Pedestrian Struck By Semi In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: A pedestrian was seriously injured after she ended up in the path of a semi in Springfield and was struck.

The accident occurred on Tom Austin Hwy about a block from NorthCrest Medical Center just after 1 pm. According to Springfield Fire, the tractor-trailer was hauling milk.

The impact tore off the woman’s shoes and she landed in the roadway. One of her shoes traveled about 50 feet from the site of impact.

The woman was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. A witness indicated that the woman, who has yet to be identified, ended up face down in the roadway after impact with what appeared to be a broken leg. As soon as we can get an update on her condition we will bring it to you.

Robertson County EMS, the Springfield Fire Department, and the Springfield Police Department responded to the scene.

UPDATE: According to Robertson County EMS, the woman (estimated to be in her 40’s) was in critical condition a the time of transport.
