Obituary for Karen Bracey Fulton

Karen Bracey Fulton, 57, of Springfield, passed from this life on Wednesday August 21, 2019 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan, WY from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday August 29th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Terry Hunter, Charles Gregory, Bud Johnson, Roger Herndon, Kyle Herndon, and Coby Wilson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers with be the employees of Springfield Kroger. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Karen was born November 6, 1961 in Springfield. She was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 1980. She has worked at the Springfield Kroger’s for 40 years and was presently an Accounting Clerk. Karen was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and the UFCW Local for the past 40 years. She was of the Baptist faith. Karen’s three loves in life was going on motorcycle trips all over the country, spending time with her friends and family, and shopping.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years: Barry Fulton of Springfield, by her parents: Ralph and Jerry Ann Felts Bracey of Greenbrier, by her sisters and brother-in-law: Dee Herndon of Greenbrier, Stephanie and Patrick Baldwin of Greenbrier, by her nephews: Roger (Stephanie) Herndon, Kyle (Hannah) Herndon, Coby (Kim) Wilson, by her great nieces: Harper and Eloise Herndon, and by her great nephews: Maxwell, Michael, Cooper, and Matthew Herndon.

Obituary for Betty Washington Wagner

Betty Washington Robinson Wagner, age 89, of War, West Virginia, passed away in Hendersonville, Tennessee on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked for over 40 years in the banking industry in War, West Virginia. There she was an avid member of Calvary Baptist Church and was awarded the Distinguished West Virginian Award. In her later years she enjoyed Center Point Church and being a part of their Happy Hearts Group.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” H. Wagner; and son, A. Keith Wagner. She is survived by her grandson, Adam (Carmen) Wagner; a granddaughter, Afton Wagner; and daughter-in-law, Vickie Wagner.

She was preceded in death by her parents Homer & Thurlie Hunley; husband Herbert Yunker; and sister Jeanetta Bracey.

Survivors include her children Herbie Yunker, Ricky Yunker, Cookie Yunker, Mience Yunker, and Chris Yunker; 3 siblings; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Obituary for Mary Clay Pitt (Springfield, Tennessee)

June 8, 1931 – August 22, 2019. Mary Clay Pitt, 88, of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away August 22nd, 2019. As a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt she will be missed greatly. Her love for her family was her passion. She hung many pictures of her family in her home. Mary’s love for family influenced her to research family history. Genealogy became more than a pastime.

A native of Logan County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Henry Wood. She was a former Wa’mart employee, a telephone operator, and a restaurant employee. She worked alongside her mother in the restaurant sharing their cooking and baking talents.

Originally from Advairville, KY, she also lived in Glasgow, KY where her mother was from, She moved to Louisville in 1952 and had a family. In 1973 she moved to Springfield, TN.

Her membership at Grace Baptist Church in Springfield, Tennessee brought her many enriching experiences not only through church but also through the bible studies, She had made a  number of friends in church who kept in touch and had many wonderful visits at her home after she was no longer able to travel to church.

floral squareShe was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pitt; her parents, Mary and Henry Wood; son, Tommy Jaggers; sister, Elizabeth Crabtree; brother, Felix Wood; and grandson, Michael St. Clair.

Survivors include a son, Leslie Jaggers; two daughters, Pam Billings (Ted) and Donna St Clair (Billy); grandchildren, Stephanie Elliott (Del); Crystal Cox (Shawn); and Marie Billings (Jeff Adams); great grandchildren, Evelyn, Katherine, and Nathan Elliott; Taylor Cox; nieces, Kaye Minchey; Beverly Neely (Allen Coulter); Barbara Wood; Debbie Wood; Mary Cook (John); and nephews, Jerry Wood (Suzy); Joe Wood.

Ronald “Ronnie” Hutchison, 68, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday August 18, 2019 at his home. Graveside services were conducted Thursday August 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Tim Harris officiating. Friends and family served as pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Ronnie was born January 2, 1951 in Springfield. He was a retired welder from Unarco. Ronnie loved fishing and working on cars. He had a great love for Camaro’s, especially his 1969 Camaro. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father: Henry Hutchison, his mother: Mary Lou Adams Matthews, his wife: Cheryl Brown Hutchison, by his brother: Eddie Hutchison, and by his step-floral squarefather: John L. Matthews.

