Obituary for Robert Lee Thomas Sr.
Robert Lee Thomas, Sr., age 85 of Springfield, died Saturday, October 20, 2018 at NorthCrest Medical Center.
His remains are to be cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Thomas was born May 9, 1933 in Robertson County to the late Cleveland and Mary Elizabeth Edwards Thomas. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was retired from pipeline work. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harrison Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Thomasine Thomas of Springfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Lee and Cheryl Wix Thomas, Jr. of Springfield and Rollin Stephens and Jodie Fiser Thomas of Springfield; brother, Joe Thomas of Springfield; sister, Jean Tapp of Harriman; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Obituary for Ruth Sims
Ruth Fletcher Sims, age 83, of Barren Plains, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11am in the Bellwood Cemetery with Brother Paul Edwards officiating. Burial will follow with her grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Sims was born December 1, 1934 in Paris, Illinois to the late Forrest Edward and Flora Poynter Fletcher. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Paris, Illinois.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Sims is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Robert Sims and her brothers, Charles Fletcher, George Fletcher and James Fletcher.
Mrs. Sims is survived by her sons, Thomas Sims and Timothy Sims, both of Springfield and Bradley Sims and wife, Shay, of Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Catherine Cooper and husband, Grant, of Springfield; brother, Larry Fletcher of Orient, Ohio; grandchildren, Glenda Burdge, Mac Edwards, Ashley Wilks, Rhett Sims and Keely Sims; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Obituary for Dan Frederick Schultz Jr.
Dan Frederick Schultz Jr., age 55 of Hendersonville, passed away at the Hendersonville Medical Center on Tuesday, October 29.
Dan was a loving husband and served proudly in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Saratoga. He spent many years in the marina industry.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dan Schultz, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Kathy; sons, Chris Wing and Matthew Schultz (Sarah Anne); mother, Arvis Pivovarnik; brothers, Mark Schultz (Shelley) and Jay Schultz (Chris); and a sister, Jackie Moss.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, October 25 from 5pm until 7pm at Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville.

Obituary for Fred Oettel
Fred Edward Oettel, age 70, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at his home. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 2pm at the Woodmont Baptist Church in Nashville with Brother Wayne Lambert officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church from 1pm until the hour of service at 2pm.
Mr. Oettel was born September 5, 1948 in Hartsville, TN to the late Albert and Athalene Carter Oettel. He was a member of the Woodmont Baptist Church and was employed at Cummins, Inc. for over 50 years where he held the position of Vice-President of Operations until his retirement.
In addition to his parents Mr. Oettel is preceded in death by his Mother- and Father-In-Law, Emily and Bill Frost. He is survived by his wife, Laura Frost Oettel; sons, Jason (Joy) Oettel of Old Hickory and Brandon (Jessica) Oettel of Mt. Juliet; daughter, Abigail Oettel of Louisville, KY; sisters, Brenda (Rick) Smith of Smith County, TN and Connie Trammel of Hartsville, TN; and grandchildren, Baron Oettel, Benjamin Oettel, Evelyn Oettel, Vivian Oettel and Miriam Oettel.

Obituary for Tony Dowlen
Anthony “Tony” Lee Dowlen, age 65, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at his home.
There will be a memorial visitation with the family from 10:00AM- 1:00PM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View. Private family graveside services and burial of the ashes will follow the visitation.
Tony was born on June 28, 1953 in Springfield, Tennessee to Jo Ginger and the late Arnold Lee Dowlen. He was previously
employed at the Blanket Store Shell in Pleasant View and he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his son, Tony Dowlen, Jr.; daughter, Tammy Lynn (Kenny) Dodson; mother, Jo Ginger Dowlen; brothers, Jerry Dowlen and Jackie (Corrine) Dowlen; and sister, Debra Dowlen.

Obituary for Nancy Smith
Nancy Ruth Wilson Smith, age 75, of Cedar Hill, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Marvin Crouch and Brother Kenneth Wayne Head officiating. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Mike Byrum, Dickie Escue, Wayne Adams, Gary Adams, Porter Henderson and Kenneth Lewis serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 4-8pm again on Thursday from 9am until the hour of service at 10am.
Mrs. Smith was born July 29, 1943 in Robertson County to the late John Freeman and Mary Ruth Boisseau Wilson. She worked at Acme Boot and Wilson Sporting Goods for many years and was a member of the Coopertown Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her brother, John Edward Wilson. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald “Fred” Smith; daughter, Lee Ann Smith of Springfield; and several loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith is also survived by many extended family members and friends and neighbors who will also miss her very much.

Obituary for Alexander Ferrer
Alexander Ferrer, age 42, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Eliu Maldonado officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 4-8pm and again on Friday from 11am until the hour of service at 2pm.
Mr. Ferrer was born September 6, 1976 in Puerto Rico to Mr. Hernan Pineda of Central America and the late Juana Trorres. He worked in construction.
In addition to his mother Mr. Ferrer is preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucinda Artiaga and grandfather, Pablo Ramon Torres.
In addition to his father Mr. Ferrer is survived by his wife, Carmen Pineda; sons, Daniel (Jacqueline Schutt) Arocho Jr., Tulia Pineda, Carlos H. Pineda and Jorbin J. Pineda, all of Springfield; daughters, Ivone (Deangelo) Scharkley and Jennilynn Vazquez, both of Springfield; brothers, Tulio Pineda and Jose Hernan Pineda, both of Central America; sisters, Sandra L. Torres of Springfield and Herna Pineda of Central America; and grandchildren, Aaliya, Celina, Dangela, Dangelo, Yazmia, Maysie, Keaton and Diamond.
