CEDAR HILL, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Kinneys Road has reopened following a fatal crash on the 3400 block that claimed the life of a man in his 90s, according to Robertson County EMS Director Brent Dyer. MAP The crash involved a sedan and a pickup truck towing a concrete mixer, the first call coming into 911 at 8:30 AM.

Dyer said the elderly driver of the sedan was found outside the vehicle and is believed to have been ejected. Bystanders attempted CPR before he was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle was also reported to have a handicap license plate.

Four men were in the pickup truck, all on their way to work. Three were transported with minor injuries, while one refused treatment.

Reportedly, the crash was head-on. Skid marks at the scene indicate that the sedan may have braked and crossed into the opposite lane while exiting a curve before the collision.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. When officials are prepared to release their findings on the crash, including the identity of the man who lost his life, we will bring it to you. North Robertson Fire and Rescue, the Adams Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and EMA all responded to the scene.

UPDATE: The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the man killed in Friday morning’s crash on Kinneys Road as 91-year-old Donald Burney. Troopers report the crash happened at 8:42 a.m. on Feb. 20, 2026, on the 3400 block of Kinneys Road in Robertson County.

THP says Burney was driving a 2011 Chrysler 200 westbound when he failed to maintain his lane, ran off the roadway on the right, overcorrected, crossed the double yellow centerline, and struck an eastbound 2007 Nissan Titan head-on. The Chrysler came to rest in a ditch facing west; the Nissan ran off the right side after impact and came to rest in a ditch facing east. THP reported no charges at the time of the preliminary report.
