Joe H. Nicholson, 77, of Springfield, died Saturday November 2nd at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday November 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Ward, Rev. Rickey Page, and Rev. Dean Guye officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Tom Bagwell, James Bagwell, Tim Bagwell, Keith Bagwell, Justin Bagwell, Burt Nicholson, Adam Nicholson, Max Baker, and Richard Russell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Springfield Lions Club.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Robertson County Funeral Home. Mr. Nicholson was born March 10, 1936 in Andersonville, TN to the late Reverend Albright Mays and Beatrice Dunbar Nicholson. He was a graduate of the Murfreesboro Central High School Class of 1954, and he attended both the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Middle Tennessee Statue University, where he was a member of the ROTC.

Mr. Nicholson was a veteran of the U.S. Air National Guard. He was the owner/operator of Nicholson Lawn and Garden, and he was the retired Director of Building and Codes for the City of Springfield. He was a member of the Springfield Lions Club, where he had served as a past president and was also the director of the Minstrel for many years. Mr. Nicholson was a member of Mt. Denson Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as Music Director for 38 years, and he was a member of the Board of Directors and past Chairman for the Springfield Senior Citizen Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: William Radford Nicholson, Burton Dunbar Nicholson, Carolyn Nicholson Russell, and Charlotte Nicholson Campbell. Mr. Nicholson is survived by his wife of 52 years: Nancy Bagwell Nicholson of Springfield, son: Joseph Holt Nicholson, Jr., of Clarksville, daughter: Clara Nicholson Bailey and husband: Dr. Lamar Bailey of Collierville, brother: Albright Mayes Nicholson, Jr. of St. Louis, MI, sister: Elizabeth Ann Nicholson of Nashville, grandchildren: Noah and Mollie Nicholson of Clarksville.
