Motorcyclist Critical after Greenbrier Crash on Hwy 41

GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE – Two people were transported to area hospitals, one in critical condition, following a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle in Greenbrier Tuesday afternoon. According to Detective Joseph Chelini with the Greenbrier Police Department, the motorcyclist was transported in critical condition to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, while the driver of the SUV sustained non-critical injuries and was transported for treatment.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 41 and Old Greenbrier Pike, the first call coming into 911 and 2:22 PM. LOCATION OF CRASH Units from the Greenbrier Police Department, Greenbrier Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. Hiw 41 was blocked for about two hours while officials conducted their investigation.
LifeFlight was initially requested for the motorcyclist, but ultimately, the patient was transported via ground ambulance to Skyline Medical Center. No further updates on the motorcyclist’s condition were immediately available.

New information has been released in the investigation into the crash. The Tennessee Highway Patrol’s (THP) preliminary report provides more insight into the events leading to the collision.
According to the report, a 2018 Toyota RAV4 and a 2019 Harley-Davidson were traveling NORTH (towards Springfield) on US 41 with the Toyota in the #1 lane (left lane) and the motorcycle in the number 2 lane (right lane) when an attempt was made by the Toyota to turn right onto Old Greenbrier Pike from the left lane. This maneuver resulted in a collision with the motorcycle, driven by 31-year-old David E. Davis, of Tennessee, in the right lane.
According to the report, a 2018 Toyota RAV4 and a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle were traveling north (towards Springfield) on US 41, with the Toyota in the #1 lane (left lane) and the motorcycle in the #2 lane (right lane). The driver of the Toyota attempted to turn right onto Old Greenbrier Pike from the left lane, resulting in a collision with the motorcycle.
According to the THP’s report, the impact caused the motorcycle, driven by 31-year-old David E. Davis of Tennessee, to lose control, slide across the pavement, and come to rest after the initial collision. Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to area hospitals. No passengers were involved, and neither driver faces charges at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation.

David Davis, the motorcyclist involved in the crash, remains in the ICU. According to his wife, Cheyenne, David sustained multiple injuries, including several facial fractures, a brain bleed that has since stopped, and significant spinal damage.
David has been sedated due to aspiration from blood, and his left eye is swollen. He currently cannot move his left arm but has movement on his right side. He is expected to remain in the ICU for several weeks, with a minimum recovery time of five months. David, who is 31, has a wife and three children. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help support the family during his recovery.
