Obituary for Ann Baggett Moulton

The family request that everyone attending the visitation and the funeral services to please abide by social distancing guidelines and to please wear facial coverings

Ann Baggett Moulton passed away on Sunday October 11, 2020. She was the only child born to Reverend Roy C. and Annie Odil Moore on May 6, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Harry C. Baggett and Bobby Moulton, and by her stepson: Kevin Moulton.

Ann was the daughter of a Methodist minister. This instilled in her a great love for her Lord and His beloved church. Ann lived an active and productive life touching family and friends with her generous unselfish heart. She worked many years for Dr. Elder and enjoyed both sewing and dancing.

Ann delighted in being with family. She is survived by her daughters: Ava (Randy) Chance of Goodlettsville, Harriet (Ray) Aaron of Gallatin, and Beth (Lynn) Reeves of Cedar Hill, by her grandchildren: Bryan (Cayce) Chance, Brent (Jennifer) Chance, Holly (Mac) Hurley, Rachel (Justin) Fontenot, Russell (Brandi) Aaron, Kyle Reeves, and Kurt (Mackenzie) Reeves, by her 13 great grandchildren, by her caretaker and special friend: Paul Beckleheimer of Springfield, by her sister-in-law: Mildred Baggett of Cedar Hill, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday October 15th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Adult Sunday School class at Woodland Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member.. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM and Thursday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Obituary for Emily Gail Pitt Todd

Emily Gail Pitt Todd, 52, of Hermitage, passed from this life on Friday October 9, 2020 at Summit Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday October 14th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Heflin officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cross Plains. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Emily was born January 24, 1968 in Nashville to the late Vernon King and Emma Jean Pinson Pitt, Jr. She was a graduate of Hendersonville High School Class of 1986 and then went on to receive her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Austin Peay State University in 1990. Emily loved cats, reading, and her life evolved around her beloved husband, Tim Todd, who died in July of this year.

Suzanne Hancock Mathis, age 85, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at NHC Healthcare. No services are planned at this time.

Ms. Mathis was born October 1, 1935 in Springfield, Tennessee to the late Russell Howard and Stella Jane McMahan Hancock. She worked as a Sales Executive for the Jack Daniels Distillery and loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents Ms. Mathis is preceded in death by her brother, Russell Howard Hancock, Jr. and her sister, Joan Hancock Proctor.

Obituary for Bobby Lee Birdwell

Bobby Lee Birdwell, 82, of Greenbrier, passed away on Tuesday October 6, 2020.

His remains were cremated.

He was the seventh child and the fourth son born to Delwin and Lucille “Dixie” Prince Birdwell on March 26, 1938 in the Barren Plains community. He was educated in the Robertson County schools. Mr. Birdwell served in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army, serving time in England and Thailand. He was of the Baptist faith and was baptized in the creek at the third iron bridge. Mr. Birdwell was a mechanic and enjoyed restoring old cars. His special joy was a 1937 and 1939 Chevy and a 1939 Pontiac.

floral squareIn addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers: J.D., Jewel, Grant, Wayne, and Paul Birdwell. Mr. Birdwell is survived by a daughter: Debbie Green of Spring, TX, by his five sisters: Alma Owen of White House, Ruth Ricks of Greenbrier, Helen Baggett of Greenbrier, Marie Haley of Goodlettsville, and Lucille Bell of Ridgetop, and by his two brothers: David Birdwell of Greenbrier and Leonard Birdwell of Cleveland, TN, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Obituary for Robert Eugene “Robbie” Traughber

Robert Eugene “Robbie” Traughber, age 29 of Springfield, died Monday, October 5, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center.

Graveside services were conducted Friday, October 9, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Elmwood Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Mr. Traughber was born August 9, 1991 in Springfield to Jeffrey Dale Traughber Sr. and the late Rebecca Bowen West. He worked for A & G Tree Service and enjoyed his leisure time fishing.

He is survived by his father, Jeffrey Dale Traughber, Sr. of Adams; son, Jake Traughber of Sevierville; grandmother, Delores Traughber of Springfield; girlfriend, Kimberly Pennington of Bowling Green, KY; brother, Jeffrey Dale Traughber, Jr. of Ashland City; aunt, Lori floral squareNeedham of Springfield; and cousins, Kaitlyn Gregory and Tyler Jackson.

Age 64 of Greenbrier passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at her home. She was born November 27, 1955 in Heron, Illinois. She worked as a pharmacy tech for Baptist Hospital/Saint Thomas Midtown until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping and she was a member of Metro Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; step-brother. Louise Robertson Branch, age 98, of Springfield, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at NHC Healthcare.

