The victim of Wednesday night’s shooting at the Westgate Apartments in Springfield has survived the night and is now in stable condition, according to Springfield Police Chief David Thompson.  The victim was shot in the upper torso near the neck Thompson said. Police have also released the name of the victim, it is Narciso Carrera 27.  Thompson also indicated that they now have suspect descriptions. The suspects are described as two black males with black or gray hooted jackets (Hoodies) and the weapon has been described as a small caliber handgun, not a rifle. No money or property was taken in the incident, the suspect was just shot, Thompson said. The suspects fled on foot after shooting the victim.

s1Springfield Police were called shortly after 7:30pm Wednesday evening to the Westgate apartment complex located near 5th and Central off R.W. Gordon Dr in Springfrield with a report of shots fired. A Hispanic male was taken via ground to Vanderbilt. His condition is not known at this time. We do know that life-flight was called and then canceled.

s2Again, we do not know his condition but that the victim is alive. The shooting took place in the parking lot of the Davy Crockett Building which is building #23. Groceries were found strewn in the parking lot in the area of the incident. There is no suspect, no weapon and no witnesses. Police don’t know what they have at this point but this is an ongoing investigation and we will bring you more details as they become available.
