Oliver Lee Haines

Before he was ever born, Oliver Haines was already deeply loved. His story began within a family whose own love story started eleven years ago, when his parents met in an unexpected place—a haunted house. From there, grew a life together filled with love, laughter, and dreams of the family they would one day share.
When they learned they were expecting their son, those dreams grew even bigger. As the first boy in the family, Oliver was eagerly awaited by his two big sisters, who were so excited to welcome their baby brother. They imagined the laughter, mischief, and memories that would come along with having a little brother to love and watch grow.
His parents had already begun dreaming of the life he would have. They pictured his first smile, his first steps, his first words, and all the milestones that would fill his childhood. They imagined watching him discover who he was and encouraging him as he found his own passions and dreams.
His father especially looked forward to the day he could share some of his own passions with his son—to teach him to shoot, to ride motorcycles together, and to share those simple adventures that fathers and son’s treasure. He dreamed of the conversations they would have, the lessons he would teach him, and the memories they would make side by side. His mother dreamed of all the tender moments in between—the hugs, the laughter, the celebrations, and simply watching her little boy grow into the man he was meant to become.
Though Oliver never had the chance to experience the life his family had so lovingly imagined for him, those dreams are a testament to just how deeply he was loved. His sisters will always remember the little brother they were so excited to meet, and his parents will forever hold the dreams they had for their son close to their hearts.
Some lives are measured in years, while others are measured in the love they leave behind. Oliver was here for only a brief moment, but he was loved for a lifetime. His tiny life changed his family forever, leaving behind a love that time cannot diminish and a place in their hearts that will always belong to him.
He will always be the little boy his mother was waiting for, the son his father dreamed of riding alongside, the baby brother his sisters couldn’t wait to meet, and the precious child whose life, though far too short, will never be forgotten.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever their little boy.
Oliver Lee Haines is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jill Spalding. He is survived by his parents Ron and Jade Haines, sisters Lilly Haines and Ellie Haines. His is also survived by his maternal grandfather Jimmy Allen, paternal grandmother Lisa (Richard) Hart, and paternal grandfather Ronald Haines Sr. and his partner Cindy Lubahn, uncle Blaze (Tabitha) Brewington, aunt Charlene (Andrew) Glenndenning, and cousins Israel Brewington, Leann Glenndenning, Alexis Glendenning, and Robert Glendenning.

Gene Ray Johnson

Gene Ray Johnson, age 90, passed away on August 30, 2026, at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro. He was born on August 14, 1936, in Hendersonville, Tennessee to the late Garnet and Mildred Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served his country as Air Force Police, a role that reflected his steady sense of duty. In his working life, he built a long career with Western Electric, which later became AT&T. He began as a pay phone repairman and as technology changed over the years, continued adapting his skills to work on different kinds of telephones. He eventually retired from the company after many years of dedicated service.
Beyond his work, Gene found great joy in the outdoors and especially loved spending time on the water. Some of the moments most fondly remembered were camping trips with his family near Cages Bend in Gallatin, Tennessee, and near Dale Hollow Lake. He also enjoyed boating and treasured traveling with his wife in their motorhome, making memories together as they explored the country.
Those who knew Gene will remember his playful spirit and the way he liked to pick on and tease the people he loved. His family stood at the center of his life and remained his proudest accomplishment. He was a proud son, husband, and father, and he carried those roles with deep meaning.
Gene is reunited with his loving wife of over 68 years Barbara Porter Johnson. He is also preceded in death by his parents Garnet and Mildred Johnson, and sisters Eloise Hewgley and Sue Hollins.
He is survived by his son Gene “Steve” (Denise) Johnson, daughter Rhea Anne (Marty) Bentley, grandchildren: Zach Johnson, Koey McKinney, Jessica Hayden, and Ryan Bentley. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Keeley Robbins, Isaac Bentley, Liam Hayden, Ward Johnson, Peyton Hayden, Malachi Bentley, and Asher Bentley, and his sister Sandra Taylor.
Gene Ray Johnson will be remembered for his years of service, his hardworking nature, his love of family, and the many simple, happy times shared outdoors and on the water. His life leaves a lasting impression on those who knew and loved him.

