Movie Shot In Springfield, ‘ALIENS ARE COMING!! ON MONDAY!!!,’ Set For Local Premiere”
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS): A feature film shot primarily in Robertson County will return to Springfield later this month for its first public screening following its festival premiere earlier this year in New York City.
Smokey Barn News was on location during filming in August of 2024 and captured behind-the-scenes footage as production crews filmed scenes at the Robertson County History Museum in Springfield. See our first report here, or our video report below.
The comedic mockumentary “ALIENS ARE COMING!! ON MONDAY!!!” will screen on Tuesday, May 26th at 7:00 PM at Innovation Academy, located at 715 5th Avenue West in Springfield. DIRECTIONS Innovation Academy has a beautiful theater well-suited for the premiere. See film preview below.
The film centers on a group of online misfits who believe there may be an alien apocalypse coming “on Monday.” The group decides to meet in person and bunker down together while waiting it out, ultimately discovering “the family they didn’t know they were looking for.”
The film made its world premiere in January at Regal Cinemas Union Square in New York City as part of the Dances With Films festival.
About 95% of the film was shot over the course of three days at both the Robertson County History Museum and Shade Tree Orchard, with additional exterior scenes filmed in the Coopertown area. According to the release, all dialogue in the film was improvised on the spot in the style of films such as “SPINAL TAP,” “WAITING FOR GUFFMAN,” and “BEST IN SHOW.”
The film features Nashville-based actors Geoffrey Davin, Megan Murphy Chambers, Rachel Agee, Mike Gavin, Tamiko Robinson Steele, Everett Tarlton, Lindsay Ross Davenport, and JR Robles.
The project was produced by Nashville-based Incandescent Pictures, founded by Whitni Resides. According to the release, this was the company’s first feature film.
“The Robertson County community was an integral part of making this film happen,” Davin said in the release. “And I truly couldn’t have done it without them. So when I was deciding where I wanted to stage the first public screening, Springfield was the obvious choice.”
