on Saturday, May 18, 2024, 1 – 4 pm held at Newsong Community Church, 18465 Old Perkins Rd, Prairieville, LA 70769.
In lieu of flowers, Nanzy had requested that donations be made to Newsong Community Church, St. Jude’s, Children International, or World Wildlife Fund.

Obituary for Charles Ernest Adkins
Charles Ernest Adkins age 58 of Cottontown passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1966 in Lorain, Ohio to William Thomas and Margaret and Thomas Adkins. He worked as a cook for McDonald’s. He enjoyed reading and watching Star Trrek. He had an incredible memory for history. He had attended Cherry Mound Baptist Church and had proudly served his country in the US Army during Grenada.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brothers, Chris Adkins, Cottontown, TN and Billy (Tamma) Adkins, Lancaster, KY; numerous nieces and nephews.
There are no services or visitation planned. It was his wishes to be cremated and his ashes interred in the Belcher Family Cemetery in Elkhorn City, KY.

Obituary for Marsha Putnam
Marsha Putnam, age 69 of Springfield, TN passed away on April 30, 2024 at her residence. She was born on February 13, 1955 a beloved daughter of the late Hallie and Mary Page Boren.
Marsha graduated from St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing in 1975, and then spent most of her 40+ year nursing career as a trauma and ER nurse at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital, then later Northcrest Medical Center. She had a loving and compassionate heart for her family and others as she opened her home to those in need. She spent her retirement watching and caring for her grandbabies and spending as much time as possible with family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Brennon Putnam; brothers, Dwayne Trump and Dwight Trump.
She leaves behind her loving and caring family. Husband Dale Putnam, sons, Russell Putnam (Whitney), Eric Putnam and Brian Putnam (Kayla); grandchildren, Cyril Woods, Mariyiah Putnam, Gibson Putnam, Carson Putnam and Allie Putnam; sister, Laura Rush (David) nieces; Susan Trump and Mary Galloway (Kelvin), and other special family; Krysta Long and R.J. Whited III.
Visitation and funeral service will be held at Anglin Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 10:30 am and will continue until the time of service at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at the Page cemetery with Brian Putnam Officiating. Pallbearers: Cyril Woods, Bennie Pearson, Wallace Love, Rich Durant, Eric Putnam, and Bob Saunders.

Obituary for Wanda Henson
Wanda L. Henson, age 73 of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Her remains are to be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Wanda was born July 21, 1950 in Springfield to the late Richard and Geraldine Cannon Osborne. She loved the Lord and was a member of Christ Community Apostolic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth “Earl” Henson; sister, Rita K. Dorris; and brothers, Mac Osborne and Paul Richard Osborne.
Surviving Wanda are her daughter and son-in-law, Kandi and Michael Morris of Cedar Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Richie and Gina Osborne of Springfield; grandchildren, Marrisa, Jimmy, Robert, Benjamin, and Thomas Morris; and great grandchildren, Markus, Malkum, and Mathis Morris.

Bill Shepard Obituary
Mikeum Stevenson “Bill” Shepard, 81, of Adams, passed from this life on Tuesday April 30, 2024, at his home.
Graveside services were conducted Thursday May 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Bellwood Cemetery in Adams with Tim Harris officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Shepard, Isaac Shelton, Eli Shelton, Bayard Shelton, Delvin Hester, and Sammy Bryant. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Bill was born September 5, 1942, in Stroudsville, to the late Samuel Franklin “S.F.” and Ruby Elizabeth Watts Shepard. He was a lifelong farmer and was of the Baptist faith. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christine Clinard Shepard, of Adams, by his son: Frank Stevenson “Steve” Shepard and wife Cathy of Adams, by his daughter: Kendra Lynn Shepard Shelton and husband Bayard of Cedar Hill, by his brother: Robert P. “Tippy” Shepard and wife Linda of Stroudsville, by his sister: Dimple Warren and husband Mike of Cottontown, by his grandchildren: Eli and Isaac Shelton of Cedar Hill, by his bonus grandchildren: Kathrine (Landon) Wehrung, Andrew (Kelly) Francis, by his bonus great grandchildren: Greyson, Layla, Violet, and Olivia Wehrung, Brett (Journey) Francis, Britney (Chris) Francis, Tyler Francis, and Levi Francis, and by his bonus great great grandchild: Riley Francis.

