Obituary for Mattie Lou (Chapman) Thornton Joyner
Mattie Lou Chapman Thornton Joyner, age 72, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at her home in Nashville.
She was born on April 28, 1945 to the late Cecil Wilburn and Ruby Bell Chapman.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, G.T. Thornton, and her brother, Cletus Chapman.
She is survived by her husband, Don Joyner of Nashville; her son, Donald Gene Thornton of Cedar Hill.
Also survived by her grandchildren, Kayla (David) Webb, Brittany Thornton, and Kevin Thornton; 5 great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Jackson, Jordyn, Dawson, and Noah; her brothers, Edward, Charles, Fred, and Jerry (Judy), Chapman, all of Nashville, and her sister Edith (Ed) Tidwell of Ethridge.
Mattie’s son, Donald Thornton, is a long time Robertson County resident and Martial Arts expert. Don owned and operated Thornton’s Karate Unlimited in Springfield for over 30 years. Before starting Thornton’s Karate Unlimited, Don was a Police officer for 20 years. Don spent ten years as an officer in Springfield and another ten with Goodlettsville PD. “I don’t think they make them as kind as she was anymore. Mattie loved a good meal with her family, dancing, and caring for others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 12:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017.
Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Obituary for Jerry “Buster” Morris
Jerry Raymond “Buster” Morris, age 53, of Cedar Hill, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Dennis Morris and Andy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 4-8pm and again on Sunday from 12Noon until the hour of service at 2pm.
Mr. Morris was born September 5, 1964 in Springfield to the late James Wayne and Shirley Gregory Morris. He was a heavy equipment operator and attended Eastland Heights Baptist Church.
Mr. Morris is survived by his son, Dusty (Brenda Harrison) Morris of Springfield; daughter, Ashley (Josh) Henderson of Cedar Hill; brother, Jeff Morris of Springfield; grandchildren, Joshua Eli Henderson, Easton Wayne Henderson and Kaylee Rae Morris. Mr. Morris is also survived by a host of loving aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many cousins who will miss him dearly.

Obituary for Carl Edward Johnson Jr.
Carl Edward Johnson Jr., age 64 of Greenbrier, died Wednesday November 22, 2017 at his home.
Carl was born in Nashville TN on December 4, 1954 to the late Carl Edward and Margie Jean Logan Johnson Sr.
He was a Stone Mason by trade and is survived by his wife, Janice Logan Johnson of Greenbrier; three sons and several grandchildren.
Private Graveside services were held in Greenbrier Cemetery.

Obituary for Gary Stevenson Scott
On November 19, 2017 God dispatched an Angel to call home one of his children, Gary Stevenson Scott. Gary was born on January 13, 1959 to the late John Perry and Bertha Lee Johnson Scott. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 12:00 pm in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until the hour of service at 12:00 PM
He grew up in Springfield, TN and attended Robertson County Public Schools. Gary was a very happy person who loved fishing, cooking, gospel singing, being outdoors. He was a Christian man who attended St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. Gary work for Gaylord Opryland as a security guard for 15 plus years.
Preceding him in death his parents father John Perry Scott and mother Bertha Lee Johnson Scott, his sisters, Mary Ruth Forte and Alberta Scott
He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers and sisters in law; Perry and Joyce Scott of Dublin, CA, Ricky Lane Scott of Springfield, Daniel and Davida Scott of Sandston, VA, and sisters; Katherine Marie Scott of Nashville, and Gloria Violetta Scott of Springfield.

Obituary for Cynthia Ann Searles
Cindy Searles, age 72 of Hendersonville, passed away at her home on the evening of November 23, 2017.
Cindy graduated from Randolph Union High School in Randolph, Vermont, in 1963. Later, she graduated from nursing school in Brattleboro, Vermont, and proceeded to work as an LPN at Gifford Hospital in Randolph, Vermont, and later at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
She married Anthony on April 27, 1969 in Bethel, Vermont. The two lived and worked in Vermont for several years before their daughter, Wanda-Lynn, was born. They later relocated to Tennessee, where they have lived since lived in and around the Nashville area.
Cindy was very fond of Chinese cuisine, flowers, and country music. She adored her dogs and the company of friends and family.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Hank (Anthony), her daughter, Wanda-Lynn of Hendersonville; stepdaughter, Brenda Lee King and husband Walter of Barre, Vermont; sisters-in-law, Debbie Blanchard of Bethel, Pauline Porter and Life Partner Charlie Pixley, Betty Martin and her husband Tim, Sr. of South Royalton, Vermont, and Marge Searles and Life Partner Pete Davis of Stockbridge, Vermont; a brother-in-law, Howard Searles of South Royalton, Vermont; nieces Sherry White of Barre, Vermont, and Janet Boucher of Ruskin, Florida; cousin, Elva Young of Goffstown, New Hampshire; great-nephew, Tommy White and his wife, Katie of Barre Vermont; Lifelong friends, Linda and Jerry Kimbro, Nina Leishman Burse, Sharon Bagnall, Sheila and James Brown, Carolyn Rotruck, Jeff Morris, Ernie and Sherry Farrar, Murad and Rozina, Alderman Scott Sprouse, Denise Moore, Wendy and Ben Bryner, Janice Hale, Dennis, Amber and Elizabeth Foxall, Becky Wingard, Pastor Howie Cantrell and the City Gate Church, Long Hollow Baptist Church, the staff and students of Hendersonville Christian Academy, and many more friends and family not mentioned here.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30, from 5:00pm until her Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 7:00pm from the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville, with Pastor Howie Cantrell officiating.
On her behalf, her family would like to thank all the staff who provided great care of her at Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center, Sumner Regional Medical Center, Carpenter Cancer Center and the CARIS Hospice Team.

Obituary for Barbara Jean Crawford
Age 79 of Louisville, KY passed away Wednesday. November 22, 2017. She was a native of Robertson County, TN and a member of Beechland Baptist Church. She retired from Southwest Hospital as an accounting manager. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Callie Graves.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Wayne Crawford; children, David Wayne (Kerry) Crawford and Pamela Dawn Crawford; brother, James Donald (Marcella) Graves; 2 grandchildren, Nicholas and Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm Sunday at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway in Louisville, KY. Visitation will be held from 1-4pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2pm in Hillcrest Cemetery in White House, TN. Visitation will be held from 10am-2pm, Monday prior to the service at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House.