A private Interment will be held in the Elmwood Cemetery. No visitation will be held prior to the private Interment.

Mrs. Branch was born June 5, 1922 in Greenbrier, TN to the late Hubert and Susan Frances Murrah Robertson. She worked at Cheatham Park School in the Cafeteria for 32 years and was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Branch was a member of the “Kitchen Band” and had volunteered over 41,500 hours at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital and NorthCrest Medical Center.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Branch is preceded in death by her husband, Lacy H. Branch, daughter, Helen Louise Tarpley, brothers, Herbert Robertson, Jr. and William Henry Robertson, and her floral squaregrandson, Steven Phillip Branch.

Mrs. Branch is survived by her son and his wife, Steven and Betty Branch of Springfield; sister, Ann Pyle of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Crystal Tidwell, Susan Brown and 5 great-grandchildren.

William Samuel Balthrop, age 77 of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, died Friday, October 9, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 11 o’ clock am on Monday, October 12th, with Bro. Billy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Heads Cemetery in Cedar Hill with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1PM until 5PM on Sunday, October 11th, and again on Monday from 9:00AM until the hour of service at 11:00AM.

Mr. Balthrop was born on February 27, 1943, in Chapmansboro, Tennessee to the late R.W. and Lottie M. Black Balthrop. He was retired after 30 years from A.O Smith. He loved working and being on the farm, but his greatest love was going to auctions to find a great deal. William was a member of Heads Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, floral squareCharles Balthrop; nephew, Jeff Balthrop; and niece, Fawn Watts Ellis.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Balthrop; sons, Greg Balthrop, Ron (Helen) Balthrop; sisters, Judy (Loel) Watts, Sue (Johnny) Palmore; and grandchildren, Caroline and Olivia Balthrop.

Age 78 of Cottontown went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Signature Health Care of Portland. She was born August 19, 1942 in Franklin, KY to Harold O. & Lolita Vera Bush Charlton. Mrs. Littrell put herself through Business School. After receiving her certificate, she worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. during John F. Kennedy’s presidency. She was proud of the fact that she had met the President. She was later employed as a doctor’s secretary at the Indiana State Hospital. She was a loving and supportive wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family. She had been attending Portland Church of the Nazarene.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, TJ Oakes; second husband, Duane Littrell; 2 sisters, Nancy Charlton and Sue Ann Ridge. Mr. Hancock was born June 25, 1943 in Springfield to the late James Henry and Georgia Christine Wilkerson Hancock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as an Air Force Air Traffic Controller for many years. He loved his family, Vanderbilt Sports, including football and basketball, and was a member of the South Haven Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents Mr. Hancock is preceded in death by his grandson, Dorrian Alexander Godfrey.

Mr. Hancock is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Wendell Hancock; son, Jerry (Angela) Hancock, Jr. of Murfreesboro; daughter, Tish (William) Hancock Godfrey of Clarksville; grandchildren, Annastazia Elizabeth Godfrey Ganas, Jade Lyn floral squareGodfrey and Alexzandria Leilani Godfrey; and great-grandchild, Tatianna Elizabeth Ganas.

Ernest “Ernie” Wenczl, age 91 of Pleasant View, Tennessee died Monday, October 5, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Wenczl was born on August 4, 1929 in Magyarovar, Hungary to the late Gustav and Elisabeth Wenczl. He was retired from State Industries where he worked for over 30 years as Vice President of Product Development & Research. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he loved to cook and had a passion for music.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Èva Wenczl; brother, Stephen Wenczl; and a nephew, Barnabas Nagy.

Obituary Matthew Paul Ward

Matthew Paul Ward, 11, of Springfield TN, walked home with Jesus, on October 1, 2020 at Vanderbilt’s Children’s Hospital.

A Celebration of Life is pending at Cornerstone Church Nashville.

Matthew was born December 11, 2008 in Jacksonville, FL. He was always full of joy, never-ending giggles, huge smiles, and twinkling eyes. His family meant everything to him, and they were always by his side. He delighted in country music, especially Tim McGraw. Every morning, upon waking at 5:30am, Alexa would play ”Feel Like a Rockstar”, to start his day. Every night before bed, he would sing along to his music, while mommy said, “Sing to me, Sing to mama”.

Matthew loved Sesame Street, Chicka, Nascar driver interviews, and long stroller walks around the family’s couch, for hours each day by daddy and mommy. He was the most precious of boys, we will so miss the “king of our castle”. Matthew is preceded in death by his Aunt Malisa Munn, of Flint, MI and Nana Jan and Papa Bobby Tyer, as well as great-grandparents.

