Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Springfield Crash Sunday
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A motorcyclist was transported to an area trauma center with serious injuries following a crash in Springfield Sunday afternoon.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Kirby Street, the first 911 call coming into 911 at 2:58 p.m. MAP The crash involved a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. It appeared that the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the passenger car. After impact, the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and landed in the roadway. The driver of the passenger car and any occupants did not appear to have sustained any injuries.
Four lanes of Memorial Boulevard were shut down for about an hour while emergency crews treated the injured, cleared the scene, and conducted their investigation.
Springfield Police, the Springfield Fire Department, and Robertson County EMS all responded.
The cause of the crash was not immediately available. The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities have not released the reason for the arrest; however, nothing apparent at the scene indicated that drugs or alcohol were involved.
