June 16, 1946 – June 15, 2025
Linda Diana Arms, age 78, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025 at White House Healthcare. Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Wednesday, June 17th in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Martin’s Chapel Cemetery with Cody Wright, Hunter Wilson, Logan Dean, Jacob Arms, Tim Moulton, and Daryl Pratt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Macon Wright.
The family will receive friends from 5-8pm Tuesday, and again from 11am until time of the service at 1pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ms. Arms was born June 16, 1946 in Guthrie, KY. She was a waitress at Larry’s Restaurant in Springfield, retiring after 22 years of service.
Ms. Arms was preceded in death by her mother, Johnnie Catherine Sales; granddaughter, Lindsey Wilson; and her companion for many years, Lawrence Thaxton.
She is survived by daughter, Tammy (Zack) Albright; son, Ricky (Lisa) Arms; 6 grandchildren, Jacob Arms, Julia Arms, Kandis (Cody) Wright, Autumn (Logan) Dean, Hunter (Makayla) Wilson, and Alyssa (Matt) Foster; and 4 great grandchildren, Mallory, Macon, Maggie, and Tenley.

Tommy Joe Smith

Tullahoma, TN
Tommy Joe Smith, a cherished member of the community, passed away on June 7, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 18, 1951, Tommy lived a life that was characterized by his unwavering loyalty and trustworthiness, qualities that endeared him to many throughout his years.
Tommy was a passionate lover of music, often known for his enthusiastic spirit during concerts. He attempted to attend Woodstock and enjoyed sitting back and listening to music loud and proud, savoring the melodies that enriched his life. This love for music was a defining aspect of his personality, bringing joy not only to himself but also to those who had the pleasure of sharing those moments with him.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Wendolyn Smith, who stood by his side through all of life’s journeys. His legacy lives on through his son, Jeff (Rhonda) Smith, and his grandchildren: Morgan (Brett) Boone, Ryan Smith, and Lauren (Michael) McEwing. Tommy was also a proud great-grandfather to Harper Boone, who brought him much joy. He is also survived by his brother, Alan Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Doshia Smith, and his brother, Jerome Smith.

Fredia D. Duke
March 2, 1938 — June 11, 2025
Fredia D. Duke passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida, at the age of 87. Born on March 2, 1938, in Nashville, Tennessee, Fredia led a life defined by love, dedication, and a spirited personality that touched everyone around her.
A proud Valedictorian of Howard High School in Nashville, Fredia quickly became known for her headstrong personality, honesty, and unwavering dedication. She believed in a structured life, and this discipline extended to all aspects. These traits not only made her a remarkable mother but also established a home filled with time-honored values that were passed not just to her children, but her grandchildren as well.
Fredia devoted over 30 years to Washington manufacturing, followed by a 17 year career as an accountant at Nashville Wire, where her exceptional work ethic and reliability earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Even after her retirement, Fredia’s insisted on being a help to those she loved; she eagerly supported her son, Duke, in his towing business, making sure neither dollar nor penny was amiss.
Her grandchildren knew her as “othermama,” a title that encapsulated the role she played in their lives. Fredia took a profound interest in their well-being, but also in spoiling them – from school nights to family vacations. She treated them to memorable outings, including trips to Opryland, which were always accompanied by her loving touch and joyful spirit.
Fredia cherished her leisure hours as much as her responsibilities. She often enjoyed nights out at restaurants, with Olive Garden’s “Tour of Italy” being one of her favorite indulgences. Her adventurous spirit took her on various travels, including trips to Graceland, Germany, and the serene beaches of Hawaii, where she balanced relaxation with exploration. While traveling, she especially loved to see lighthouses. When at home, she frequently called her family and was always seen with a cup of coffee in her hands. If not coffee, Fredia was known for her rampant love of old-school shopping, and she always had a catalog nearby.
Family was at the core of Fredia’s being; she relished her role as a grandmother, immersing herself wholeheartedly in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind her daughter Darlene (Bobby), and her children Kyri (Britney), Lee (Melody) and their children Chance, Chase, and Cooper, Kayce (Kelly), and their children, Kyleigh and Kinley, Kelsi Hughes, Wyatt (Sarah), and their children Wade and Bo. She also leaves her son Duke (Kristie), and their children Charles Duke III (Tasha) and their children Elijah and Emma, Joshua (Julie) and their children Waylon and Khristian, Destiny and her daughter Lilah, Jaxson, Ryan (Mary) and their children Nathaniel and Ezekal, Brianna and her children Adrian, Liam, Nakiayah, and Nikeem, McKenzie (Eric) and their child Karter, Josie (Lane) and their children Haisley and Greyson. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as several children on the way. It was her wish to let everyone know that she loved you all equally, and was thrilled to have met everyone.
Fredia is also survived by her faithful companion, her Boston Terrier, Wine, who she loved very much.
Fredia was preceded in death by her loving parents, Luther and Nettie Stinson; her cherished husband, Charles Sr. Duke; her brother, Luther (Francis); and her sister, Joyce. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life, shaping the person she became.
A visitation will be held on June 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. A funeral service will follow, starting at 12:00 PM, concluding with a burial at Nashville National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Fredia D. Duke will be remembered not just for her strong personality, but for the love she shared and the lives she enriched. She was a god-fearing woman who has found peace in the heavens above. Her legacy of family pride, adventure, and unwavering love will continue to shine in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