Obituary for Robert Alan “Bobby” Hall Sr.

Robert Alan “Bobby” Hall Sr., age 68 of Springfield, passed away from pancreatic cancer after a good fight on Friday, October 2, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

He will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date

Bobby was born April 3, 1952. He graduated from Springfield High School in the class of 1971. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved sitting in the swing and driving his 56 Chevy. He looked forward to class reunions so he could catch up with old classmates.

He was born to the late Joe E. Hall and the late Leta McCoy Thornburg. He was also preceded in death by brother, Rodney “Butch” Hall; sister, Sandra Laughlin; aunt, Joyce Templeton; and his beloved grandmother that reared him, Ola McCoy.

Mr. Hall is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn “Gail” Hall of Springfield, son, Robert Alan “Rob” Hall, Jr. of Springfield; half-brother, Steven Mitchell; special cousins, Patti Farrell, Emery McCoy, Michael Gunter, and Lloyd “Dink” Grogan; brother-in-law, John Laughlin; and his friends of “The Friday Nite Gang”

Obituary for John Wayne Corder, Sr

On Sunday, October 4, 2020 John Wayne Corder, Sr. left his earthly home. He was born in Wilson County, TN on July 5, 1955 to the late John Wallace Corder and Lois Alberta Brooks Ewin.

John was educated in the Wilson County School system. He joined the armed forces, United States Army branch in 1978 to serve our country. During his service of 10 years, he received several ribbons, badges and an honorable discharge in 1988.

John married Mae E. Groves on August 4, 1990 and to this union one child was born, John Wayne Corder, Jr.

John accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in July 1991 and was baptized in the name of Jesus. He then received the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. His favorite scripture was Isaiah 1:19, If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.

John loved working in the gifts of helps. He drove the City of Faith church van for all events and the Master’s Table van for food pickups weekly. He was ready and willing to serve the City of Faith church family and his community.

John was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cassandra N. Corder Brown and his brother, Nathan Corder.

Keenan was an avid Green Bay Packers and University of Tennessee football fan. Age 75 of White House passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 in Knox County North Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born March 24, 1945 in Jasper, Alabama to Clyde and Annie Bridges. She worked as a waitress for the Countryside Cafe. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, hiking and sitting by the creek. She also enjoyed shopping at the Hope Center and was of the Baptist faith.

19, 2020, the 1st day of Spring, at his home on Two Mile Pike, Goodlettsville, TN.

Jimmy was born on Tuesday, August 26, 1947 to the late JC and Ruth Thomas Evans in Springfield, TN.

He is survived by his brother, John W. Evans of Fort Myers, Florida, cousins, church family and his many friends from Springfield and Brentwood, TN where he resided for many years. He will be fondly remembered by his co-workers at American Paper and Twine of Nashville, TN from where he retired.

floral squareJC was a graduate of Springfield High School class of 1966, served as Senior Class Secretary and was a member of Coach Boyce Smith’s football team for four years. He attended the University Of Tennessee and was a loyal Vols fan. Snag, as his classmates affectionately called him, was an active member of his Class Reunion Committee and worked diligently to ensure each reunion was a big success. His quick wit, contagious smile and sense of humor will be missed by all who love him.

Danny Anthony Blackburn, 65, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday September 30, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday October 3rd at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Ranel Woody, Phillip Brown, B.J. Drake, Jacob Traughber, Terry Blackburn, Jr., and Jerrid Traughber. Johnny Traughber served as honorary pallbearer. The family received friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Danny was born March 7, 1955 in Robertson County to the late Elouis Hassell and Mary Elizabeth Burns Blackburn. He worked as a foreman for Wylie Steel and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ. Danny loved drawing, painting, deep sea fishing, and working in his flowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Carolyn Jeannette Pewitt Blackburn, and by his siblings: Terry Wayne Blackburn, James Louis Blackburn, David Blackburn, Steven Blackburn, and Shirley Ann Kurbis.

Joseph Matthew “Joe” Green, 74 and Sherry Denise Raymer Green, 62, both of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday September 29, 2020 at their home.

