Obituary for Duane Head
Duane Jay Head, age 56, of Cedar Hill, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022 at HATS Group Home in Springfield. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 2pm in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brother David Bradley officiating. Burial will follow with Scott Elder, Cody Elder, Carson Elder, Roy Osborne, Barry Barnett and Dalton Barnett serving as pallbearers. No visitation will be held prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Head was born July 4, 1966 in Nashville to the late Max and Marilyn Gower Head. He loved country music, gospel hymns, U.T. football and basketball, the TN Titans, and going to HATS. Mr. Head was also a member of the New Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. Head is preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Head, brother, Kevin Head, grandparents, Mary Lou and J.L. Head, Nettie and Gailor Gower, and his step-brother, Mickey Elder.
Mr. Head is survived by his step-mother, Glenda Head; step-brother, Scott Elder; aunts and uncle, Suzanne and Roy Osborne, and Jan Stroud; and many nieces nephews, and cousins.

Obituary for Bob Hoge, III
Lawrence “Bob” Hoge, III, age 70, of Springfield, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022 at Centennial Medical Center. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 4pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Tony Cobb officiating.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home that Saturday from 3pm until the hour of service at 4pm.
Mr. Hoge was born February 6, 1952 in Springfield to the late Lawrence R. and Katherine Summerville Hoge, II. He worked as a Planner for Robertson County and was a Christian. He was kind and fun-loving, hard working and generous.
Mr. Hoge is survived by his wife, Diane Pugh Hoge; nieces and nephews, Ivan Gregory, Kyle Gregory, Jennifer Dusky, and Rachel Hoge; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Crystal Lee; his sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Bruce Gregory; and a number of Jack Russell terriers he loved dearly.

Obituary for Oliver Neil Williams
Age 82 of Springfield, TN passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at his home. He was born June 25, 1940 in Hartsville, TN to Clarence Ernest & Ivorene Cleveland West Williams. He worked as a computer technician for Unisys until his retirement. Neil proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines and was a member of McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #700. He enjoyed attending antique car shows and driving antique cars in parades. He enjoyed camping and traveling, having driven both to Alaska and to Mexico. Neil was known all around for raising emus for 16 years following his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lois Williams, Springfield, TN; daughters, Debbie (Veit) Spero, Bethpage, TN and Cindy (Tony) McDonald, Springfield, TN; sister, Gale (Jimmy) Bamman, Cross Plains, TN; 5 grandchildren, Frankie (Lauren) Spero, Matt (Ivy) McDonald, Ellen (Alexis) Baez, Carrie (Nate) Usher and Casey (Wayne) Summers; 10 great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Sutherland, Whit, Abner, Hoke, Johnny, Morgan, Jackson, Sully and Hattie.
Funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11am in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Derek Capello officiating. Interment will follow at 2pm in Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is planned for Wednesday, September 7, 2022 4-7pm and Thursday, September 8, 2022 10-11am at the funeral home. Obituary for Mayron Huddleston
Mayron Frances Crutcher Huddleston passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2022. She was 92 years old. Mayron, a daughter of William Sanders Crutcher and Lemma Hinkle Crutcher, was one of 10 children born on the pre-Civil War family farm at Coopertown, Tennessee. She cherished the farm all her life.
Mayron lived a full life. She attended George Peabody College in Nashville. She and her husband, Elwyn Huddleston, met at college and married in 1950. They had two children, Carrie Huddleston Nobles, and Robert Claiborne Huddleston, II, who died in infancy. She and Elwyn were great travelers, visiting four continents and spending five years in Peru working for an American mining company.
Mayron was an accomplished artist. The family home is filled with her paintings in oil, acrylics, watercolor and charcoal. She also sewed and crocheted beautifully. A lifelong community volunteer, Mayron was active for decades in the Garden Club of America, where she was a senior certified National Judge. Mayron almost always brought home the blue ribbon from the Garden Club’s flower shows. For many years she also served on the Board of the Friends of the Brentwood Library.
Mayron is survived by her husband and her daughter, her sister-in-law, Ann Collins Crutcher, her brother, Richard Crutcher and his wife, Shannon, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mayron’s Memorial Service will be conducted by Dr. Robert Tyson at Battle Creek Baptist Church at 11am on Friday, September 16th.

