South Haven Christian School released the following statement regarding former students Andy Hernandez and Jonathan Palafox…
It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news of the passing of two of our graduates, Andy Hernandez (Class of 2020) and his brother Jonathan Palafox (Class of 2023). The brothers lost their lives in a traffic accident on Highway 431 yesterday morning.
These two young men exemplified what it means to be servant leaders. Andy and Jonathan were active in the music department at South Haven Christian School, participating in several award-winning choirs and ensembles. Their musical talents extended beyond competitions—they used their gifts to serve in their church, lead worship, and bless others through their music.
Andy was a 2024 graduate of Pensacola Christian College and worked as a nurse at Vanderbilt Hospital. Jonathan attended Austin Peay University, where he was excelling as a leader on campus.
Andy and Jonathan will be deeply missed, and our hearts ache for their family. During this difficult time, I am reminded of the comforting words from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (KJV):
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Even as we grieve this tremendous loss, we take solace in knowing that, through our faith in Christ, we will see Andy and Jonathan again one day. Please keep their family in your prayers…..
