Obituary for William Junior Harrison

Age 87 of Greenbrier went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at NHC in Springfield. He was born November 15, 2022 in Stratton, Nebraska to Elmer E. & Cleo Tatum Harrison. Mr. Harrison proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a builder in the construction industry before his retirement. He was a faithful member of New life Fellowship in Cross Plains, TN. He enjoyed working on cars and telescopes. He was very kind- hearted and always there to lend a helping hand to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan Harrison; brothers, Donald Harrison and Warren Harrison. He is survived by his son, Shawn (Colleen) Harrison; daughter, Shanna Turrentine, both of Greenbrier, TN; brother, Wayne Harison, Benson, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Spadford, Joshua Turrentine, Julie Harrison, Zachary Harrison and Chelsea Battenburg; 2 great-grandchildren, Alaryn and Katie.

Inurnment will follow at a later date at Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery in Nashville, TN with military honors. Visitation with the family is scheduled for Sunday, November 20, 2022 4:30-5:30PM at the chapel.

Obituary for Esther Mae Gateley

Age 92 of Cottontown went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 13, 2022 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. She was born March 20, 1930 in Springfield, MO to James Thomas & Ada Alta Ready Emerson. She was retired from Osborne Hessey where she worked in customer service. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Gateley enjoyed fishing, camping, attending church and listening to country and gospel music. She had taught countless people to swim in her lifetime and had served as a girl scout leader, as well as a cub scout den leader.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James “Jimmy” Gateley; brother, David Emerson; sister, Ruth Skidmore; great-floral squaregrandchild, Elan McCaslind. She is survived by her son, Robert Gateley, Cottontown, TN; daughter, Teresa (David) Corlew, Gallatin, TN; brother-in-law, Harold Skidmore, Ft. Worth, TX; sister-in-law, Pat Emerson, Omaha, NE; 5 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is being planned at a later date. Inurnment will be in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Springfield, MO.

Obituary for Elizabeth Lee Robertson

Elizabeth Lee Robertson, age 94, of Gallatin, formerly of Goodlettsville, passed away the evening of November 12, 2022.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Wednesday, November 16, 2022 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier. A private family graveside service will follow with Eric Robertson, Toby Robertson, Tate Robertson, Reef Myers, Coen Myers and Haven Myers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bair Myers, Danny Myers, Christopher Jenkins and Troy Robertson.

Elizabeth was born January 15, 1928 in Nashville, TN to the late Barney Stockman and Bonnie Della Kelley Trevathan. Elizabeth was a humble, kind, and caring person. She worked hard, was loving and loyal to her husband Paul, and compassionate to all who were lucky enough to cross her path. Besides her family, her life’s work was as a gifted teacher, achieving the title of assistant professor. Her last position was at Tennessee State University, where she taught until her retirement. Church was an important part of Elizabeth’s life and she cherished the church friendships she made over the years. Elizabeth and Paul were first members of Grace Baptist Church, and for the last 40 plus years they were members of Springhill Baptist Church. Elizabeth will be missed by everyone she leaves behind.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, David Paul Robertson, Sr: sons, David Paul Robertson, Jr (Angie), Trevis Lee Robertson (Dolores); daughter Bonnie Beth Jenkins; grandchildren, Troy Lee Robertson, Shannon Elizabeth Robertson Myers (Danny), Eric Randall Robertson, Ashley Christine Robertson, Christopher floral squareMichael Jenkins, and Rachael Elizabeth Jenkins; 6 great-grandsons, Toby, Reef, Tate, Coen, Haven, and Bair; and a great-great-grandson, Jameson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude, in Elizabeth’s memory. This was her favorite charity, and another way her all encompassing love can still be part of people’s lives, especially young children in need.

Obituary for Kayla Arana

Kayla Elyse Arana, 32, joined the Lord on November 11th, 2022. She was born on January 31st, 1990 in Nashville, Tennessee. She attended and graduated from Sycamore High School in Pleasant View, Tennessee.

