Police Issue Alert For Counterfeit Cash In Robertson County
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Detective Chuck Bogle with the Springfield Police Department had lots of money sitting on his desk Wednesday afternoon, the problem is, it’s all fake. Detective Bogle said his department is dealing with a big spike in counterfeit money.
“Lately it’s been $100 bills, Bogle said, and we are expecting it to get much worse, especially tomorrow as big sales begin.”
Recently a man was able to pass 5 counterfeit $100 bills during one purchase, buying a pre-pay credit card. In just the last few weeks, Springfield Police have collected $2500 in counterfeit cash.
Counterfeit cash has been passed to local businesses about 10 times in the last few weeks, four in just the last two weeks.
Detective Bogle is asking the community for help identifying the suspect in this video and the Detective also offers some practical advice for business owners on how to protect themselves against being the victim of counterfeit cash.