Joint funeral services were conducted Wednesday October 7th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Greenbrier Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Joe was born August 15, 1946 in Springfield to the late Willie and Estelle Burnette Green. He was retired from the maintenance department of Electrolux and was a member of South Haven Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising rabbits. He was preceded in death by his son: Kevin Green, by his siblings: Sherry Binkley, Bobby, Linda, and Willie Green, Jr, and by his step-daughter: Stacey Maynard. His son, Scotty Green, passed away following his death. Joe is survived by his sons: Joshua Matthew (Kayla) Green of Portland and James Bryant Green of Greenbrier, by his sister: Lila (Michael) Sumner of Knoxville, by 7 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.

Jerry Carson Sanford, age 77 of Greenbrier, TN died Tuesday September 29, 2020 at his home.

Graveside services were held on Friday October 2, 2020 at 11 am in the Greenbrier Cemetery. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Jerry was born April 22,1943 in Robertson Co, TN to the late James and Ruby Dorris Sanford. His wife, Dorothy Sanford, his grandmother, Nona Sand and Aunt, Ella Mae Sanford also preceded him in death. Jerry was a retired plumber. He floral squareenjoyed woodworking, making clocks and going to flea markets, especially when his wife Dorothy was still alive. They were truly a team.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Carter of Springfield, TN; son, Jerry Wayne Sanford of Goodlettsville, TN and six grandchildren.

Joseph Glenn “Joe” Hallman, 78, of Adairville, KY, passed away on Monday September 28, 2020 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Graveside services were conducted Friday October 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville with Brother Don Billingsley and Joe Slate officiating. Pallbearers were Joedy Hallman, Joseph Hallman, Eric Taylor, Joe Slate, Jeremy Slate, and Joseph Violette. Honorary pallbearers were his brothers: Stan, Phil, and Carney Hallman. The family received friends at the graveside service on Friday.

Mr. Hallman was born November 19, 1941 in Adairville, KY to the late Russell and Lois Smith Hallman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam. Mr. Hallman was retired from the maintenance department at Precision Products, was a farmer, and a member of Millertown Church of Christ. He enjoyed bird and coon hunting, Kentucky basketball, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially Joseph and Emily, his grandchildren.

Everet “Leo” Smith, age 78 of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, died Friday, October 2, 2020 at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville.

Funeral services were held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View, Tennessee at 1 o’clock pm, Wednesday, October 7th with his family celebrating his life. There was a private family gathering for military honors. His wishes were to be cremated following the funeral service.

The family received friends at the funeral home in Pleasant View, Wednesday from 10AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.

Mr. Smith was born on May 19, 1942 in Rainelle, West Virginia to the late Ashley and Beatrice Elizabeth Smith. He was the owner-operator of Smith’s Auto Salvage. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He loved to go out an eat, would help anyone he could that was in need of anything, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Ashley “Buster” Smith; and a brother, Ashley Lynne Smith.

He proudly served his country in the US Air Force and was a member of Birdwell’s Chapel Church of Christ. Mr. Warren was an avid White House BDP Fan and attended all of the football games. He was a “salt of the earth” kind of guy who enjoyed gardening.

Age 84 of White House went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at his home. He was born March 1, 1936 in White House, TN to George J. & Dora Covington McMurtry. He worked in the upholstery business and was the owner of B&B Upholstery before his retirement. Billy Ray was a member of Mount Pleasant General Baptist Church but had attended Trinity Fellowship in the past few years. He had previously served as an Alderman for the city of White House.

He is preceded in death by parents; brother, Garry D. McMurtry; sisters, Pamela Curtis and Jean Ralph. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty J. McMurtry, White House, TN; son, Billy M. Obituary for Lorene Francen

Lorene Elizabeth Adkins Francen, age 82 of Ashland City, Tennessee died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Jubilee House on Warfield in Clarksville, Tennessee.

A graveside service was held at 11 o’ clock am on Saturday, October 3rd at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Corey Minter officiating. Burial followed with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

There was no visitation at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.

Mrs. Francen was born on February 21, 1938 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to the late Kellie and Evelyn Black Adkins. She served as a librarian for 15 years with Free Will Baptist Bible College and East Cheatham Elementary School. She graduated from the Bible College and then went on to receive her master’s degree at MTSU and USC. She was also a vital part of the Cumberland Youth Camp in Woodlawn where she assisted in the cleaning and cooking for the kids and also loved working in her flower beds. Mrs. Francen was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, J. W. Adkins; and a sister, Norma Harter.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Francen; son, Michael (Susan) Francen; grandchildren, Heidi (Shawn) Faulkner, Joshua Francen, Micah (Kyler) Gentry; and six great-grandchildren.

The family would like express a special “Thank You” to the Jubilee House on Warfield of Clarksville caregivers for the care and love that they have shown to our family.
