Brenda (Goldate) Simpson

74 Years Old
Brenda Goldate Simpson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on September 15, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Brenda was born and raised in Madisonville, Louisiana, to the late Andrew Cecil Goldate and Aura Hano Goldate. She later moved to Lilburn, Georgia, with her late husband, Lee Simpson, where they built their home and raised their son, Andrew. Brenda and Lee lived in Lilburn for 33 years and became a beloved part of the community.
Brenda earned a master’s degree in elementary education and devoted much of her life to working with children. She taught first grade at Chahta-Ima Elementary in Lacombe, Louisiana, and preschool at St. John Neumann in Lilburn, Georgia. Her love of children and education was evident not only in her career, but also in the care and encouragement she gave to those around her.
Brenda was also the proud owner of The Chicken Coop, a boutique gift store in Lilburn. She had a love for beautiful and unique things and enjoyed sharing that love with others through her store.
Two years ago, Brenda and Lee moved to Springfield, Tennessee, so they could be closer to their beloved son, Andrew, and his family. Family was always at the center of Brenda’s life, and her greatest joy was her three grandchildren, Samuel, Annabelle, and Josiah. She treasured every moment with them and took great pride in watching them grow.
Brenda had a wonderful—and often sarcastic—sense of humor. She loved to laugh, loved making others laugh, and especially enjoyed giving her sisters a hard time. The four Goldate sisters shared a special bond that remained strong throughout their lives. Though life took them in different directions, they remained close at heart and deeply connected by their love for one another.
Brenda also found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved bird-watching and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels that visited her home. And if there was one thing that could always bring a smile to Brenda’s face, it was indulging in a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream!
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Simpson; Lee’s daughter, Bonnie Simpson Sprouse; and her parents, Andrew Cecil Goldate and Aura Hano Goldate.
She is survived by her son, Andrew, whom she considered her greatest achievement; her daughter-in-law, Stephanie, whom she loved as a daughter; and her three cherished grandchildren, Samuel, Annabelle, and Josiah. Andrew and Stephanie live in Greenbrier, Tennessee. She is also survived by Lee’s daughters, Wendy Simpson of Gretna, Louisiana, and Laurie Simpson of New Orleans, Louisiana; her three sisters, Deborah Goldate Rushing (Wayne) of Abita Springs, Louisiana, Linda Goldate Lalanne (Pete) of Madisonville, Louisiana, and Carol Goldate Barlow (Ron) of Abita Springs, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
During her final days, Brenda expressed that her only sadness was knowing she would not be here to see her grandchildren grow up. Yet she found comfort in her faith and in the belief that, through eternal life, she would one day be reunited with her loved ones.
Brenda will be deeply missed and loved beyond measure. Her laughter, her humor, her strength, and her extraordinary love for her family will remain with those who knew her. Brenda’s final gift was the gift of sight and healing through cornea and tissue donation.
Though her journey here is over, the love she gave so freely will continue through the lives of her children, grandchildren, sisters, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Morningside of Springfield for the friendship and compassion they provided to Brenda. Their kindness and dedication meant so much to Brenda and her family.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Constance Elizabeth Hill

Constance Elizabeth Hill, née Pitts, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Born February 26, 1951, in Springfield, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Joe Brownlow Pitts and Eleanor Catherine Choate Pitts.
Constance graduated from Savannah Central High School in Savannah, Tennessee, as a member of the Class of 1969. In her working life, she owned and operated her own beauty shop, a role that reflected both her independence and her care for others. She also worked for the family business, Harbour-Pitts Company, as well.
She was a lady of strong Christian faith and a member of St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Madison, Tennessee. Her faith was an important part of her life and remained a steady presence through the years.
Constance found joy in the simple and meaningful moments that made life special. She enjoyed knitting and was especially known for making Christmas stockings for family and friends, gifts that carried her time, thoughtfulness, and love. She delighted in being a grandmother and treasured attending her grandchildren’s games. She was also a devoted dog lover. Those who knew her will remember her affection for the color red; it brightened so many parts of her life, from her car to her jacket to even the pencil she used. She also loved watching sports on television with her family, who often helped her decide which team to cheer for, a memory that will continue to bring smiles to those she loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Mary Catherine Elizabeth Ricketts.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Jo (John) Hill-Ricketts; her grandsons, John Ricketts and Richard Ricketts; and her great-granddaughters, Aliyah Ricketts, Cyncere Austin-Ricketts, and great grandson Gabriel Ricketts. She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude, remembering her faith, her warmth, her spirited personality, and the many ways she made ordinary days brighter.
A celebration of Constance’s life will take place Saturday, September 19, at 2pm at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in White House. Visitation will be held from 12pm til the 2pm service time.
Constance will be remembered with deep affection by those who knew and loved her, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing.

