Officials: Springfield Woman Shot Accidentally From Adjacent Street

UPDATED (Police identify second Shooting victim)

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to officials, a Springfield woman was accidentally shot walking down the street Friday evening.

Officials tell Smokey Barn News that the woman was shot in the arm around 6:08 pm while she was walking on Park St near 19th Ave E. MAP Officials are investigating the possibility that the shot came from adjacent 21st Ave and accidentally struck the victim from behind in the left arm but exactly what happened is still under investigation.

The victim (an adult woman) was transported to NorthCrest Medical Center with non-critical injuries and is expected to recover. According to Robertson County EMS, the woman was in stable condition.

There were reports of a second victim but no one showed up at the hospital. A witness told Smokey Barn News that they heard several shots followed by screaming and squealing tires.

UPDATE: According to Springfield Police, a second shooting victim went to NorthCrest Medical Center to seek treatment, however, the victim did not provide any information to Detectives. Their injuries were not considered to be life threatening.

Springfield Police were first called to 21st Ave for a (shots fired) call and diverted to Park St after getting the report of the shooting victim.
