KY Contractor Dies In Accidental Fall Working In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Funeral services for Chad Siver, 35 of Cadiz, Kentucky who died in an industrial accident in Springfield this week will be held on July 5th.

Smokey Barn News is learning that Siver died Tuesday, June 27, 2023, in Springfield, TN while making a service call for a pest control company at a Hail & Cotton facility located off Evergreen Dr and Charles Ralph Dr in Springfield.

Following an investigation, officials with the city of Springfield are calling the incident an accident.

“There was a fatality involving an individual performing work at the facility. No foul play was believed to be involved. The death appears to have resulted from an accidental fall.” Natasha Tice Public Affairs Coordinator City of Springfield.

Robertson County EMS indicates that they were dispatched to the facility just before 9 am Tuesday, June 27. “EMS was dispatched to a local commercial location of an agricultural business for an adult male who had fallen approximately 20 feet. Upon the arrival of responding units, the gentleman was found to be deceased due to injuries that could not be resuscitated. Paramedic supervisors on scene functioning in the capacity of field medical examiner pronounced the time of death at 0910 hrs.”  Robertson County Emergency Medical Services Director/Chief Brent Dyer

The family told Smokey Barn News that Chad was working for McGee Pest Control via Crown Services. “He was helping out with fumigations. He was said to be approx 25ft high placing plastic coverings on top of boxes or barrels,” the family said.  “The plastic was not see-through and he crossed over to another area. The area was covered with plastic but there was nothing underneath it. This is when he fell onto the concrete.” The family says they were also told that Chad was wearing a harness but it was not secured.

“Chad had charisma and charm and made a positive impact in people’s lives. He is strong in his Christian faith and enjoyed family and friends.” Chad’s Mom

“Chad was very strong in his faith. Everywhere he would go he would share the good news of the Lord. Chad was the light in every room he entered. He survived 2 tours to Iraq and 2 to Afghanistan. He was very proud of having the chance to serve his country. He loved his 3 children with all his heart and was the love of my life.” Chad’s wife, Michelle Siver

A funeral mass for Chad will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1698 Canton Road in Cadiz, at 12;00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2023, with the visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of mass. Burial with full military honors will follow the funeral mass at the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home of Cadiz.
