GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – On Saturday, just after 10 p.m., a Greenbrier Police Officer was conducting stationary traffic enforcement on Kelly Willis Road when a black sedan was observed exceeding the speed limit. According to Greenbrier Police Detective Joseph Chelini, the officer attempted a traffic stop after observing the vehicle fail to maintain its lane, but the driver accelerated and fled the area.

The officer notified dispatch and continued to monitor the vehicle’s direction of travel northbound on Old Greenbrier Pike. The suspect vehicle then allegedly turned off its headlights to evade detection, according to police. Due to wet roadway conditions and concern for public safety, the officer terminated the pursuit within minutes.

Shortly after termination, the vehicle was discovered off the roadway approximately half a mile away, where it had collided with two parked trucks at a private residence. Responding officers located four juveniles near the crash site, police said.

The juvenile driver was apprehended without incident and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The three passengers were released to their parents or guardians.

Charges are pending through the juvenile court system.