Darrell “Chief” Snider

Darrell “Chief” Snider passed away on September 14, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on July 3, 1941, in Delta, Colorado.
Known to many as “Chief,” Chief was a kind and well-liked man whose helpful nature left a lasting impression on the people around him. He was very willing to stop and assist others no matter the weather, and he carried himself with a fearless spirit, never afraid to fall and always determined to keep moving forward. He was also known for his hair, his warmth, and the easy way he connected with others.
Chief spent his working years as a carpenter and for many years worked as a maintenance man. Cabinet-making was his favorite kind of work, and he especially enjoyed making furniture and other wooden pieces. He loved working with wood and took great satisfaction in creating things with his hands. He could fix almost anything, and one of the qualities people admired most about him was his curiosity about how things worked. He liked taking things apart and putting them back together again, both to repair them and to better understand them. That same interest stayed with him throughout his life, as he enjoyed figuring out how things worked and spending time disassembling and reassembling things simply to see their design and purpose.
His generosity was felt in everyday acts of care. Chief would stop to help people who were broken down on the side of the road. In cold weather, he made sure neighbors did not need a jump start. If he knew someone would be alone for the holidays, he would bring them home so they could share in the season with others. These quiet, consistent acts reflected the kind of man he was—thoughtful, practical, and deeply caring.
Chief’s relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was at the center of his life. His faith was deeply important to him and guided the way he lived, loved, and cared for others.
Among the things that meant the most to him was spending time with his family. He was proud of his Cherokee American Indian heritage and of his tribe’s history, a source of identity and pride that remained important throughout his life.
Chief is survived by his sons, David Snider and his wife, Anna, and their family; Andy Humbles and his wife, Jessica, and their family; Matt Humbles and Rosemary Wuckert and their family; and Dan Humbles and his wife, Kristi, and their family. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lance, Anthony, Nick, Ty, Ash, and Dawson. He will be remembered with love by his family and by all who were touched by his kindness, skill, and generous heart.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Snider and Cecil Snider; his sister, Linda Snider; and his parents, Cecil Travis Snider and Mary Frances Stevenson Snider.
A Life Celebration will be on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Grace Park Chapel on 506 Hester Drive, White House, TN 37188. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at the church.
Darrell “Chief” Snider will be remembered as a man who worked hard, helped freely, loved his family, and brought kindness into the lives of others. His memory will remain a blessing to those who knew him.

Margaret Anne Edwards

Margaret Anne Edwards, born March 29, 1944, in Casey County, Kentucky, passed away on September 15, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee. She will be remembered as a caring, kind-hearted woman who always helped others and was known for being there for anything you needed.
Margaret built a life marked by service and dedication to those around her. She worked as a special education bus driver for Metro School and also served as a bus driver for Greater Nashville Jr. Academy. She was also remembered as the first trolley driver in Nashville, a distinction that reflected both her pioneering spirit and her love of being on the road.
She filled her days with the things she loved most. Margaret enjoyed motorcycle riding with her husband and especially loved her Honda Gold Wing. She was involved with the Motorcycle Chapter A Wings around Nashville and treasured riding with Jeff and Barbara. Some of her happiest times were spent riding in the mountains during the fall and taking fall color rides along the Natchez Trace and in the Smokey Mountains. She also loved traveling with the National Campers Club, embracing the joy of the journey and the fellowship that came with it.
At home, Margaret expressed her creativity through sewing and crafting, and she especially enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and cross-stitch that she was able to pass to her daughter. She had a deep appreciation for nature and was especially fond of hummingbirds and birdwatching, delighting in being able to name the birds around the house. Her love for living things extended to the many animals she cared for over the years, including dogs, cats, birds, fish, and gerbils. She and Jimmy were also avid amateur radio operators who could reach people all around the world, reflecting their curiosity and their gift for connection.
Margaret and her husband also opened their hearts through foster parenting, offering care and stability to others in a meaningful way. In her faith life, she belonged to Highland Seventh-day Adventist Church and later to Bordeaux Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Edwards; her brother, Michael Helm; and her parents, William Bruce Helm and Glady Elaine Sandusky Helm.
Margaret’s memory will be cherished by her son, Jeffrey Kendall Edwards, and Barbara; by her daughter, Tammy Coffman, and Ivan; and by her grandchildren, Michele Dawn, Eric, Maurice, Andrew, Kelsey, Sydnee, Koby, and Trey, along with 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. The love she shared with her family, along with the kindness and steady presence she offered so freely, will remain with them always.
Visitation will be held on September 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services – Goodlettsville, 127 N Main St, Goodlettsville, TN 37072. The funeral service will follow there from 12:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband on September 20, 2026, at Old Brush Cemetery in Portland

Gary Lee Robinson

Gary Lee Robinson, age 70, of Greenbrier passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026. There are no services planned.
Gary was born February 24,1956 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late, William Edward and Thelma Francis Riggs Robinson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Terry Robinson; sister, Joyce Elaine Yoho; brothers Timothy Douglas Robinson and William George Robinson.
He enjoyed playing his Guitar, going saltwater fishing, playing with his 2 dogs, spending time at family get-togethers, as well as spending time in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Rosche Robinson; children, Mandie Rodriquez, Chris Davis, Jr, Jazzmin Wilson, Adrian Wilson, Daniel Rosche, Lea Anna Robinson and sister, Sandy Newman.

