Orlinda Fire Department Rescues Dog Trapped Under Porch

ORLINDA, TENNESSEE – Thanks to the quick action of the Orlinda Fire Department, a family dog was rescued after becoming trapped under a porch. The Byrd family had been trying to free their pup, Bigfoot, for over an hour before calling for help.

Orlinda Fire Chief Patrick Darrow said the crew used pry bars and the jaws of life to lift the porch and free the dog. Fortunately, Bigfoot, a Feist/hound mix, was unharmed and is now resting comfortably at home.

The Byrd family shared their heartfelt thanks with Smokey Barn News:

“I want to give a big shout out to Orlinda Fire Department yesterday evening for helping me rescue my pup from under an old shed porch. I had worked on the rescue an hour before I had my mother call them, I was extremely exhausted I couldn’t get to him. The Orlinda Fire Dept crew had to use the jaws of life to jack the porch off of him. I’m so thankful for the help. He jumped up and was fine. There was no injuries or trauma to the pup.”

Bigfoot had gotten stuck while chasing after something under the porch, but thanks to the Orlinda Fire Department, he’s now back in his favorite chair!
