Police Find Empty Car Following Rollover In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – First responders found an empty car following a rollover crash in Springfield overnight. The crash took out a utility pole and clogged Memorial Boulevard for several hours while crews made repairs and cleared the scene.

The crash occurred on Memorial Blvd near 16th Avenue East, the first call coming into 911 at 2:33 AM Saturday. The vehicle had struck a utility pole and flipped in front of Little Caesars Pizza, snapping the pole off at the base, and leaving it lying next to the overturned vehicle in the roadway. Electrical wires were also down, creating a hazard. LOCATION OF CRASH

When first responders arrived, no driver was found. Reports indicate the driver allegedly left on foot, but no one was transported from the scene. It’s unclear whether the driver sought medical attention on their own or left uninjured.

The crash shut down the two eastbound lanes and the middle lane of Memorial Boulevard for several hours while Springfield Electric replaced the pole in pouring rain and lightning. Once the lines were secured, the vehicle was flipped upright and towed away.

Springfield Police, Springfield Fire, and Robertson County EMS responded to the scene.
