POLICE: Custodian Accused of Giving Cell Phone to Student for Exploitation at Portland School

PORTLAND, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to a release from the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, a custodian at J.W. Wiseman Elementary School in Portland is facing multiple charges following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a student.

According to a statement from the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, the incident came to light on Tuesday evening, December 17, 2024, when a parent raised concerns to the school’s administration. The parent alleged that the custodian had provided her daughter with a cell phone.

Following an initial conversation with the parent, the school principal, and the school resource officer, the matter was referred to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office SRO Special Investigations Unit. In their statement, officials said investigators determined that the custodian, identified as Tracy Lee Crews of Portland, Tennessee, had allegedly provided the student with a cell phone in an attempt to solicit explicit photos, images, or videos for sexual gratification.

As of Wednesday morning, December 18, 2024, Crews was arrested and charged with two counts of exploitation of a minor by electronic means, possession of a schedule two narcotic, and introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
