Can he do it again?
Kerry Roberts was elected State Senator in March 2011 to represent Robertson and Sumner counties. It was an easy win for Roberts back in 2011. As a result of the redistricting that occurs every ten years (due to population changes) in 2012 Robertson County was separated from the Senate district it shared with Sumner County and was joined with Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, and Humphreys counties. The changes meant Roberts position was moved to Sumner County, a strange twist of fate for Roberts who had only held the position for 18 months. Roberts could have immediately run in Sumner County but he preferred to stay in Robertson County and wait until 2014. Roberts told Smokey he didn’t want to move just to acquire a political office, “Robertson County is my home”, Roberts said.
Kerry Roberts is running for re-election to the Tennessee Senate to the new Senate district of Robertson, Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, and Humphreys counties. Robertson is the largest of the five counties. The primary election will be August 2014 and the general election will be November 2014.