Ronnie is survived by his brothers: John Bailey Hutchison of Goodlettsville and Billy K. Hutchison of Springfield, by his sisters: B. Micki Hopkins of Springfield and Brenda Lou Pitts of Russellville, KY, and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Sandra Kay Stark Richards, 68, passed from this life on Saturday August 17, 2019 at her home. A Celebration of Life service was conducted Thursday August 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Denny Burchett officiating. The family received friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Sandra was born July 13, 1951 in Robertson County to the late Johnnie B. and Helen Mae Mazanac Stark. She was a graduate of the East Robertson High School Class of 1969. She was a Deputy Clerk with the Robertson County Clerk’s Office and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Sandra was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and she enjoyed cooking, traveling, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Eric Richards, and by her siblings: Joseph Stark, Jerry Stark, and Judith Ann Stark.

Teresa Emalyn Thompson Hearn, 74, of Adairville, KY, passed away on Saturday August 17, 2019 at North Crest Medical Center.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday August 21st at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville, KY with Brother Alan Woodard officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Mrs. Hearn was born May 30, 1945 in Nashville. She worked as a teacher’s aid for the Logan County School System. Mrs. Hearn loved her cats, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father: George M. Gill, by her mother: Martha Louise Finley McGreger, by her husbands: Kenneth Ray Thompson, Sr., and Louis Hoy Hearn, and by her son: Kenneth Ray Thompson, Jr.

Obituary for William Donald Price

William Donald Price, 80, of Adairville, KY, passed away on Saturday August 17, 2019 at his home.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday August 21st at 10:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dakota Norris and Reverend Andy Ward officiating. Interment followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery in White House with Nick Price, Billy Price, Bill Crabtree, Allen Lancaster, Eric Suggs, and Grady Peay serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Brown, Kenneth McDuffee, Tom McDuffee, James Robert McAllister, and the Elders of Mt. Denson Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The family received friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Price was born June 23, 1939 in Adairville, KY to the late William Henry and Lola Mae Brown Price. He was a retired Plant Manager for Auburn Hosiery Mill. Mr. Price was a member of Mt. Denson Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. He loved hunting and collecting arrowheads, playing golf, and gardening. He was a Dale Earnhardt, Sr. car racing fan, and was an avid fan of University of Kentucky Basketball. Mr. Price loved spending time with his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren.

He was born March 22, 1931 in Jellico, TN to Bessie Bean. He was self-employed in the hotel and food industry before his retirement and he proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of White House Masonic Lodge#700 and White House First United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Bean; brother, Dan Bean.

Edward “Ray” Hester, age 81, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Keith Howell and Brother Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Tony Lance, Brian Lance, Chris Hornbuckle, Wade Lance, Dalton Lance and Edwin Lance serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Lance, Heath Hornbuckle and Levi Hornbuckle.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 2-8pm and on Sunday from 12pm until the hour of service at 2pm.

Mr. Hester was born December 13, 1937 in Stewart County, TN to the late James Monroe and Mollie Glisson Hester. He worked as a gravel truck driver for Porter Brown Limestone Company and Hollingsworth Oil Haulers (HOH) until his retirement and was a member of the Coopertown Church of Christ. He loved to watch his grandkids play baseball and loved to mow. Mr. Hester was happy as long as he was on a tractor or in a truck.

A graveside service was held at EverRest of Cheatham Cemetery in Pleasant View, on Thursday, August 22nd, at 10:00AM with Bro. David Price officiating.

There was no visitation prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Delgado de Rios was born on October 5, 1930 in Caracas, Venezuela to the late Pedro and Lola Gonzalez Delgado. She was a homemaker and she was a great swimmer. She also won many awards as a dancer and was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Captain Gilberto Rios; and a brother, Antonio Delgado.

Buster was born on May 12, 1939 in Stroudsville, Tennessee to the late Roy and Verdie Holt Shepard. He was a drywall installer and finisher and also was a logger and farmer. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joann Shepard; brother, Randy Shepard; and sister, Mary B. Leavell.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Joseph Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Moore; daughter, Jessica Moore and her fiancé, Reid Mayo; sister, Dianne (Art) Clemons; and his fur baby, Bama.