James Arthur Dodge, age 81, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Red Cedar Glen in Hendersonville.
In accordance with his wishes Mr. Dodge’s remains will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Mr. Dodge was born September 9, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Mr. Llewellyn Dodge and Mrs. Margaret Lynch Dodge. He was the owner and operator of a catering business and café.
In addition to his father, Mr. Dodge is preceded in death by his wife Gail Ann Vitters Dodge.

Homer Felts, Jr., age 85, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 1pm at the Cross Roads Baptist Church with Brother Rick Edwards, Brother David Evans and Brother Jon Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Allen Thomas, Adam Pike, Gayland Hester, B.J. Felts, Christian Thomas and Dallas Wilson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Stokes, Jerry McCreary, Jerry Boyte, Don Dungan and Howard Bradley.
Visitation will be held at Cross Roads Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 4-8pm and again on Wednesday at the church from 10am until the hour of service at 1pm.
Mr. Felts was born February 5, 1937 in Cedar Hill to the late Homer and Nellie Pursley Felts, Sr. He was well-known in Springfield and held many jobs in his lifetime, including Genesco, Wilson Sporting Goods, One Hour Martinizing, Jewel T Company, Life & Casualty Insurance Company, Summers Motor Company and American General Insurance Company. Mr. Felts held other positions in the community such as the Music Director at North Springfield Baptist Church and the Music Director at Cross Roads Baptist Church for 22 years where he was a member. He was a member of the gospel quartet, The Mellowtones, since he was 14 years old. When they began, the group was too young to drive so they would need to hitch-hike to sing at engagements.
In addition to his parents Mr. Felts is preceded in death by his wife, Mary McIntosh Felts, whom he married on July 13, 1956; his brothers, Harold Felts and Ronnie Felts; and his sisters, Ruby Larmon, Margie Sawyers and Frances Moon.
Mr. Felts is survived by his children, Teresa Parrish, Rhonda and Gayland Hester, and Barry and Robin Felts; grandchildren, Adam Pike, Elizabeth (Christian) Pike Thomas, Jessica Wilson, B.J. Felts, and Kristina (Justin) Felts Hendrick; great-grandchildren, Josten Clayborn, Emma Clayborn, Dallas Wilson, Lily Thomas, Charlie Thomas, Melissa Kay Thomas and Mason Hendrick; and great-great-grandchild, Ian-James Chapman.

Mr. Biggerstaff was born on October 15, 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee, to Wilma Jean Shores Fleming and the late George Wilbur Biggerstaff. He was a carpenter by trade.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 2, 2022 at 1pm at the Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Freeman and Dr. Jason Wilkerson officiating. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Joshua Holt, Jesse Holt, Jacob Holt, Steven Head, Corey Head, Jason Head, Jacob Head, and Lake Head serving as pallbearers. Mr. Head was born August 8, 1947 in Springfield to the late Ralph and Francis Clinard Head. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea, was a tobacco farmer, member of Grace Baptist Church, and retired from the Springfield Water Wastewater Department.
Mr. Head is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Sara Minnis Head; sons and daughters-in-law, Rusty and Kathy Holt of Adams and Timothy and Emily Head of Springfield; daughter, Cynthia “Princess” Estep of Dover; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Sandy Head of Greenbrier, Jerry and Donna Head of Springfield and Ernie and Faye Head of Cedar Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Josie and Will Hicks of Springfield; grandchildren, Joshua Holt, Jesse Holt, Jacob Holt, Blane Minnis, Steven Head, and Jordan Head; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Holt and Harper Holt.

Paul David Wolfert, age 72, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00am Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the Coopertown Church of Christ with Bro. Bob Wolfert, Bro. Jeff Smith, Bro. Adam Callis and Bro. Travis Pigg officiating. Burial followed in the Coopertown Church of Christ Cemetery with Jared Head, Joshua Head, Joseph Hunter, Justin Hunter, Casey Gillespie and Randy Head serving as pallbearers. Paul was born February 20, 1950 in Pittsburg, PA to the late Ralph and Katie Cantrell Wolfert, but moved to Indiana during his early childhood. He made his way to Nashville where he enrolled in David Lipscomb College. Mr. Wolfert was employed as a Security Guard at David Lipscomb for 10 years and then took a job as a Security Officer with Vanderbilt University Police. He loved meeting people and helping them find their way around the Medical Center campus. Medical reasons caused him to take an early retirement after 10 years of service at Vanderbilt.
Paul met the love of his life, Linda, while at David Lipscomb College. They have lived in both Nashville and Springfield during their 40 year marriage. He enjoyed reading books of all kinds and was an avid sports fan, especially Vanderbilt baseball. He can be remembered as always having a smile, even on the difficult days he experienced throughout many illnesses. Paul was a member of the Coopertown Church of Christ.
Mr. Wolfert is survived by his loving wife, Linda Wolfert; brothers, Bob (Sue) Wolfert and Bill Wolfert; niece, Jamie Bomnskie; and nephews, Travis Pigg, Matthew Wolfert, Joseph Hunter, Justin Hunter, Jared Head, Joshua Head, Kyle Henley and Casey Gillespie.

