Pedestrian Struck By Train In Adams

UPDATE: Officials have released the identity of the man who lost his life after he was struck by the train in Adams last Friday. He is identified as 31-year-old Michael Lee Laughlin of Asheboro, NC.

Officials are still trying to figure out what the young man was doing by the tracks and why he was in Robertson County.

ADAMS TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to officials in Adams, one person has lost their life after being struck by a train.

The accident occurred around 10 am between N. Qualls Rd and Mint Springs Rd near the Robertson Cheatham County Farmers Co-Op. MAP

Officials tell Smokey Barn News that the person does not appear to be local but they are still working on a positive ID. A CSX Train Operator called in the accident.

Several roads are currently blocked by the train so expect delays if you traveling in the area.

CSX Police and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the incident. The name of the victim is pending their identification and notification of family.

UPDATE: The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office has released the following statement relative the identification of the victim.

“After the initial investigation on the scene involving the pedestrian struck by the train in Adams; a positive identification of the victim by officials could not be made. The State Medical Examiners Office took possession of the body. The investigation into the identity of the victim is on-going”. Lt. Brad Edwards

Lt. Edwards told Smokey Barn News that based on evidence at the scene the victim may have been homeless or a traveler.