James Terry Butterworth
January 29, 1938 — June 14, 2025
James Terry Butterworth, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on June 14, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on January 29, 1938, James dedicated over 20 years of his life to a fulfilling career at Oscar Meyer. He also worked at Christian Community School in White House. His commitment to his work reflected the loyal and dependable nature he exhibited throughout his life.
James was more than just a provider; he was the embodiment of family values. A loving husband to his wife, Mrs. Barbara Butterworth, with whom he shared an enduring marriage of 69 years, James placed family above all else. He found great joy in nurturing his relationships with his children—Teresa Puckett, Billy Butterworth (Kay Nakasone), and Clark Butterworth—as well as his 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, affectionately known as “Papa.” His pride in his grandchildren stood as one of his proudest accomplishments, highlighting his unwavering dedication to his family.
Known for his sweet demeanor and ever-present sense of humor, James had a remarkable talent for brightening any room with laughter. James enjoyed woodworking and was celebrated in his community as the number one fudge maker in White House, often indulging in dessert cooking that delighted those around him.
James’s legacy will continue through his loving family, including his siblings, Carl Butterworth, George Butterworth, Maurice Butterworth, Frances Butterworth, and Linda Harp. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Susie Butterworth, and siblings Jessie Butterworth, Donald Butterworth, Kenneth Butterworth, and Burton Butterworth.

Betty Lou (Stark) Simpson
October 7, 1942 ~ June 8, 2025
82 Years Old
Betty Lou Stark Simpson, 82, of Hendersonville, passed away on Sunday June 8, 2025, at Clarendale Assisted Living in Hendersonville. Graveside services will be conducted Friday June 13th at 1:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Orlinda with Dr. David Dean officiating. Pallbearers will be Matt Stark, Steve Stark, Wade Stark, Flynt Stark, Ryden Stark, and Scott Wayman. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Simpson was born October 7, 1942, in Robertson County, to the late Elmore and Ina Bell Goosetree Stark. She was a graduate of East Robertson High School Class of 1960 and went on to receive her Associate’s degree from Draughon’s Business College. Mrs. Simpson lived many years in Virgina, was a retired secretary from McIntosh Insurance Adjustment Service, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, making walking sticks, collecting Beanie Babies, and watching the deer in her yard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Vernon Glenn Simpson, and by her sister: Brenda Stark Baldridge.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by her brothers: Bryant (Gail) Stark, Ronnie (Dawn) Stark, and Ricky (Amy) Stark all of Orlinda, by her sister: Wanda Stark Wayman of Hendersonville, by her sister-in-law: Janet Sanderson of Hopkinsville, KY, and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Brenda Kay Head
February 14, 1951 ~ June 10, 2025
74 Years Old
Brenda Kay Head, 74, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday June 10, 2025, at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Her wishes were to be cremated and a private family committal will be conducted at a later date in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
Brenda was born February 14, 1951, in Clarksville. She was of the Baptist faith, and she loved going fishing and collecting dolls, knives, swords, and coins. Brenda was preceded in death by her father: Richard Melvin Head, by her mother: Gladys Elizabeth Ledbetter Gibson, and by her siblings: Jerry Lee Head and Rita Faye Williams.
Brenda is survived by her son: Eddie Collins of Illinois, by her brother and sister-in-law: Kenny and Willie Head of Cedar Hill, by her great uncle: J.R. Head of Greenbrier, and by several grandchildren.

Bonnie Marie Treadway
March 1, 1931 – June 9, 2025
Bonnie Marie Treadway, age 94, of White House, TN was called home by her Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She passed peacefully at her granddaughter’s residence, surrounded by family and friends. She loved the Lord and spending time with all of her family. She was happiest when she had a house full of friends and family. She put out a spread fit for a king.
She was known as Mom, Grandmother, Miss Bonnie, Miss B and Aunt B. She loved watching sports, especially college football and was an avid fan of the SEC! At 93 years of age, you could find her daily at the local gym, participating in the Silver Sneakers Fitness Program (Yes, she was still driving)! She was a loyal friend to so many and would make a stranger feel welcome.
She truly was one of a kind. She is preceded in death by husband: Steve Treadway; son, Gregg Treadway, parents; Bob and Mary Jewel Gearin; brothers, Thomas Gearin, Bud Gearin, Elroy Gearin and Farrell Gearin; sisters, Imogene Pentecost and Lorene Gordon.
Mrs. Treadway is survived by her son, Vic (Mollie) Treadway; granddaughters, Ashley (Matt) Calloway and Lauren (Brian) Goergen; grandson, Luke (Emma) Treadway; great-grandchildren, Bella Calloway, McKenna Calloway, David Waylon Goergen, Josephine Goergen; nieces and nephews and Debbie (Ken) Greer.

