One Life Lost, Four Injured in Springfield Neighborhood Head-On Crash:

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A serious head-on crash in Springfield Saturday night has claimed the life of one person and left four others hospitalized. The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has been called in to investigate.

The crash occurred on E. 22nd Ave and Woodland St, the first call coming into 911 at 6:14 PM. LOCATION OF CRASH The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation due to their advanced equipment and accident reconstruction training.

What we have learned is that two vehicles collided head-on with enough force to take someone’s life. That person, driving a 2020 Dodge Challenger, now identified as 20-year-old Eligh Holmes was pronounced deceased at the scene. Timothy Elkins, a passenger in the Challenger, survived the crash. According to Robertson County EMS,  of the four that survived the crash, two sustained critical injuries. One minor child escaped with what officials said had non-life-threatening injuries.

NEW: The THP has released their preliminary report of the crash. According to the report, the 2020 Dodge Challenger was traveling west on 22nd Ave when it attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and struck the 2021 Honda Civic traveling east on 22nd Ave with 37-year-old Brittany Hatcher behind the wheel.

After the initial collision, the Challenger ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a parked 2016 Chevy Malibu. Hatcher and two passengers in the Honda, 31-year-old Genetia Johnson, and an unidentified 10-year-old male were all injured in the crash.

According to the THP’s report, charges for Timothy Elkins are listed as “pending.”