She devoted her life to others with a deep connection with her family. Kayla loved an adventure; she was bold and filled with courage and had plans of traveling throughout all of the United States in her custom RV, to not only explore but to share her art and support all those in need of a helping hand and open heart. She is truly a very unique soul. She adored being an aunt and is loved and sorely missed by all that had the privilege to know her.

She is preceded by Grandparents; James Cook, Anita Jenkins., Uncle: Frank Arana and Aunt: Melissa Cook.

She is survived by Mother, Hettie Garrett (Scott), Father, Rosendo Arana Jr. (Leticia), siblings; Sydney Morris, Rosendo M. Gregory “Greg” Jon Harmon, age 61, of Ashland City, Tennessee, died Thursday, November 10, 2022.

Greg was born on February 10, 1961 in Bemidji, Minnesota, to Donna Prouty Harmon and the late Lester Harmon.

In addition to his father, Lester, he is preceded in death by his nephew, Joe Harmon, his niece Hannah Cassady, and his dog Rudy.

He is survived by his mother, Donna, his wife of 32 years, Tammy; sons, Zach Harmon (Karissa Torborg), Dustin Wyberg, and his dog Lincoln; sisters, Lori Lemon, JoAnne Cassady, and Kathy Tillemans (Steve); mother-in-law, Beatrice Friend; sisters-in-law, Wendy Johannessohn (Thad), Jami Fedorowski (Rick), Lori Page; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.

Greg enjoyed being a rescue scuba diver, golfing, playing games, helping others, tending to his immaculate lawn, and spending time with his family and dogs. Greg was known for his sense of humor. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him!

Obituary for James Henderson Tucker

James Henderson Tucker, 82, of Greenbrier, passed away on Thursday November 10, 2022, at AHC Vanco Manor in Goodlettsville.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday November 14th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Tucker was born June 9, 1940, to the late Murrys Thomas and Jessie O’Neal Tucker. He worked as a carpenter and painter for many years. Mr. Tucker loved fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Ila Bell Roach Tucker, by his daughter: Melissa Tucker, by his brother: Hillis Tucker, by his sisters: Felicia Clubbs and Carol Faye Tucker, and by several stepchildren.

Margaret Ellen “Peggy” Overstreet, 79, of Cedar Hill, passed from this life on Thursday November 10, 2022, at Signature Healthcare Center in Clarksville.

Her remains will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.

Peggy was born May 8, 1943, in Chicago, IL to the late Frank and Jane Hammond. She was a retired dispatcher with Mid Cumberland and was of the Catholic faith. Peggy enjoyed bowling, picture painting, and playing the organ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Lee Roy Overstreet, and by her brother: Craig Hammond.

Betty Ruth Brown Ogg, age 77, of Dover and formerly of Robertson County, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Houston County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Tyler Estep officiating. Burial will follow in the Bellwood Cemetery with Tyler Ogg, Ben Ogg, Troy Ogg, Cody Ogg, Spencer Penticuff, Travis Clemens, Sabin Durham and Landon Wall-Bohanon serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 4-8pm and again on Monday from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm.

Mrs. Ogg was born January 23, 1945 in Robertson County to the late Edward Eliga and Ruth Cook Brown. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide and was a member of the Cross Plains Church of Christ.

Obituary for Dale Eugene Hall

Dale Eugene Hall, age 89 of Cross Plains passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. He was born February 11, 1933 in Paris, Illinois to Luther Martin & Mabel Estella Sublett Hall. He was a hard worker and began working on his family and neighbor’s farms at an early age. He later worked for Hulcher Train Derailment Services and owned the 76 Filling Station and Garage in Virden, Illinois. In 1972, he became a heavy equipment operator for the Kentucky pipeline and then retired as a semi-truck driver, working for both Yellow Freight and Ryder/Pie Trucking Company. He was part of the Teamster’s Union for almost fifty years. As a loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was unceasingly fair and generous. He played an active role in his children and his grandchildren’s lives, providing them life skills ranging from teaching them to drive at a young age to essential farming skills, just as he was raised. There were few subjects Dale couldn’t speak about or had considerable knowledge on. Many referred to him as a walking encyclopedia. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and farmer. He had vast mechanical skills and could repair anything from various types of vehicles to rebuilding portions of his home, a nearly 100 year old log cabin.

