UPDATE: Officials have released new details…

According to Deputy Chief Allen with the Greenbrier Police Department, the call came in around 4:30 p.m. from CSX, reporting a male subject wearing a green shirt and blue jeans, with visible head injuries. CSX advised that the man was lying beside the railroad tracks near the entrance to the tunnel.

First responders accessed the area from Oliphant Street and made contact with the subject, later identified as 52-year-old oldChristopher Webb, just north of the tunnel entrance at approximately 4:58 p.m.

Mr. Webb told first responders that he had been walking along the upper side of the railroad tracks when he fell from the rock bluff wall, which is estimated to be over 50 feet high.

On scene, first responders treated Mr. Webb for injuries sustained during the fall. Due to the rough terrain, CSX accessed the site using a rail-capable truck from Industrial Drive, transporting Mr. Webb and emergency personnel from the scene.

At approximately 5:44 p.m., Mr. Webb was transferred to Robertson County EMS. He was loaded into an ambulance and transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. His condition has not been released.

If this sounds familiar, it has happened at this same location before. Almost a year ago to the day, a 21-year-old man was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with serious injuries after he fell some 50 feet off a steep ledge, landing on railroad tracks in the same location.
