Mt Zion Rd Closed Following Box Truck Crash In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Mount Zion Road in Springfield was closed for several hours following an accident involving a box truck early Wednesday. Wet conditions likely played a factor  as the vehicle slid sideways in the curve and traveled partially down an embankment, landing perpendicular to the road. Mount Zion Road is completely blocked between Highway 431 and Highway 49. The first call came into 911 at 3:18 a.m. MAP

According to Robertson County EMA, the truck was loaded with Ford parts. After sliding off the road, the front wheels of the truck landed down the embankment while the back wheels came to rest near the centerline of the roadway, leaving Mount Zion Road fully blocked. It remains unclear if the truck will need to be offloaded before being removed.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, and an official cause of the crash has not been released.

Emergency responders at the scene included the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, Robertson County EMS, and the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency. Authorities estimate that Mount Zion Road will remain closed for several hours as crews work to clear the truck and debris.