Age 81 of White House went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at NHC in Springfield. He was born February 6, 1941 in White House, TN to Joe D. & Earline Hornberger Chowning. He worked in construction for Summit Construction until his retirement. He was of the Methodist faith. He loved spending time outdoors, farming, gardening and watching his purple martin houses. He enjoyed antique tractors, listening to bluegrass music and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Margaret Chowning, who preceded him only 127 days ago; sister, Joann Cook. He is survived by his sons, Tim (Pam) Chowning and Terry (Melonie) Chowning, both of White House, TN; 4 grandchildren, Spencer (Abigayle) Chowning, Clayton Chowning, Mason Chowning and Makayla Chowning.

Mr. Meggs was born September 6, 1923 in Greenville, MS to the late Ludie Lee and Pearl Alford Meggs. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a United Methodist Minister.

Obituary for Steve Kellar Cope

Steve Kellar Cope, Age 62 of White House passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born June 10, 1960 in Dothan, AL to Reese & Mary Ethridge Cope. He graduated from White House High School , in the Class of 1979 and was considered the glue that held that class together since high school. Post high school, basketball teammates formed “the Blues Brothers” doing benefit performances. He loved to make people laugh as a practical joker always finding a way to prank someone. He had several nicknames, including Hindu and Tigger. Despite the HSP disease that kept him physically limited, he taught people by example to smile everyday and have a positive outlook on life. . He worked for Overnite Transportation before his retirement. He loved watching football, especially his favorite team The Tennessee Titans. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and was an avid civil war collector. Steve was a loving father that enjoyed family trips to the beach. He loved his dogs, and in his later years, Lilly, his dachshund became his constant companion.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lydia Cato and his beloved dachshund Lilly. He is survived by his daughter, Katelyn Cope, Mount Juliet, TN; brother, James Cope, Alabama; sister, Mary (Aaron) Stacy, Virginia.

Obituary for Racheal Valli Roath

Racheal Valli Roath, 39, of Nashville passed from this life on Sunday November 6, 2022 at her home.

Racheal was born June 15, 1983 in Nashville to the late Sunday Amatucci. She is survived by her father, Andy (Denise) Roath, daughter Demi, son Andrew, and brothers David Lee Roath. Josh Roath, and Clint Johnson.

Racheal grew up in Springfield and later moved to Florida where she was an accomplished floral squarehairdresser. After declining health she moved back to Nashville. She leaves many friends and family who love her dearly.

Her body was entrusted to the Cremation Society of Tennessee with a private Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

Obituary for Doris Marie “Dottie” Guill

Doris Marie “Dottie” Guill, 74, of Old Hickory, passed from this life on Wednesday November 2, 2022, at her home.

Graveside services were conducted Monday November 7th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland Cemetery with Brother Jake Townsend officiating. Pallbearers will be Ken Reasoner, Kenny Reasoner, Trevor Reasoner, Brian Crofton, Colin Crofton, Grant Irwin, Robin Haneline, Donnie Haneline, and Jeff Hale. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Dottie was born August 15, 1948, in Detroit, MI, to the late Charles Bryan Lassiter and Lillian Doris Epps Lassiter. She was a graduate of White House High School Class of 1965 and was a retired production worker for Remay. Dottie loved boating and talking to her friends and family. The highlight of her life was her dog, Smiley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Charles Lassiter, and sister-in-law: Tracy Haneline.