Obituary for Mary Jane Duty
Mary Jane Duty with eyes of blue, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2024, after a long, hard battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones where she spent her final days in the home of her youngest daughter in TN. She was born in Arlington, TX, to Joe and Mary Beaver and was 1 of 5 children. She was a graduate of Sam Houston High School and later worked as a Superintendent of Trammell Crow Construction, a job that she was most proud of. Mary also enjoyed the simple pleasures including chatting with friends (Allen & Nancy Austin), quilting, and sewing, fishing and hunting where she outshined the men, gardening and feeding the hummingbirds, often going through a gallon of food a day. She often spoke of her travels to Venezuela and had hoped to return some day. Mary had a great sense of humor and an uncanny ability to know things she really didn’t have firsthand knowledge of almost like a mind reader. She was to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband in June and loved all her family.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Joe and Mary Beaver and her sister, Betty Gillum. She is survived by her husband, Randy Duty of Buncombe, IL, her daughters Kim Wempa of Portland, TN, Kelly Alperin and her husband, Brian, of Norfolk, VA, Jayme Urich and her husband, Michael, of Cross Plains, TN, her brothers Joe Beaver Jr. and wife, Dee, of Hickory Creek, TX, John Beaver of Broughton, IL, and sister Janda Hooper and husband, Steve, of Siloam Springs, AK, niece Landa Ellsworth, nephew Lance Hooper and niece Latisha Keith, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her Yorkshire Terrier, Sophie.
The family wishes to thank Vanderbilt University and Alive Hospice care staff and Austin Bell funeral home for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, TN.

Faye V. McQuiston, age 81, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Mrs. McQuiston was born June 19, 1942, in Madison, NC to the late Dewey Lee Vernon and Alice Irene Hooker Vernon. She worked in the housekeeping department at Opryland Hotel most of her life.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McQuiston was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie McQuiston Sr.; sons, Johnny McQuiston and Oscar Lee Briggs Jr.; and a sister, Judy Vernon.
She is survived by a daughter, Denise (Adrian) Bernhardt; sons, Joseph (Samantha) McQuiston, Walter McQuiston, Larry (Dawn) Armstrong, Michael (Marie) Armstrong, and Terry (Lindsay) McQuiston; 27 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She worked as a sales associate for Macy’s before her retirement. She enjoyed cooking for her family and playing with her grandchildren. She especially loved family trips to the beach.

Lou Verne Hall, age 83 of Cross Plains passed away Wednesday, May 1,2024 at Hendersonville Medical Center. She was born October 10, 1940 in Portland, TN to John and Eura Keith Huntsman. She worked in sales for Wal-Mart until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, going to yard sales and sitting on the porch visiting with family. She loved spending time with her family more than anything else.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years, Dale Hall; brothers, James, John and Charles; sisters, Sue and Linda. She is survived by her sons, Karl (Rhonda) Bond, Center, KY and Ken Bond, Cross Plains, TN; step-daughters, Lynette Hall, Beth Melton, Kristi Lancaster, all of IL; step-son, Roger Hall, IL; sister, Patty Seay, Lafayette, TN; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Caleb was born on December 5, 1974 in Nashville, Tennessee to Donna Anderson & the late Gary Short. He was in management at Frontier Foundation. He also taught at PVCS for 12 years, where he was loved by many teachers and students and also coached football. Caleb enjoyed bowling and mechanical work and was a member of Good Springs Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gene Anderson; paternal grandparents, Almond & Helen Short; and mother-in-law, Lou Ann Nicholson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 26 years, Deanna Short; son, Isaac Short; daughter, Delaney Short; brother, Justin (Abby) Short; sister, Rebecca Short; maternal grandmother, Eve Wright; brother-in-law, Troy Nicholson; nieces, Katherine Nicholson, Ella Short, and Jacelyn McCluskey; nephew, Kendrick Short; and father-in-law, Bobby (Charlotte) Nicholson.