Marilyn Ruth Cole, age 92 of Goodlettsville passed away Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026 at her home. She was born February 9, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to John E. & Mildred Chichester Bonne. She worked as a telephone operator for Atlantic Bell and later worked as a medical assistant in a doctor’s office.
She loved visiting the beach and going out to eat. More than anything else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Cole; grandson, Jason Cole; granddaughter, Paige Garcia; sister, Joan Hughes; son-in-law, Mark Hitt.
She is survived by her sons, Chuck (Cindy) Cole, Lebanon, TN and John (Sharon) Cole, White House, TN; daughters, Jackie (Larry) Butterworth and Joan Hitt, both of Goodlettsville, TN; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Jeane was born on September 5, 1941, in Cheatham County to the late Ralph & Edith Sterry Perry. She retired after 30 plus years in the boating industry. She was a member of the Primetimers group at Skyline Hospital. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, sitting out in her yard, and driving her Cadillac. She was a member of Mt. Zion FWB Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Dodd; sons, Stacey Lovell and Kent Lovell; and brother, Mickey Perry.
She is survived by her daughters, Regina (Tracy) Dowlen and Misty (Bubby) Ray; grandchildren, Daniel Lovell, Brent Dowlen, Brittney Dowlen, Cody Denney, and Corey Denney; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Denney and Sage Denney.

He is preceded in death by his uncles, John Holloway and Kenneth Holloway.

Robert Wayne Biggs, “Popeye”, age 69, of Springfield, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026 at his home. Mr. Biggs’ wishes were to be cremated and there are no services scheduled.
Mr. Biggs was born August 25, 1957, in Springfield, to James Boyd Biggs and Willie Dean Parks Biggs. He loved to walk, squirrel hunt and cooking whole hog bar-b-q, and was a life long TN Vols fan.
Mr. Biggs was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Biggs; daughter, Sarah Biggs; father, James Boyd Biggs; and sisters, Teresa Maggard and Marie Blackburn.
He is survived by his sons, John Henry Biggs and Bradley Wayne Biggs; grandchildren, Emma Biggs and Easton Biggs; and his mother, Willie Dean Biggs.

James Robert Pairs, age 71 of Portland passed away Thursday evening September 17, 2026 at his home. He was born October 25, 1954 in Springfield, TN to Willis D. Pairs, Sr. & Elsie May Felts Pairs.
He worked in the construction industry until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, small mechanic work, watching westerns and The Andy Griffith show, playing golf in his younger years and reminiscing about his past. More than anything else he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tommy Pairs and Willis Pairs, Jr.; sisters, Ruby Pairs, Barbara Denson, Mildred Parks, Shirley (Frank) Lassiter and Mary (Buster) Carter; brother-in-law, Edward Smith. Bonnie Dyce Stack, age 93, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026, at her residence at Walking Horse Meadows in Clarksville.

Mrs. Bonnie was born on August 19, 1933, in Cheatham County, Tennessee, to the late John B. & Mary Jane Pentecost Dyce. She retired after 35 years with the board of education. She enjoyed traveling and spending time eating ice cream with her porch buddy, Ms. Mary. She especially enjoyed attending all the games of her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was a member of Brewer’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wayne Stack; son, Leonard Wayne Stack, Jr., brother, John B. Dyce, Jr.; sisters, Jewel Gower and Nettie Thomas.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Wayne (Alice) Stack, Steve (Lisa) Stack, and Robert “Bobby” Ewing (Marcy) Stack; grandchildren, Donna Stack Cliver (Sean), Su Ann Sopko (David), Danielle Pavlovs (Martin), Kelly Dellinger (Drew), Aspen Stack (Zach), and Evan Stack; and great-grandchildren, Skylar, Will, Emerson, James, Riley, Poppy, Lilly, Julianna, Wolf, Ana, and Beckett.

August 22, 1934 – September 13, 2026
Freida Gafford Perry, age 92, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026, at her residence at Spring Meadows Health in Clarksville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 o’clock noon, Thursday, September 17th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. David Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Ashland City with Allan Binkley, Steve Meriwether, Craig Baker, Darrell Meltor, Timmy Shearon, and Jimmy Shearon serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 10:00AM until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
Mrs. Freida was born on August 22, 1934, in Clay County, Tennessee, to the late William & Mary Brown Garrett, the 4th child of 10 children. She was a homemaker who enjoyed camping, cooking, and skating with her kids in her younger years. She was a dedicated Bible reader who read her Bible morning, noon, and night. In her later years she loved to color & paint and would often gift these pictures to those who needed encouragement. She was a member of Big Marrowbone church of Christ in Ashland City.

She is survived by her son, Steve Gafford; daughter, Delores Gafford (Darrell) Finnen; grandchildren, Michelle Hayes, Jennifer Hayes, and Elvis Hayes; sister, Seglema Sue Hunt; step-grandchildren, Caleb Winters, Aaron Winters, Lauren Fitzhugh, Rebecca Lynn Finnen, Amy Christina Finnen, and Anna Lauren Finnen, 2 step-great-grandchildren; and step-daughter, Patsy Perry.