Kendy was born on April 23, 1976 in Nashville, Tennessee to Kenneth Don and Ada Jane Walker. She was a Registered Nurse and a member of Sycamore Chapel Church of Christ.

Obituary for Vance Overton

Vance Overton of Hendersonville, Tennessee went to be with his Lord on August 17, 2019 at age 96.

He is predeceased by his parents, Russell “Russ” and Emma Overton; one brother, Elder William Overton; and four sisters Selma Roberson, Edine Robertson, Annie D Benson and Frances Coaplen. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Minnie Rice Overton; and nieces, Clarice Coaplen Rosinger of Columbia, SC, Patricia Cooper, Phyllis Ferrell, Rebecca Rice, Suzanne Rice, and Karen Rice; and nephews George Kemp, Jr., Kevin Rice, Jerry Rice, Harold Rice and Robert Rice.

Mr. Overton was a member of McFarren Missionary Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, was Past Master of Goodlettsville Masonic Lodge #271 performing Masonic Services for 35 years. He was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner and a member of the Director’s Staff of Al Menah Temple. After he retired from Nashville Machine Company, he transported children to the Shrine Hospital for 15 years.

Martha Lynn Grubbs Matthews, 80, of Greenbrier, passed away on Thursday August 15, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Monday August 19th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Oden officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Cemetery with Derek Matthews, Joe Burnett, Ryan Peck, Brian Matthews, Hunter Matthews, and Brandon Maclin serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Matthews was born October 15, 1938 in Robertson County to the late Harold R. and Ruby Shannon Grubbs. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Matthews loved fishing and bird watching. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Cecil Larry “Pa” Matthews, by her son: Randy Matthews, and by her brothers: Maxie and Joe Eldon Grubbs.

Obituary for James Richard “Ricky” Murphy

James Richard “Ricky” Murphy, 61, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday August 14, 2019 at North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Monday August 19th at 10:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Quinton Yates officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Reynolds Boyd, Grant Bell, James T. Marshall, Billy Vogle, Jack Jones, Jack Hollingsworth, Barry Head, and Gerald Jones serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Ricky was born September 8, 1957 in Springfield. He was a graduate of Jo Byrns High School Class of 1975. Ricky was a lifelong farmer. He also was an auctioneer and a was a State Bid Champion. In past years, Ricky was a premier pitcher for the Mt. Denson Church Softball team. He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where he was greatly involved in the building expansion. He enjoyed horseback riding, playing basketball, and was an avid UT Vols fan. Ricky especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Ray Patterson Morris, 88, of Springfield, passed from this life on Wednesday August 14, 2019 at The Waters of Robertson.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday August 17th at 4:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother Isaac Bourne officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Caleb Starks, Trent Hand, Vince Hand, Jeremy Rogers, Jarret Reed, Holden Reed, Isaac Bourne, and Ryan Morris serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Morris was born December 2, 1930 in Springfield to the late Ham Patterson and Mary Isabelle Frey Morris. He was veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Center Point Baptist Church. Mr. Morris was a retired farmer and was also a retired Garden Center technician with Wal-Mart. He loved growing flowers, especially roses, fishing, finding and collecting arrow heads, and his cattle. For many years, he helped Fed Metcalf bar-b-q each week.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Rebecca Louise Wilson Morris, by his grandson: Chris Stroud, and by his siblings: Ralph Morris, Billy Morris, Imogene Belt, and Julia Jones. Mr. Morris is survived by his sons: Ray Patterson (Donna) Morris, Jr., of Goodlettsville, John David (Sheila Hollis) Morris of Cedar Hill, by his daughters: Cathy Jane (Ken) Stroud of Springfield, Mary Beth (Ray) Garrison of Clarksville, and Patti Rae (Mark) Bourne of Adams, by his brother: Jimmy Lee Morris of Springfield, by his sisters: Linda Ruth Robertson of Cedar Hill, and Sandra Stranger of Russellville, KY, by 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The funeral service followed at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Cody Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Springfield. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Mr. Kemp was born August 13, 1947 in Lebanon, TN to the late Roy Hudson and Mary Ellen Wyre Kemp. He was also preceded in death by wife, Frances Ann Harris Kemp; brother, Sammy Kemp; sister, Ann Billom.

Mr. Don Sadler, age 81, of Springfield, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 at NorthCrest Medical Center. A Memorial Visitation was held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 10-11am.