Obituary for Jerry Wayne Chowning

Jerry Wayne Chowning, 81, of Cedar Hill, passed from this life on Tuesday November 1, 2022, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday November 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the Greenbrier Cemetery with Reverend Steve Pendley officiating. Pallbearers were Matthew Chowning, Dustin Chowning, Brandon Chowning, Todd Bush, Kevin Chowning, and Gavin Wolf. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service. For those desiring to go in procession with the family to the cemetery, please gather at Robertson County Funeral Home, as the procession will leave approximately at 10:30 a.m.

Mr. Chowning was born July 5, 1941, in Cross Plains, to the late Cleo and Velma Powell Chowning. He was a retired diesel mechanic, a member of the Teamster’s Union, and a member of Center Point Baptist Church. Mr. Chowning enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, and both flower and vegetable gardening. He learned to can tomato’s and enjoyed telling everyone that “he canned them”. His family loved them, especially the grandchildren as that called them “Granddaddy’s Canned Tomato’s”. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the highlight of his life and each of them always knew they could go to Granddaddy for their individual packs of M&M’s.

Obituary for James Nathan Duke Sr.

James Nathan Duke Sr., age 78, of Castalian Springs, TN passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at his home.

Funeral services were conducted at 1pm Thursday, November 10, 2022 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Randy Riggs officiating. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 11am until time of service at 1pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Duke was born February 24, 1944 in Springfield to the late Cordell and Barbara Evelyn Sircy Duke Sr. He worked as an assembly worker at Peterbilt Motors and was of the Baptist faith.

Obituary for Barbara Jones

Barbara Dean Jones, age 74 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at Houston County Community Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 1:00PM on Wednesday, November 9th, with Pastor Brad Schoeneck officiating. Burial followed at EverRest of Cheatham with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 9th from 11:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.

Mrs. Jones was born on January 9, 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Lewis & Fannie Anderson. She was a homemaker most of her life taking care of her family. She was a phenomenal cook and attended Family Hope Church.

floral squareIn addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Shane Jones; brother, Murray Anderson: and sister, Joyce Anderson.

Survivors include her son, Todd Jones; sister, Gayle (Tony) Russell; and grandchildren, Lyndsey Jones, Emma Jones, and Colby.

Obituary for Theada Belle Gammons

Age 85 of White House passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at The Hearth in Hendersonville. She was born February 15, 1937 in Portland, TN to Sewell & Hester Ausbrooks Scott. She worked as a homemaker most of her life. Her life’s joy was caring for her family. She was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Hendersonville.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Gammons;3 sisters, Josephine Hesson, Brenda Gregory and Ramona Stewart; 2 brothers, Prentice Scott and Clifford Scott. She is survived by her loving son, Rick (Donna) Gammons, White House, TN; special neighbors that she loved like her own grandchildren, Madison & Morgan Bloodworth, White House, TN.

Interment followed in White House Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Sunday, November 6, 2022 4-8PM and Monday, November 7, 2022 9am until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Obituary for Willie Ray Ayers

Willie “Ray” Ayers, age 69, of Cedar Hill, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted at 1pm Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Robert Filson officiating. Military graveside services followed in the Bellwood Cemetery in Adams.

The family received friends from 11am until time of the service at 1pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ray was born November 24, 1952 in Springfield to Donald Levene and Hattie Elizabeth Heatherly Ayers. Mr. Ayers was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He had been floral squarea heavy equipment mechanic for many years.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Donald Levene Ayers; brother, Samuel Ayers; and a sister, Donna Ayers.

He is survived by his son, Jonathan (Soojung) Ayers; mother, Elizabeth Ayers Anderson; and brothers, Tracy (Cindy) Ayers, Mark Ayers and Travis (Joetta) Ayers.