Robert Charles Mason Sr.
September 12, 1943 – August 25, 2026
Mason, Sr., Robert Charles “Bob” of Greenbrier, died August 25, 2026. A celebration of Bob’s life will be 12 noon on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at the Greenbrier Austin & Bell Funeral Home, 2619 Hwy 41S, Greenbrier, TN 37073. Visitation with the family will be from 10 am until the time of service.
Born September 12, 1943 in Truro Nova Scotia, Canada to the late James Charles and Laura Clare (Beyore) Mason. Bob served our country in the Air Force from May of 1964 to June of1966 and was discharged from the Air Force Reserve in May of 1970. On August 18, 1969, he was sworn in as a Naturalized Citizen.
Bob came to the US to join the military and attend college in California. After leaving the military, he moved to Tennessee for work where he met and married Sammie Holcomb, his wife of 59 years. They eventually settled down in the small town of Ridgetop, Tennessee where they made their home for almost 36 years
In 2011 he retired from Walmart where he worked for over 20 years. At the time of his retirement, Bob was a Market Manager in charge of the Pharmacies and Vision Centers for the Southern Middle Tennessee area. He loved to travel – which he did extensively after he retired and visited all the states, a couple of the US territories as well as 36 countries.
He was the oldest of 5 boys, enjoyed playing golf in his younger years, was an amateur photographer, and a Red Cross Volunteer. Also, an avid reader, Bob was a history buff and particularly enjoyed reading about all the presidents. It was not uncommon for him to be reading 2 to 3 books at the same time.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded by 2 brothers, Daryl Mason and Terry Mason. He is survived by wife, Sammie Marie Holcomb; 2 sons, Robert Charles Mason II and Charles James Mason; grandson, Jeremy Kane Mason; 2 brothers, Brian Mason and Jeff Mason.

“Scooter” William Horace Warrick Sr.
November 11, 1950 – September 6, 2026
“Scooter” William Horace Warrick, Sr. passed away at home in Greenbrier the morning of September 6, 2026. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 10th in the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Chaplain Jessica Crenshaw officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9th from 3pm to 6pm and again on Thursday, September 10th from 10am until time of service at 12pm.
He was born November 11, 1950, to the late Henry C. Delk and Gladys Warrick in Nashville, Tn. He immediately earned his nickname “Scooter” upon entering this world from his father who said, “He scooted right out across the bathroom floor!” Scooter loved being a part of a huge family; always wanted to be around people and never came across a stranger. He dropped out of school early to join the military during the Vietnam War in hopes that it would keep his other brothers safe from the draft. He served almost two years “in country”, between Vietnam and Okinawa. He earned a Purple Heart for his service, among several other metals, and like so many other veterans of his era, he too was exposed to Agent Orange which later caused several health issues.
After his time in war, he came home to his wife, continued to serve six more years in the Army Reserves, had their first son, “Bill” William Warrick, Jr., and worked hard to support his family, often having multiple jobs at once. His most memorable jobs included working at Nashville’s Farmer’s Market, Kroger’s, cross country driving semi-trucks, and most recently at Lowe’s Millwork in White House, Tn, where he retired in 2009.
Fifteen years after having Bill, Scooter and Mary Frances adopted their second son Thomas Warrick. Thomas was placed in their home through the foster program at the early age of 3 months old; due to the circumstances surrounding Thomas’s early life it became evident to Scooter, Mary, and Bill that Thomas belonged in their home for good. Over the course of their time as foster parents, Scooter and Mary opened their home up to approximately three dozen foster children.
He is survived by his son, Thomas (Jessica) Warrick; grandchildren, Nathan Warrick, Amanda (Tony) Lavelle, Jasmine (Paul) Warrick, Dalton (Bailey) Warrick, Isabella Warrick, Elena Warrick and David Warrick; great-grandchildren, Michael and Leo Lavelle, and Octavia and Chadwick Warrick; siblings, Jerry Warrick, Pam Elliott, Patsy (Jimmy) Watkins, Junior (Donna) Warrick, Ray (Maria) Warrick, Rosie (Babe) Donelson, Betty Jean (Terry) Bolton, Johnny Warrick, Dot (Tony) Baxter, and Cathy (Donnie) Wauford.

