15-Year-Old-Shot By 13-Year-Old At Springfield Park

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Springfield Police are investigating a shooting involving a 15-year-old boy at a park in Springfield.

According to Springfield Police, the shooting occurred on Laramie Dr. Wednesday evening. The shooting victim was transported to Vanderbilt Children Hospital in Nashville in stable condition.

Springfield Police say the incident occurred around 8:08 p.m. Wednesday evening.

When officers arrived they were told that a 15-year-old boy had been allegedly shot in the chest at a playground by a 13-year-old boy who, according to Police,  fled the scene after the shooting.

The 13-year-old alleged shooter was later positively identified and turned himself into the Investigators at the scene and was transported to Springfield Police Department, according to Springfield Police.

The boy was charged with criminal attempt 1st-degree murder and transported to Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Facility by Robertson County Sheriff’s Department pending a detention hearing.

Detectives focused their investigation on a park located on the corner of Laramie Dr and Sleepy Hollow Dr. as well as both ends of Laramie Dr between Shelby Lynn Dr. and Sleepy Hollow Dr. MAP

How the child came in possession of the firearm and the current condition of the shooting victim has not been released.
