New RC Veterans Outreach Program “Centurion” Starting May
GREENBRIER TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –Greenbrier’s Calvary Baptist Church is the hosting location for a new program called “Centurion”, for Veterans of Robertson County. Beginning on May 5, 2018 (1:30 pm to 3:30 pm) and for every quarter of the 2nd month on the 1st Saturday, our County Veterans will have an opportunity to join their peers, make friends and receive assistance. Providing access to the gym facility will help facilitate opportunity for veterans and their families to reconnect with their community and other fellow veterans.
This program is supported by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Legion, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), the Robertson County Veterans Service Office (VSO), Nashville Veterans Center, and the Veterans Court. In addition, awareness assistance will be provided by Robertson County’s Court Appointed Child Advocacy (CASA); a volunteer family support activity.
The primary goal is Veteran access to representatives of veteran service organizations meeting once a quarter, providing needed assistance with reintegration into their local community and connection to each other.
The ability to work with representatives encourages meeting and interacting with comrades, gaining valuable information and even joining the organization (s) of their choice. The Church has a Veterans Ministry that is ready to assist as well.
As an outreach, the Robertson County Veterans Service Office can initiate assessment of needs, schedule appointments for claims processing, and facilitate understanding of how Veteran Service Officers work with the Veteran’s Administration and utilize community outreach activities to provide services for each veteran. This program is a unique opportunity and a new approach to applying action and personal attention to the words, “Welcome Home!”