Carolyn Sutton

Carolyn Ann Sutton, age 75 of Pleasant View, Tennessee passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock am, Thursday, September 10th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Randy Hester officiating.
Burial will follow at 3:00 PM in Fall River Cemetery in Leoma, Tennessee with Jacob Sutton, Elijah Sutton, Cody Phillips, Adam Simmons, Willie Stooksbury, and Matt Brown serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 9th from 4:00-8:00PM, and again on Thursday beginning at 9:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM.
Mrs. Carolyn was born on May 25, 1951 in Waverly, Tennessee to the late Leonard & Geneva Bramlett Brown. She retired after 30 years as a manager with the Tennessee State Dept. of Corrections. Mrs. Carolyn had lots of hobbies including selling paparazzi jewelry, Mary Kay, and Avon. She was a very generous person always providing food or clothes to someone in need, especially the homeless. She loved her grandkids more than anything in the world and lots of love was given to her in return. She was a member of Dunn UMC in Leoma, Tn.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Brown, Alma Haygood, Thelma Collier, Sue Thompson, Patsy Stewart, and Allene Hall; and brother-in-law, Sandy Hibdon.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John Sutton, III; children, Chris Adams, Amber (Jeremy) Phillips, Jason (Jessi) Sutton, and bonus daughters, Laura (Barney) Roberts and Vivian Adams; brother, Clyde Brown; sister, Nancy McCarson; grandchildren, Cody, Kyla (Willie), Chloe, Jacob, Elijah, and bonus grandchildren, Ashley, Kendall (Matthew), Jordan, and Savannah; great-great grandchildren, Waylon, Braylan, Kinsley, Natalee, Keegan, Tucker, Lillie, Gracelee, and Kylie Ann on the way; bonus great-great grandchildren, Aubrey, Arya, Charlotte, Amiah, and Bella; and lifelong friend and father of her children, “Old Man”, Ray Adams.

Bobby Franklin Edmonds, age 93 of Greenbrier, TN, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026, in Hendersonville, TN. Bobby was born March 4, 1933, in Murfreesboro, TN, to the late Herman D. Edmonds and Mattie Lou Williams Edmonds. He was also preceded in death of his wife of 70 years, Maie Wilson Edmonds and brothers, Aubrey Edmonds and Gene Edmonds.
He loved his church and his family very much. He was lovingly known as “Pepaw.” He also enjoyed Golf and Alabama Football. He was a Manager for AT&T Telephone Services.
He is survived by sons David (Venice) Edmonds, Daniel (Terri) Edmonds; grandchildren, Krista (Kevin) Sykes, Joshua (Lindsay) Edmonds, Lydia (Blake) Cobb, 6 great-grandchildren and several beloved extended family members.

Arthur James Ashford

Arthur James Ashford, age 63, was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Robert and Nevelyn Ashford, and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on the evening of August 30, 2026. Arthur was proceeded in death by both parents, his sister Jacquelyn and his sister Karen.

Mr. Derseweh was born November 8, 1950 in Old Hickory, TN to the late George Samuel and Gladys Dickens Derseweh. He was the owner and operator of Derseweh Construction and was a member of Main Street Church of Christ. He loved people, especially his grandchildren and family, and was always helping others, and he loved the Titans football. He loved music and playing his guitar, and wrote several songs.
In addition to his parents Mr. Derseweh is preceded in death by his sisters, Edith Brown and Sandra Derseweh and his brother, David Charles Derseweh. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Deborah Wilkerson Derseweh; son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Christy Derseweh; daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Chad Shelton and Cindy and Jimbo Kerr; his sister, Linda Derseweh; grandchildren, Chance (Breanna), Aaron (Taylor), Mackenzie (Brixton), Dalton (Grace), Morgan (Jackson) and Will; and great-grandchildren, Aubree, Easton, and Brooks, with one on the way.

Mrs. Shockley was born January 14, 1933, in Boones Mill, VA to the late Willie and Reva Abshire. She loved reading her Bible and studying with the Shepherd’s Chapel. She also had a passion for cooking, collecting recipes, caring for plants, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shockley was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Clarence Edward Shockley; brothers, James (Jim) Abshire, Robert (Bob) Abshire, Herbert Abshire and Curtis Abshire; and brothers-in-law, Alonza Shockley and Ernest Akers.

Dorothy Sue Gauvin, 65, of Madison, passed from this life on Wednesday September 2, 2026, at Skyline Medical Center. A Celebration of Life visitation with the family will be held on Sunday September 6th from 12 noon until 3:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born September 5, 1960, in Springfield, to the late J.R. and Annabelle Pentecost. She was a graduate of Springfield High School, was a retired sales specialist with Norvell and Wallace Lumber, and was a longtime member of the Music City Miata Club. Dorothy loved art painting, flower gardening, camping, and she especially loved shopping and going to yard sales. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her husband: David Gauvin, by her children: Kasey (Allen) Batey of Greenbrier, Ronnie Osborne of North Carolina, and Kyran (Angela) Gauvin of Manchester, by her grandchildren: Jared Osborne, Lucas Osborne, Annabelle Osborne, McKenzie Ryans, and Brooklynn Hines, by her 2 great grandchildren and additional 2 that will soon be born, and by her siblings: Steve (Sherry) Pentecost of Springfield, Rebecca Carter of Seattle, WA, and Martha Dillahay of Adams.