Koda was born on February 24, 2021, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Darron and Brandi Inman Huskey. He was a sweet child who loved dinosaurs, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by sister, Harper Huskey; paternal grandfather, Chris Huskey; paternal grandmother, Kristen Crooke; maternal grandparents, Adam & Christy Inman; and uncle, Hunter Huskey.

Obituary for Marlene Gregg
Marlene L. Gregg, age 90 of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024 at her home. She was born on November 19, 1933 in Bellingham, WA to the late Waldermer “Curly” and Ethel Whitney Gallman. She was a graduate of Mt. Baker High School in Denning, WA. After graduation she began working for the telephone company and met her future husband, Thurman Gregg at a dance hall while he was stationed at Oak Harbor as a part of the United States Navy. They married in 1955 in Mt. Vernon, WA and later moved to Tennessee. Thurman went to MTSU and Marlene worked for the phone company in Nashville and they later moved to Springfield, arriving in a 1949 automobile that never started again. Marlene then opened the Sewing Basket with the help of her father-in-law, Jim, which she ran for 35 years.
Early on, Marlene, who did not want to be a golf widow, was taught by Thurman and they went as a family to play golf. She was a believer and a longtime member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she taught 2nd grade and participated in Vacation bible School and Senior Adult Choir.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Thurman, who passed away in November of 2023; her parents; her son and daughter-in-law, Steven J. and Rita F. Gregg; and brother, Merle Gallman.
Surviving her are her granddaughters, Keri Ann Gregg of Springfield and Kristen Gregg of Virginia; great granddaughters, Nona and June; nieces, Martha Bray, Margaret Gallman, and Marlene Gallman Thurston; and sisters-in-law, Marion Gallman, Wanda Gregg, and Patti Gregg.
A Celebration of life was held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. David Evans officiating. The family received friends on Tuesday from 11 AM until the hour of service.

Obituary for Fred Morris
Fred Thomas Morris, age 92, of Clarksville, Tennessee, died Sunday, April 28, 2024 at his home.
Funeral services were conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 2nd, with Bro. Gene Parton officiating. Burial followed in Mallory’s Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 1st from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and again on Thursday from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 11:00AM.
Mr. Morris was born on August 6, 1931, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to the late William & Cora Johnson Morris. He was retired from A.O. Smith after 20 years of service. Prior to that he worked for over 20 years in the snuff/tobacco industry. He also farmed and was a member of the East Montgomery Fire department for many years. Mr. Morris was a longtime member of Oaklawn Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Jean Morris; sons, Roger Morris & Danny Morris; grandson, Jimmy Parshall; and 10 brothers & sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Dawn (Karl) Parshall; grandchildren, Jeremy (Dana) Morris, John Morris, Nick Morris, Jessica (James) Cole, and Cody (Vicki) Parshall; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Aspen, Wyatt, Luke, Carsyn, Savannah, Jude, Hayden, Oliver, Colton, and Makayla.