Obituary for Tina Brooksher Douglas
Tina Brooksher Douglas went peacefully home to meet the Lord on Saturday August 27, 2022, in Augusta, GA, at the age of 55 surrounded by her family. Born November 25, 1966, she spent her early life in Adams, TN and graduated from Jo Byrns High School and then attended Austin Peay State University where she was a cheerleader and member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and a Pi Kappa Alpha little sister. Tina was a selfless supporter of the military and touched the lives of hundreds of Soldiers as she spent more than 29 years supporting her high school sweetheart and husband as they toured the world as a military family. Settling in Augusta, she continued to make meals, and anything required to bring a little touch of home to her neighbors, friends, and Soldiers around the Fort Gordon area. She kept young by caring for her granddaughter, Abby and fur babies.
Tina is survived by her husband, COL(R) Troy Douglas; Mother, Shelby Brooksher; Sister, Tammy Head; and her two children, Megan and Aaron; along with 4 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Tony Brooksher.

David Earl Brummett, 69, of Springfield, passed from this life on Saturday August 27, 2022, at his home.

Interment followed in the Harper Hills Cemetery in Springfield with Lee Johnson, Lynn Elwood, Phil Baer, Curtis Petty, Karl Hix, and Brian York serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Providence Baptist Church.
Mr. Brummett was born September 24, 1952, in Portland, TN. He was a retired driver with Waste Management and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Mr. Brummett was preceded in death by his father: Iro Brummett, by his grandson: Joshua Lynch, by his brother-in-law: Charles Cook, by his nephew: Bruce Brassel, and by his half-sister: Iris Presley.

Rosie Lee Holt, age 92 of Springfield, passed from this life on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.
Memorial services were conducted Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Dr. Frank Gagliano officiating. The family received friends from 10 AM until the hour of service. Burial of remains will be held at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Holt was born June 17, 1930 in Springfield to the late Luther and Bessie May Eidson Dorris. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball, watching birds, and working with her flowers. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles with her late husband. The most important thing to her was her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Holt, Sr. and her daughter, Tonya Holt.
Mrs. Rosie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Cheryl Holt, Jr. and Randy and Lucy Holt, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Angela Holt, Andrea Young, Lesley Haun, Amy Holt, Jessica Holt, Stephanie Gamble, and Josh Smith; 9 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mark Steven Evans, 60, of Cross Plains, passed away on Thursday August 25, 2022, at his home.

Mark was born November 30, 1961, in Russellville, KY. He was a graduate of Springfield High School and went on to receive his master’s degree. Mark was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a computer technologist, an honorary member of the National Corvette Club, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a car enthusiast that loved antique cars, corvettes, boats, planes, and trains. If it had a motor, he loved it. Mark loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father: Buford Evans.
Mark is survived by his wife of 36 years: Sheila Hunter Evans of Cross Plains, by his daughters: Heather Evans of Clarksville, Sarah (Josh Page) Evans of Cross Plains, by his mother: Maggie Capps Evans of Cross Plains, by his brother: Chuck Evans of Lebanon, and by his grandchildren: Hannah Evans, Adrian Evans, Skylar Evans, Serenity Page, Penelope Deese, Gracelynn Evans, and Molly Spivey.

Obituary for Teresa Yvonne Leavell
Teresa Yvonne Leavell, 56, of Springfield, passed from this life on Thursday August 25, 2022, at her home.
There was a time of visitation with the family held on Monday August 29th from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.
Teresa was born May 30, 1966, in Springfield. She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1984, worked as a teacher’s aid at Bransford Elementary, and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Springfield. Teresa loved traveling, especially cruises, watching westerns and TV, especially Gunsmoke and Matlock. She always loved working in the ministry field and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father: L.C. McClain and by her siblings: Jeffrey McClain, James Chase, and Linda Northington.