Robert Edward “Bob” Murray

93 Years Old
Robert Edward “Bob” Murray, age 93, of Goodlettsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at his home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Goodlettsville Church of Christ, with James Robert Dearman and Davis Murray officiating. The family will receive friends at Goodlettsville Church of Christ on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the service at 1:00 PM. His cremains will be interred at a later date at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Sadie Robinson Murray; his parents, Robert Walker Murray and Mamie Edwards Murray; and his sister, Peggy Murray Harris. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Paula) Murray of Kingston and David (Dana) Murray of Joelton; his daughter, Carol (Jim) Dearman of Madison, AL; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family members.
Mr. Murray was born in Nashville on July 9, 1933, and lived most of his life in the area. He graduated from Litton High School in 1952 and went on to serve his country for three years in the United States Marine Corps, including fifteen months in Japan. Following his military service, he graduated from the Vanderbilt College of Engineering in 1960.
He retired from Nashville Electric Service after thirty years, including being the manager of the Civil Engineering Department. He later worked for nine years in engineering and construction for the State of Tennessee. In addition, he owned and operated his own civil engineering and land surveying company and was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
After retirement, Mr. Murray volunteered with the American Red Cross for seven years, traveling across the state to assist with blood drives—often bringing his grandchildren along on “blood runs.” He also enjoyed investing and was instrumental in starting a stock club during his time at Nashville Electric Service.
A faithful servant, Bob remained deeply involved in church life. He served as a deacon for fifty years at Lischey Avenue, Madison, and Goodlettsville Churches of Christ. He chaired the building committee at Madison Church of Christ, led the visitation program at Goodlettsville Church of Christ, was an inaugural member of the Finance Committee that started Goodpasture Christian School, as well as the committee that built Valley View Christian Camp, and participated in numerous other works. He also delivered Meals on Wheels through Madison Church of Christ from his retirement until the age of 92.
At age 80, Bob demonstrated great perseverance by overcoming throat cancer through extensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, often fixing things with duct tape, and loved traveling with his wife. Together, they visited 46 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, traveled to 18 foreign countries, and enjoyed many ocean cruises. As a big Vanderbilt fan, he also traveled to every SEC stadium cheering on the Commodores.
After Sadie’s passing in 2009, Bob spent many joyful years with his friend and companion, Carolyn Mitchell. Together they hosted dinners, birthday celebrations, and game nights. She brought much laughter to his life, and he loved her granddaughters as his own.
Bob will be remembered for his faithful service to Christ, his love for his family, his engineering mind, and his memorable sense of humor.
The family requests, if so desired, that memorial contributions be made to Nashville Rescue Mission or Churches of Christ Disaster Relief. Donations may be sent in care of Robertson County Funeral Home.

Glenn Cowan

David Glenn Cowan, 86, of Goodlettsville, peacefully passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on August 29th 2026. A time of visitation will be held with the family on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Faith Is the Victory Church Event Center, 3344 Walton Ln, Nashville, TN from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Family and close friends will gather for a private committal service in Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville, Kentucky.
Glenn was born September 8, 1939, in Logan County, KY, to the late Donald and Cora Allen Cowan. He was a graduate of Adairville High School Class of 1958. Glenn was a member of Faith Is the Victory Church in Nashville, where he retired as the church business administrator and was very active in the church audio visual ministry. He was a member of the Gospel Tones singing group, where he sung and traveled with the group for over 18 years. Glenn loved playing church softball in his younger years, riding in his jeep with the top down, and he loved to travel, especially to Gatlinburg. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Harold Cowan, Bill Cowan, and Margaret Bomar. Glenn is survived by his wife, Paulette Bomar Cowan, of whom he would be married to for 65 years in November of this year, by his sons and daughter-in-law: Michael David Cowan of Goodlettsville, Christopher Glenn and Missi Cowan of Louisville, by his grandchildren: Natalie and Jacob Cowan, by his brother and sister-in-law: Charles and Sue Cowan of Old Hickory, by his sister and brother-in-law: Sue and Jackie Holland of Springfield, and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services have been entrusted to the Robertson County Funeral Home.