Obituary for John Nicholson
John Baxter Nicholson, 77, of Springfield, passed from this life on Saturday April 20, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday April 24th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Hart Cemetery with Jerry V. Wooden, Corey Richardson, Jeff Walker, Mike Farmer, John Beasley, and John Fox serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Hart, Robert Head, Morton Penick, JL Alley, Bobby Choate, Winfield Wilkins, and Denny Choate. The family received friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
John was born July 27, 1946, in Ashland City, to the late Baxter and Pauline Hagewood Nicholson. He was a graduate of Battle Ground Academy (BGA) Class of 1964. He went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, and he then later graduated from the LSU School of Banking. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a community banker for many years and was a retired Senior Vice President from F&M Bank in Springfield. John was a member of Springfield First United Methodist Church, was a past president of the Springfield Country Club, a former member of the Springfield Lions Club, and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution-Descendants of Valley Forge. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, antiquing, and playing golf.
John is survived by his wife: Mary Hart Nicholson of Springfield, by his son: Brian Nicholson and wife Lara of Springfield, by his daughters: Kimberly Nicholson Walker and husband Jeff of Springfield, and Kristen Nicholson of Nashville, by his grandchildren: Sarah and Lauren Nicholson, by his sisters: Gerri Nicholson of Buffalo, NY, Emily Savage of South Riding, VA, and his twin sister, Mary Nicholson of Woodbridge, VA, by the mother of his children: JoAnne Nicholson of Springfield, and by several nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Peggy Lynn Gower
Peggy Lynn Gower, age 74, of Springfield, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral in Greenbrier with Brother Randy Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens, with William Eugene Gower, Jr., Joseph Irwin, Joshua Gower, Tyler Cato, Seth Gower, Jay Shutt serving as pallbearers and Jeremy Sneed serving as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00pm- 6:00pm at the funeral home and Wednesday from 11am till time of Service at 1pm.
Mrs. Gower was born July 17, 1949 in Hamilton County to the late Eugene and Marian Burns Smith. She worked as a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. In her spare time she would play bingo, do puzzles, color, read, cook and watch game shows.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Gower is preceded in death by her husband, Roy B Gower, brothers, Johnny and Dennis Smith, and daughter Jennifer Gower.
Mrs. Gower is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Bennett and Melody Gower III of Greenbrier and William Eugene and Cindy Gower of Adams; and daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Lynette and Robert Sneed of Cedar Hill; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Oscar Benton Jones, age 77, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Waters of Springfield.
Funeral services were conducted at 2pm Sunday, April 28th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Jack Fry officiating. Burial followed in the Greenbrier Cemetery with Zack Jones, Nick Jones, Baylee Jones, Noah Jones, Luke Jones, Blake Jones, and Nate Jones serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Jones was born December 27, 1946, in Robertson County, to the late William Sidney Jones and Marion Katherine Hughes Jones. He was a General Contractor most of his life.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Kaye Hulsey Jones; son, Thomas Lee Jones; and brothers, David Hughes, William Jones, and Ronnie Jones.
He is survived by sons, Christopher Benton (Kathy) Jones, Oscar Scott (Della) Jones, and David Keith (Tina) Jones; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister, Martha (L.C.) Glenn.

Mrs. Mears was born October 5, 1937 in Nashville to the late Shelby and Maude Ray Blick Gorrell. She worked for a cleaning service and was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Nashville. Mrs. Mears loved yard sales and catching up with family and friends.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Mears is preceded in death by her husband, James Edgar Mears, brother, Hunter Gorrell, sisters, Nola Stone and Eurene Tate and grandson, Terry Lee Merritt, Jr.

Richard was born on March 5, 1964 in Neptune City, New Jersey, to Linda Lou Brady & the late Richard Allen Brady. He was the owner and operator of R & R Drywall. Richard was a huge fan of any type of car and motorcycle racing and was especially fond of Dale Earnhardt. He loved his family and was very faithful and steadfast as a husband, father, son, grandfather and brother. He was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a trustee.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cherri Brady; son, Richard “Daniel” (Katrina) Brady; daughters, Brittany (Jeremy) Patrick and Victoria Shea (fiance` Joseph Leurs); brother, Ronald Brady; grandchildren, Jacob Patrick, Joshua Patrick, Brooklynn Patrick, Blakely Patrick, Luke Brady, Lily Brady, Aksel Brady, Ally Brady, Haley Leurs, and one on the way (Aeryn Shaye Brady); and one great-grandchild on the way.