Obituary for Lindsey Everett Dyer
Lindsey Everett Dyer, 90, of Ridgetop, Tennessee, died Thursday August 25, 2022, at Morningside of Springfield in Springfield, Tennessee.
Mr. Dyer was a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief and was a veteran of Vietnam. He also retired from the VA hospital in Nashville.
Born in the Bugtussle community of Monroe County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Charles Edward and Oma Maines Dyer. He was also preceded in death by sister Katherine Dyer Mullinix; brothers Charles, Ventrice, Edsel and Kenneth; niece Patty Mullinix Dunn; and nephew Noel (Buck) Mullinix. He was also the nephew of Ezra Maines and a cousin of Ray and Jessie D. Miller and Alma Ruth Butler, all now deceased.
Survivors include nieces Susan Dyer Brown of Kentucky, Cheryl Dyer Case (Mike) of Colorado, Lisa Dyer Fry (Rick) of Shelbyville, Tennessee; nephew Charles Dyer (Linda) of Kentucky, Greg Hodges of Greenbrier, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Ruth Dyer Arney of Cookeville, Tennessee, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. on August 29, 2022, at the Robertson County Funeral Home in Springfield, Tennessee, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial, with military honors, was at Corinth Gardens on Galen Rd. (Hwy 261) in Macon County, Tennessee at 3:00 p.m. on Monday August 29th.

Robert Francis “Bob” D’Entremont, 67, of Springfield, passed away on Monday August 22, 2022, at TriStar Hendersonville Hospital.
A time of visitation was held with the family on Friday August 26th at the Robertson County Funeral Home.
Bob was born October 4, 1954, in Boston, MA to the late Wilfred and Regina Benkert D’Entremont. He was a retired Batchman from California Paint (ICP) and was of the Catholic faith. Bob enjoyed playing Cribbage, singing karaoke with his wife and friends, and spending time with all of his family and friends. Being with his grandchildren was always special to Bob, especially when they were swimming.

Age 35 of Greenbrier passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 in Nashville, TN. He was born September 4, 1986 in Nashville, TN to John Harold & Pamala Clarice Chappell Sinks. He worked as a landscaper and as a musician. Austin attended and played football for White House High School. He graduated from Hendersonville High School and was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing, listening to Rock music and watching football, especially the University of TN Volunteers. He was very talented and tried out for American Idol. Everyone that knew him knew that he had a big heart.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Harold Sinks. He is survived by his mother, Pamala Chappell, Greenbrier, TN; brother, Dustin (Kristi) Shaw, Springfield, TN; sister, Savannah Sinks, Greenbrier, TN; several uncles. aunts and cousins.

Evelyn Anne Smith, age 39, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away suddenly on June 28, 2022, in Grass Lake, Michigan, following a longstanding battle with severe mental illness.
Evelyn was born on January 22,1983, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She graduated with honors from Huron High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan and a Master of Social Work degree from Washington University of St. Louis, MIssouri. She worked with at-risk youth as a social worker.
Evelyn was also a musician, and was an accomplished singer, pianist, and cellist. She studied at the Berkelee College of Music in Boston in a singer/songwriter program and also in music production. She was an accomplished yoga practitioner and certified yoga teacher, as well as a loom weaver. She was a lifelong Episcopalian. Her kind and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Evelyn is survived by her mother, Virginia Sory Brown of Ann Arbor; father, Mark Brampton Smith (Catherine) of Stoughton, Wisconsin, and brother, Simon Peter Brampton Smith of Bellevue, Washington.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Jordan Stokes and Anne Sory Brown of Springfield, and Robert Wesley and Charmian Ettinger Smith of Arlington, Virginia.
Evelyn enjoyed many visits with her grandparents in Springfield.
A memorial service was held on August 15, 2022 at the First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
A brief service of committal will be held on Thursday, September 1 at 11 am, in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home on Walnut St. in Springfield, preceded by a time of visitation with the family at 10 am, and followed by inurnment of ashes at Elmwood Cemetery and a lunch at the funeral home.

Tiffany was born March 8, 1982 in Nashville, TN to Hubert and Vicky Lynn Wilson Sims. She was a member of New Life General Baptist Church.
Ms. Sims was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Wilkerson; father, Hubert Sims; sister, Ashley Nicole Taylor; and maternal grandparents, Clemons and Ida Wilson.

Rob was born on December 31, 1985 in Nashville, Tennessee to Sherrie Highsmith Johnson and the late Eddie Joe Johnson. He worked in the construction field. He had worked as a foreman for a demolition and excavating company. He loved working for Jeremy Ford in his current job. Rob’s life was his kids. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father, Eddie Joe, he is preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Howard Johnson.
