Multiple Employees Injured in Fabco Workplace Assault Saturday
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE – A disturbance at Fabco on Saturday resulted in multiple employees receiving injuries after an 18-year-old worker allegedly attacked coworkers with a mop handle and a metal hand magnet, according to a police report obtained by Smokey Barn News.
According to the report, officers arrived at Fabco, a Martinrea facility, around 10:09 p.m. to find several employees restraining the suspect, now identified as 18-year-old James S. Harrell Jr, on the ground. Police noted the individual appeared intoxicated, was incoherent, and made disorganized statements.
According to witness statements documented in the police report, the incident began when Harrell allegedly struck an employee in the face with a mop handle. When others tried to assist, Harrell reportedly used a heavy hand magnet to strike another worker in the head.
According to the report, one employee stepped forward to intervene and was struck in the left ear with the hand magnet, resulting in visible bleeding.
Another worker told officers that Harrell approached him aggressively before striking him in the face with the metal hand magnet, causing a raised bruise on the left side of his face.
According to the police narrative, another employee said he saw Harrell holding a mop before being struck with it. The suspect then allegedly broke the mop handle and attempted to stab him with the broken end. That worker sustained a bloody nose and a bruise on the right cheek.
Another individual reported cuts to the hand, knee, and forearm, along with bruising to the right wrist, after Harrell allegedly struck him with the metal hand magnet during an attempt to intervene.
According to the report, multiple employees described attempts by Harrell to stab them with the broken mop handle.
Supervisors and employees were ultimately able to wrestle Harrell to the ground and hold him there until police arrived.
Police recovered a mop with a broken handle, a hand magnet, and dash/body camera video as evidence. According to the report, additional video footage from the workplace is expected to be available for review.
According to the report, due to Harrell’s apparent intoxication, the Robertson County Jail initially refused booking until he received medical clearance. According to the report, he was taken to TriStar NCMC for evaluation, then transported back to the jail for booking on Aggravated Assault.
Harrell was charged with five counts of Aggravated Assault and booked and released from the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield under a $75,000 bond
According to the police report, all individuals involved were evaluated by EMS at the scene and declined transport.
Harrell is scheduled to appear in Robertson County General Sessions Court on February 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