Beverly Jean Adkins, age 86 of Burkesville, KY went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 6, 2025 at Cumberland Valley Manor. She was born August 20, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lyle and Cora Houg Smith. She worked as a registered nurse for many years at the Nashville VA Hospital. She loved music, played piano took voice lessons.
She was always active in any church that she attended and willing to use her talents. She was a member of The Church at Grace Park. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Adkins; brother-in-law, Alan Rodda. Robert Bejma

Robert Bernard Bejma, age 95, of Joelton, Tennessee, died Monday, June 9, 2025, at his home.

Mr. Robert was born on September 8, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Stanley & Irene Buczynski Bejma. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired after 20 years with the City of South Bend. He also served as Chief of Police and for the Tennessee Department of Corrections in Ashland City. He loved helping on the farm with his son and amigos. Mr. Robert was a man of faith and service and was always helping friends and family when called upon. He was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Morris Bejma; daughter, Brenda Bejma; brothers, Eugene Bejma and Bernard Bejma; and sisters, Mary Jane Stopczynski, Patricia Ann Howard, & Barbara Bejma.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Misty K.) Bejma; grandchildren, Kyle (Misty D.) Bejma and Julianna Kiggans (James); and great-grandchildren, Oliver Bejma and Owen Bejma.

Rev. Donald “Don” Ray Dungan, age 86, of Pleasant View, Tennessee died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his home.

Mr. Don was born on July 3, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Paul Dungan & Eva Mauk Slate. He was a successful salesman throughout his career and was an ordained minister for most of his life. Mr. Don was a member of Good Springs Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a Sunday school teacher for many of those years. He was a member of several gospel singing groups throughout the Southeast. He was also very passionate about riding and working on motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn Dungan; sons, Chris (Cindy) Dungan and Donnie (Melinda) Dungan; brother, Ron (Beverly) Slate; sisters, Lavergne Jauernig and Nancy Ortega; grandchildren, Alia (Edgar) Estrada and Sophie Dungan; and great-grandchild, Ellie Estrada.

Vickie Lynn Burgett Lunsford, age 71, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. She was born March 30, 1954 in Nashville, TN to Vernon and Lorraine Vestal Gurley. She worked in Accounts Receivable and Payable with the Woodbridge Company until her retirement. She was an avid Titans fan for many years, but more recently she enjoyed attending all of the sporting events of her grandchildren more than anything else.
She was their biggest fan. Vickie loved animals, traveling, feeding her hummingbirds and going on cruises. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Mike Lunsford, Cottontown, TN; son, Kyle (Krissy) Burgett, Ridgetop, TN; daughter, Michelle (Derek) Harris, Hendersonville, TN; 5 grandchildren, Kyah Burgett, Klayton Burgett, Kruz Burgett, Noah Harris and Jameson Harris.

Irving Lee Fentress, age 77, of Joelton, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, June 13, 2025 at his home. Mr. Fentress was born September 8, 1947 in Greenbrier, to the late Albert C. Fentress and the late Mildred Dunn Fentress. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin, was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, graduated from the Nashville School of Law and ran his own CPA firm for over 40 years. He attended Mt. Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Fentress was preceded in death by his wife Cindy Stojanowski Fentress; a sister, Ellen Teasley; and a brother, Albert Fentress.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Chris) Miller, daughter, Elizabeth (Jeff) Hall, son, Jacob (Brandy) Fentress, son, Chris (Faith) Niblock, son, Brandon Niblock, daughter, Amber Niblock, daughter, Jessica Fentress, a sister, Janice (Adi) Surti, and 15 grandchildren.

Delores Apple, age 90, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, died Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the home of her grandson.

Dolores Johnel Lissner, age 81 of Pleasant View, Tennessee formerly of Elk Grove Village, Illinois passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield Tn.
Mrs. Dolores was born on November 8, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John & Harriet Walczyk Mozdrzen. She was a retired consultant for a travel agency, valued her family and enjoyed casino outings. She was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Constance Greco.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Sam Lissner; daughter, Sheryl (Pat) Callison; and grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Callison.