Following the visitation a private entombment was held in the Springfield Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Sadler was born April 14, 1938 in Madison County, Tennessee to the late Willie “Buster” and Dorothy Corrine Meadows Sadler. He worked as a Boiler Technician for an Aerospace Company and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a baseball fanatic and Dodgers fan. He loved riding dune buggies and four wheelers and spent a lot of time in California on this hobby.

Hillary William Lane, Jr. age 68 of Portland, died on August 15, 2019 at his home in Portland. He was born on February 10, 1951 in Madison, Tennessee to the late Hillary William Lane and Evelyn Mae McMurtury Lane. He was a retired Truck Mechanic and of Christian Faith.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his half-brother, Carl Crew. Hillary is survived by his daughter, Marcy Lane Hosale and her husband Dell of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister, Sharon Groves of Portland, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Nell Crew of Hendersonville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Michele Bailey, Walt Hosale, and Tiffany Hosale; great-grandchildren, Ember Hosale and Skylar Bailey.

Visitation with the family was held on Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00pm at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House. There was no service following the visitation and his remains are to be cremated.

The family received friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burton was born June 18, 1938 in Nashville to the late Buford Luster and Rebecca Elizabeth Field Reding. She was a homemaker and worked several years at Diesel Sales and Service in Nashville as an Accounts Receivable Clerk. She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ. Mrs. Burton always loved helping on the family farm. She loved sewing and was an excellent seamstress and won many ribbons and awards at the Robertson County Fair. When her daughters were in school, she always served as a room mother. She loved going to her grandchildren’s ballgames and outings whenever she could.

He was a pipefitter for Dupont, a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and a Veteran of the US Army. He was an artist and loved painting, fishing, gardening and watching birds. He also loved watching sports.

Larry Lynn (Mac) McCormick, age 77, of Goodlettsville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

Larry was a dedicated Funeral Professional who was a licensed Funeral Director in the State of Tennessee for over 50 years. He also served in the U.S. Army doing a tour in Viet Nam. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Larry was a kind man with a heart as big as all outdoors. He dedicated his life to the funeral business and enjoyed helping others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Ruby McCormick and his brother, John D McCormick, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra McCormick; a son, Chris (Dara) McCormick; a daughter, Chauncie Davenport; his sisters, Ann McGee, Creta Ross and Carolyn Childs; and a grandson, CJ McCormick.

Larry’s family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, August 18, from 12:00pm until 7:00pm at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville. Interment service will be at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 20.

Glenn was born on February 17, 1946 in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late L.V., Sr. and Bernice Taylor Jones-Lawson. He retired after 36 years as a truck driver with Rodeway Express. He loved the outdoors, doing yardwork, and helping others any way that he could. He was a member of the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church and loved working on the outside to keep it looking beautiful.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Bobby J. Jones and L.V. Jones, Jr.; and step-daughter, Stephanie Jock.

Mr. Mitchell was born November 5, 1932 in Danville, VA to the late Dewey and Lottie Williams Mitchell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he worked as a Technical Supply Sgt. Mr. Mitchell was a singer and song writer and loved playing his guitar. He loved wood carving, playing cards and fishing and was also a member of the West End Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Mitchell and his brothers, Dewey Mitchell, Jr. and Billy Mitchell.

Mrs. Castelow was born March 19, 1936 in Greenbrier to the late Amos and Beatrice Cobb Matherly. She was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Castelow is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Castelow, her children, Michael Castelow and Deborah Massey, her brother, Melvin Matherly, and her sisters, Lorene Knight and Emma Burney.

floral squareMrs. Castelow is survived by her son, Danny Castelow of Goodlettsville; daughters, Kathy Gregory of Springfield and Mary (Johnny) Ralston of Portland; grandchildren, Johnny Ralston, Jr., Lilly Ralston, Brendan Ralston, Lee Castelow, Noah Ralston, Cindy Floyd, Will Gregory, Priscilla Castelow, Pennie Massey, Gennie Smith, Clarissa Hathaway and Cherie Jean Massey; and great-grandchildren, Dalton Mooneyhan, Jessey Mooneyhan, Jonah Mooneyhan, Justus Mooneyhan, Alexander Floyd, Paine Mooneyhan and Landon Floyd.
