Millersville Commissioner Arrested on Child Sex Abuse Charges
MILLERSVILLE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Millersville commissioner has been taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges following a Sumner County Grand Jury indictment.
According to Sumner County Jail records, David Winston Gregory, 76, was booked into the Sumner County Jail late Thursday night. Jail records indicate Gregory is charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Aggravated Sexual Battery. Bond was set at $750,000 on each charge.
According to a Sumner County Grand Jury indictment filed June 4, 2026, Gregory was indicted on one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and multiple counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery.
The indictment alleges that between 1987 and 2026, Gregory engaged in at least three incidents of sexual abuse involving three or more children over a period of 90 days or more, with at least three of those incidents constituting aggravated sexual battery. The indictment further alleges that at least one of the incidents occurred in Sumner County and at least one occurred on or after July 1, 2014.
The indictment also includes seven counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery. Those counts allege unlawful sexual contact with individuals under the age of 13 between 2024 and 2026 and, in one count, between 2025 and 2026.
The charges were returned by the Sumner County Grand Jury during its May 2026 term and filed with the court on June 4, 2026.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations. Gregory is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
“Obviously, these charges are deeply concerning and disturbing. The City has no official comment or position on the matter other than to say that we will cooperate fully in the legal process.” Mike Housewright, Millersville City Manager
UPDATE: CONFIRMED, Mike Housewright, Millersville City Manager, has confirmed that Gregory has resigned. There will be a special-called meeting at 4:30 PM on Tuesday so the commission can formally accept his resignation.