Obituary for Norman Darrell Diseker

Age 85 of White House went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He was born May 12, 1937 in Alva, KY to Norman Shores & Delphy Jane Hill Diseker. He worked as a registered nurse for the Tri-Star Health System until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the U.S> Air Force. He loved His Lord with all his heart and talked to everyone he met about Jesus, making sure they had received Jesus into their heart. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also dearly loved his church family at White House First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sarah Dodds Diseker. He is survived by his sons, Paul Andrew(Teresa) Diseker, Benbrook, TX and Gary Michael (Brandy) Diseker, White House, TN; daughter, Laura Morris, Old Hickory, TN; brother, Andrew Diseker, VA; sister, Anne (Bob) Smith, Manchester, TN; 5 grandchildren, Spenser, Dach, Danyssa, Joey and Claire; 6 great-grandchildren, Aviannah, Raya, Aniyah, Ryker, Iris and Lylah.

floral squareA Memorial service is scheduled for November 18, 2022 at 5pm at White House First Baptist Church with Pastor Ashley Mofield officiating and with military honors. A private family inurnment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Visitation with the family is planned for November 18, 2022 4-5pm at White House First Baptist Church prior to the service.

Obituary for Joyce Fay Ostermiller

Joyce McCoy Ostermiller was born June 8, 1949 in Soda Springs, Idaho to Raymond J. McCoy and Leslie Skinner McCoy. She was the youngest of 3. She was preceded in death by her Father Raymond McCoy, her Mother Leslie Skinner McCoy Benson, her sister Laura Benson, and her son Nathan Brent Ostermiller.

She is survived by her husband Brent Ostermiller White House, TN, daughters Jennifer Ostermiller of Tokyo, Japan, Julie (Robbie) Coots of Bowling Green, KY, son Justin (Aimee) Ostermiller of Ocala, FL and a sister Becky Kelly of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her 7 grandchildren who have been the light of her life are Cameron Ostermiller, Carter (Marissa) Cots, Brayden Coots, Cody Ostermiller, Molly Cots, Abby Coots and Cooper Ostermiller. Joyce grew up in Conda, Idaho where she attended her first two years of school in a one-room-school. She then attended school in Soda Springs where she graduated in 1967. She attended LDS Business College (now Ensign College) in Salt Lake City, Utah and received a degree in Secretarial Science. On June 28, 1968 she and, Brent J. Ostermiller were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have lived in St. Anthony, Idaho, Provo, Utah, Pocatello, Idaho, Ocala, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee and White House, Tennessee. Joyce’s joy and mission in life has been children. Raising and loving her 3 children, loving and spoiling her 7 grandchildren, and for 50 years teaching children about Jesus Christ and His mission on earth to literally hundreds of children in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Primary, which is the program for children 18 months to 12 years. She has always had a magical way to connect with children.

Visitation with the family was Monday, November 7, 2022 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Obituary for Edward Ray Plunkett

Edward Ray Plunkett, age 73, of Springfield, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022 at NHC in Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 1pm Friday, November 4, 2022 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Bob Carroll officiating. Burial followed in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with John White, Earl Fuqua, Charles Wayne Atchley Sr., John Tanner, Dennis Pulley and Billy Gross Jr. serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Stewart, Eric Pulley, Dillion Hardaway, Paul White, Jeremy Gainous, Ivan Gainous, Dalton Gainous and Charles Wayne Atchley Jr.

The family received friends from 4-8pm Thursday and again from 11am until time of service at 1pm Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Plunkett was born November 25, 1948 in Adams, TN to the late John E. and Goldie Mae Garner Plunkett. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, worked in the factory for Peterbilt for many years, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Plunkett was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Plunkett, Calvin Plunkett, Curtis Plunkett and John Plunkett Jr.; sisters, Marie Shisenhall, Jean D’Orio, Loubell Phelps, Vickie Wrenn and Geneva Tanner.

floral squareHe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Lee White Plunkett; son, Mike (Shannon) Plunkett; daughter, Robin (Jim) Duke; grandchildren, Bryanna (Chad) Tate, Brittany (Allen) Strickland, Jilliann Plunkett and Jenna Beth Plunkett; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Tate and Drake Strickland; sisters, Genett Wix (Harold) Harper and Dorothy Ann Plunkett.
