Local Teen Dies Following Sunday ATV Crash

UPDATE: The Greenbrier Police Department has released the identity of the young man who lost his life in the ATV accident Sunday evening. He was identified as Carlos Hernandez, 16, of Greenbrier. Obituary information has been added below.

GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News): A teenager has died following an ATV crash in Greenbrier, according to Robertson County EMS Director Brent Dyer.

Dyer confirmed that EMS, along with other emergency responders, were dispatched to the crash involving a teenager Sunday evening, the first call coming into 911 at 7:33 PM. Despite immediate efforts, the injuries were too severe.  According to officials, after being transferred to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, the young man underwent multiple medical procedures but passed away two days later.

From Dyer: “As professional responders, it is always difficult to see young people involved in accidents, and as parents ourselves, our hearts break for the family of this young man. Every attempt possible was made to give him the best care possible and get him to a trauma center to try and help him. We ask the community to continue their prayers and support for this family.”

Robertson County EMS, the Greenbrier Fire Department, the Greenbrier Police Department, and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.

Service and obituary information. Carlos M. Hernandez, age 16 of Greenbrier, was born November 25, 2008 . He had a passion for Hellcat cars and loved rap music. Carlos loved sports, mainly basketball and Titans football. He enjoyed spending time with his close friends, fishing, and taking walks at night. Carlos loved animals, especially his dog Sal. His love for animals prompted him to begin taking pre-veterinary classes at school.
