Pickup VS Tanker Snarls Traffic In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –  A pickup truck and a tanker collided in Springfield Sunday afternoon. Somehow everyone was able to walk away from the crash, one official telling Smokey Barn News- “They were lucky.”

The crash occurred on Memorial Blvd right at Industrial Dr, the first call coming in at 12:25 pm.  MAP Springfield Police are investigating but the cause of the crash has not been released.

Officials told Smokey Barn News that the tanker was empty and posed no real danger to the area. The crash completely blocked the intersection. Traffic on Memorial Blvd was diverted around the crash causing minor delays for about 30 minutes.

The pickup was wedged hard on the tanker and resisted any attempt by the tow operator to free it with a cable. After a quick analysis, the tow operator asked the driver of the tanker to nudge the tanker backward a few feet and the pickup popped right out.

The Springfield Fire Department, the Springfield Police Department, and Robertson County EMS all responded to the scene.
